Miscarriage has happened and she simply took advantage of the accident. At the back of her mind, she wanted to end her connection with Nick Cage. Even before the miscarriage, she doesn’t know what her role in his life was. She even had doubts that maybe all that time, it was just for the benefit of the six children.
“Enough of that Veronica. You’re starting to make me worry now.” Tracy Dora stood up and went to the thermos cup to get her something to eat. “The most important thing for you now is to take care of your body, but you still refuse to eat anything.”
Tracy Dora, holding the boiled nutrition soup, sat down beside her then smiled. “You are weak now. I will feed you myself. Come on, eat something for me please?”
Veronica Parker wouldn’t let Tracy Dora feed her. She looked at her and hurriedly said, “I’ll just eat by myself!”
“Can you do it yourself?” Tracy Dora asked.
“Yes, I’m still weak. But I can eat by myself.” Veronica Parker responded.
“Alright then!” Tracy Dora smiled and gave her the bowl. “Here, be careful, it’s a little hot.”
Watching Veronica Parker eat, Tracy Dora wished that Nick Cage would see it then he’d be relieved. It was too obvious in his face that he got so worried. “Care to enlighten me now? I’m here to listen.” Tracy Dora asked.
Veronica Parker knew what she meant and. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Just so you know if Nick Cage had known that this would happen, he wouldn’t have done it.” Tracy Dora explained. “You have an easy pregnancy physique. So it was an accident. I hope you and him can communicate well and give each other a chance.”
“What chance shall I give him, a chance to continue to hurt me?” Veronica Parker asked.
“Of course not!” Tracy Dora said.
Veronica Parker didn’t argue with Tracy Dora. She knew there was no guarantee it won’t happen again. Not even Tracy Dory could guarantee things herself. No point to discuss it with her because she knew Tracy Dora was on Nick Cage’s side.
For Veronica Parker, Nick Cage hasn’t changed a bit for her. But she changed a lot for him. And that reality hit her so hard. She felt as if everything went well for him. For her, the instinctive way to avoid harm was to run when you see what you were afraid of. Nick Cage was like that for her and she won’t stand still.
“Veronica Parker, are you sure you don’t like Nick Cage at all?” Tracy Dora asked.
“No.” Veronica Parker answered plainly.
Tracy Dora didn’t ask any more questions.
She knows Nick Cage. Avoiding him would be next to impossible. With his wealth and power, he can get whatever his heart desires.
Women envy Veronica Parker’s fate. Most women won’t refuse somebody like Nick Cage. And Tracy Dora didn’t expect Veronica Parker to be different. She was an honest woman with honest intentions. Veronica Parker couldn’t but ask Tracy Dora, “Do I have to like him?”
“Well, Nick Cage’s status was different amongst other men. You see, I thought women nowadays like handsome guys.” Tracy Dora smiled. “For example, the female doctors and nurses in the hospital like the CEO of this hospital. However, they couldn’t get anywhere near him.”
Veronica Parker looked down at the steaming soup in the bowl and said, “Well there are so many handsome men out there, and he’s not the only one.”
“Yes, it’s true that there are many handsome men. But few are charming! There is a big difference between handsome and charming! Don’t you have the slightest interest in his appearance?” Tracy Dora chatted with her in a tone that actually meant she wanted to know what Veronica Parker was thinking.
“No!” Veronica Parker exclaimed.
She knew herself very well. Her feeling for him has nothing to do with his wealth nor power. If that was the case back then, then she would have run after him wherever he goes or would have been excited at the first sight of him.
Or when she saw him and knew what his position in the company was, she would have tried her best to hook up with and included the children in their madness. Veronica Parker could have done everything to make things favorable to her, but she didn’t. She never wanted his money.
When Veronica Parker finished eating the soup, Tracy Dora took the bowl and set it aside. “Finally you finished your food! You have a good rest now. Tomorrow, please try to eat again up until you regain your strength. Food is energy so you better eat.”
