Veronica Parker fell asleep in the dead of the night when the ward door was quietly pushed open.
The long black figure appeared, closed the door gently, and stood by the hospital bed.
The lights in the ward were warm and mild, and the light was shining on Veronica Parker’s quiet face.
She used to look pale but now, she looks much better. Nick Cage sat down on the edge of the bed. He leaned over her then approached Veronica Parker’s face. He caressed her face before giving her a gentle kiss, as gentle as the lightest feather. Veronica Parker woke up the next day and found her food and drinks prepared already.
She knew that although Nick Cage was not there, everything was prepared because of his orders. But she didn’t like any of it. She felt like a prisoner and all eyes were on her. And whatever she does, it’ll then be reported back to him.
However, she liked the idea now that he wasn’t around yet. She felt some freedom just by staying in her room. Its four walls were her companion all that time.
Veronica Parker was still not used to having everything within reach. Although Nick Cage already provided everything, she felt as if everything were in favor of him. Just because he’s wealthier, he expects things to be under his control, including Veronica Parker.
Tracy Dora came to visit her and to inform her that she can go home within the day. She has gained enough strength and recuperated from the incident. “I’ll take you out of the hospital.” Tracy Dora said.
Veronica Parker glanced at Tracy Dora’s regular clothes. She was not wearing her white coat. So she asked, “You don’t have work today?”
“As a matter of fact, yes!” She happily responded.
Veronica Parker didn’t say anything.
She understood that it’s better to cooperate with Tracy Dora. Otherwise, Nick Cage might appear again and she still doesn’t want to see him.
When they went outside of the hospital, the white Rolls-Royce was already waiting for them. She went to the car and asked Leo to bring her to her apartment. Leo was surprised, “To your apartment Madame?”
Tracy Dora who was sitting in front of her said, “Veronica Parker, you can’t be all by yourself when you go back to your apartment. Nobody will take care of you.” If you
Leo interjected, “Mr. Cage specifically instructed me to take you back to Winter Villa.”
Veronica Parker looked at him and saw a frightened look on his face. She didn’t want to embarrass him so she quietly took out her cell phone and called Nick Cage.
“I’m going back to my apartment.” Veronica Parker uttered with conviction.
“No!” Nick Cage quickly responded.
“Do you have to force me like this?” Veronica Parker asked.
“You can’t stay there all by yourself. You’re still recuperating!” Nick Cage explained.
“So you think you know better?” Veronica Parker asked.
Tracy Dora and Leo looked at Veronica Parker with admiration.
“Just do as I say and let’s wait until you have fully recovered. After that, do as you please and you can live wherever you want in the future!”
“I’m not going to wait for that! I’m going back to my apartment now!” Veronica Parker insisted.
“Your body needs to rest and recuperate for a month. If you still insist, you won’t be able to see the children for a month.” Nick Cage threatened her. “Nick Cage, don’t threaten me like that. Those children have nothing to do with this matter!” Veronica Parker trembled with anger and her eyes were red!
“Then we have nothing to discuss! My decision’s final!” Nick Cage responded. His terms were non-negotiable, nor was he willing to give way even for a few days.
Veronica Parker’s heart was pounding. Her chest tightened and she couldn’t breathe. Because of so much anger, she raised her hand, threw her phone, and smashed it. The broken pieces were scattered on the floor. After that, she pushed the car’s door wide open and turned to get out. But she didn’t expect that somebody was outside and jumped directly in. That person blocked her way so she was not able to get out of the car anymore.
She raised her head and was astonished to see Nick Cage again. He held her so tight and she couldn’t move. She didn’t expect him to appear just like that. She figured that maybe, he was just there observing everything. When things turned not the way he expected it to be, he was immediately on it.
When she came back to her senses, Veronica Parker struggled to get out of his arms. But Nick Cage was stronger than her and held her in his arms. He placed his arms around her waist so she couldn’t escape.
“Let me go!” Veronica Parker pushed him angrily as if it was torture to be touched by him.