Veronica Parker smiled and nodded.
“If you need anything, just ring the bell. Alright then, I will let you rest now.” Then Tracy Dora stood up.” Tracy Dora stood up.
“Thank you.” Veronica Parker responded. And as Tracy Dora was about to open the door, she uttered, “I don’t want to see him.”
Tracy Dora paused and turned to look at Veronica Parker again. She immediately understood who she doesn’t want to see.
“And tell him not to touch Tom Parker for me.” Veronica Parker added.
Tracy Dora opened the door, went out then closed the door again.
Nick Cage was outside when Tracy Dora went out. So he asked, “Has she eaten?”
“Well, she finished a small bowl of soup.” Tracy Dora confidently responded.
Nick Cage’s taut face improved.
“But she asked me to tell you not to touch Tom Parker, and That she doesn’t want to see you.” Tracy Dora added.
His face turned red and his eyes went from worried to sharp look. His body was shaking with anger.
“She is still emotionally unstable Mr. Cage. If you insist on doing things your way, I’m afraid she won’t have another meal again.” Tracy Dora tried to pacify him. “Let’s try to cool things down a bit. Don’t show up for a while and let’s wait until she’s in a better mood. She’s trying to cope up. She’ll recover soon. Let’s just give her this opportunity to think things over. Women who experienced the same trauma usually suffer physically and mentally. Please don’t take it against her.”
Nick Cage was relieved when he heard her explanations. Then he asked, “Is she really going to be ok?”
“Don’t worry! Trust me, I’ll take care of her. I’ll put my other responsibilities aside so I can focus on taking care of her. I’ll keep an eye on her. It’ll be all right so stop worrying now.” Tracy Dora responded in a comforting tone.
Nick Cage looked again at the closed door and wanted to go in. He was desperate to see her. He was silent for a moment then he uttered, “You better keep an eye on her!”
“Got it!” Tracy Dora responded.
Nick Cage glanced at the door then turned away.
Tracy Dora pushed open the door, smiled at Veronica Parker, and said, “He’s gone.”
Veronica Parker gently responded, “Thank you!”
“Don’t thank me! I helped you but you have to help me too.”
“What?” Veronica Parker was confused
“Have a good rest. Don’t be paranoid. Take care of your body so you can get back on your feet again as soon as possible.”
Veronica Parker forced a smile. “I know.”
Veronica Parker went to sleep again.
She woke up late in the afternoon. When she looked around, she was the only one there.
She felt much better and still didn’t want to see Nick Cage. Then she stared blankly at the window.
She touched her flat belly. She realized that didn’t even ask how many children were in her belly. Her first pregnancy was multiple pregnancies, which scared her a lot at that time.
She couldn’t imagine that the recent one was multiple as well. If it was, then Tracy Dora would have told her. She hoped that it was just one baby. Although she didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl, she still felt terrible because she lost it. She lost it before she could even see nor touch it.
Maybe it was meant to happen. But she kept on blaming herself and even wished that she didn’t allow him to touch her.
But she couldn’t help it! She couldn’t beat Nick Cage. He was so good.
Veronica Parker felt tightness on her chest so she changed her position on her bed. It took her quite some time to be comfortable and figure out which position would relieve her stressed mind and body. She went emotional again and relieved her suffering. She realized that she has lost several people close to her heart.
She had a miscarriage and lost her child, she lost Grandma, Isabella, and even Toby Cage’s parents. That was too much for a person to endure.
From her point of view, some things are still awfully ridiculous. Tom Parker was not Grandma’s son. He must have known about it for a long time. If he doesn’t know anything about it, then why would he run away? It was obvious that he was guilty of something.
Now she wants to know the truth.
Later that day, there was still no sign of Nick Cage or any sort. Only Tracy Dora came to chat with her from time to time and watched her eat.
She felt much better.
She sleeps alone at night. The silence was deafening especially on the floor where her room is located. It has become her private area already, and only medical staffs and bodyguards were there.