Nick Cage let go of her and Veronica Parker immediately sat close to the car door in a defensive posture.
Nick Cage raised the car’s isolation board and told the driver, “Let’s go.”
The isolation board will give Nick Cage and Veronica Parker some privacy.
The car moved slowly then left the hospital.
“I’m not going to live in Winter Villa!” Veronica Parker was determined not to compromise. If she doesn’t fight with Nick Cage now, all the more she can’t insist on what she wants when she’s feeling better. She won’t allow him to dictate her life so she needs to fight with him now. Nick Cage stared at her with his sharp eyes and said, “I’ve been busy lately. I don’t even have time to go back to Winter Villa. You can stay there first.” Veronica Parker bit her lip, suppressed her emotions, and said, “No need. Even if you take me to Winter Villa, I will not obediently listen to you! If you’re not happy, tie me up every day!”
Nick Cage’s face grew rigid. If he could tie her up just like that, he probably would have so she can’t argue anymore. But later on, Nick Cage compromised and asked the servant to wait for him outside Veronica Parker’s apartment.
As soon as Veronica Parker got back to the apartment, she slammed the door and Nick Cage couldn’t get in.
He didn’t insist to go inside and allowed her to rest. He knew that she endured so much pain because of the miscarriage so he decided not to mess up with her.
Veronica Parker needed to get back on her feet again. She has six children waiting for her. They need her.
Whenever she misses them or when she feels depressed, she looks at their photos and videos. Those memories reminded her of them, all the good and bad times they’ve been through.
She fought hard to stay strong for them. But with Nick Cage around, she couldn’t help but get angry at him. She couldn’t think nor stay calm. Veronica Parker woke up from her nap and she couldn’t resist the smell of the food even though her door was closed.
She has been recuperating five meals a day since she had a miscarriage.
Tracy Dora said that food tonic was better than medicine, and she would regain her strength much quicker.
Veronica Parker didn’t have much anything to do when she got back. Everything was lay down in front of her already. There’s not much to do but eat, rest and sleep. Her routine was basically to regain her strength again.
The maid served a small bowl of afternoon snacks. Looking at the concentration of the soup, she knew that it had been boiled for a long time. They also added rare ingredients and she knew that her food was expensive and well thought of.
When Veronica Parker was sent to the hospital because of the miscarriage, she looked so different. But now that she’s at home and was able to rest and eat properly, it’s as if she has never gotten sick of any sort. She’s back and regained her old self. There were two rooms in the apartment, and the servants live at the opposite door.
Veronica Parker remembered that there was a family at the opposite door.
But knowing Nick Cage, with his power and wealth, even buying the whole neighborhood would still be possible for him.
While Veronica Parker was eating, she noticed that the servant stayed with her. So she looked at her and said, “You don’t have to stay here while I’m eating. You may go and do your thing.”
“Alright, Miss Parker. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call us.” With that, the servant went out and went to the opposite room!
Listening to their vigilant tone, Veronica Parker knew that they wouldn’t harm her nor do anything bad to her. They were hired to take care of her.
Nick Cage was accustomed to being in power would never allow anything to happen.
Veronica Parker sat on the foam mat and quietly ate her food.
She leaned on the wall and looked towards the balcony in a daze.
Tom Parker knew that Veronica Parker was in the hospital, but he didn’t know why.
When he found out that Veronica Parker noticed everything, he turned around and left the neighborhood.
He didn’t leave immediately after he got into the car, because he wanted to reconcile with her. He thought of waiting for her to calm down before first before he tries to talk to her again.
His hands were full and experiencing so much pressure in the company. But he needs her too.
He suddenly recalled the night Veronica Parker was rushed to the hospital. He remembered that he saw the Rolls-Royce rushing out and was in a hurry to leave.
Then, all the way to the hospital, he saw the nervous Nick Cage coming down from the car and took Veronica Parker out, and rushed straight into the hospital.
He wanted to ask the hospital staff about what happened, but they kept mum about the situation so he couldn’t get any information from them.
