“Definitely no.” Veronica Parker rebuffed.
“Why?”
“Are you oblivious to the fact that Clare Parker is in a hurry to get to the top?”
For once, Tom Parker understood Veronica Parker’s selfishness, and he can’t help it. After all, he didn’t want Clare Parker and Nick Cage to have anything now.
The people in the North family were all white-eyed wolves!
If one wanted to invite Nick Cage, one can only arrange it on a very special time!
The next day, the North family appeared in the restaurant box on the second floor of the hotel.
Not even shadows of Elton Parker, Veronica Parker or Saxon Raglan were seen as of the moment.
Elton Parker’s character was unruly and they did not take Saxon Raglan seriously who naturally did not want to eat such a meal with the people in Z city.
Sarah North sneered. “What are we doing here so early? Do you want our family to wait for them? Do you even understand the concept of time? ”
Clare Parker was holding a teacup and was drinking from it, with a cold look on her face. It was not on her vocabulary to lower her status like this.
Tom Parker frowned. “There are a lot of contacts that the capital needs us to wait for. Not even Saxon Raglan or Veronica Parker is there. But of course, although they are family members, you should know that even family members have a lot of opinions about their capabilities!”
Sarah North showed a look of disdain, “Isn’t she the one that can coax men? Besides, even if, Veronica Parker came, why is Saxon Raglan called? What are you planning to pull off here?”
“The marriage has been cancelled, what are you worried about? Do you think Saxon Raglan will still marry Clare for the sake of this? How the friendship of his father’s family and ours ended isn’t a good story, and so, what will the others think of us? When Nick Cage finds out about this, he will only think that we are stingy!” Tom Parker hasn’t realized that Sarah North was this shallow!
“Mom, stop.” Hearing the name of Nick Cage, Clare Parker couldn’t help but meddle.
Sarah North listened to her daughter and stopped talking.
There was a knock at the door and Saxon Raglan’s figure came walking in.
Seeing the people inside, he nodded slightly and acknowledged their presence. “Mrs. Parker, Vice President. Sorry I’m late. I was stuck in a traffic jam on my way here. ”
Sarah North and her daughter bore a cold face and did not answer him.
Tom Parker patted him on the shoulder in a fatherly manner. “Sit down.”
Saxon Raglan sat down.
Tom Parker said, “You don’t have to be such an outsider. You should us call us aunt and uncle in private. Clare is like your sister.”
“Yes.” Saxon Raglan passively agreed.
“It’s a long journey for you, isn’t it? We’re sorry to have bothered you.” Tom Parker asked.
“It’s fine.” Saxon Raglan wasn’t much of a talker.
Tom Parker looked at the time and twenty minutes had already passed from the scheduled time.
“Please excuse me. I have to make a call.”
Tom Parker went out and took out his cell phone to call Veronica Parker when she hasn’t made appearances yet.
Meanwhile, Veronica Parker and Nick Cage were currently having dinner together with the six little ones who looked cute while trying to feed themselves.
The servant came over with the cell phone still ringing on his hand.
“Miss Parker, your phone keeps ringing.”
Veronica Parker looked back at her phone and have come to acknowledge an important appointment which she clearly forgot about. “I seem to have forgotten something.”
She stood up, took her cell phone and answered the call as she walked to the hall.
“Veronica, are you in a traffic jam?”
“Oh, I forgot to tell you that I’m not going tonight. Let’s take a rain check.” Veronica Parker said.
“Wait, what? You’re not coming?” Tom Parker couldn’t believe it. “Everyone is already here! How can you stand up on us like this? Also, Saxon Raglan came all the way here. You’re not making any sense!”
“Why is Saxon Raglan so big of a deal?” Veronica Parker was looking for thorns.
“That’s not what I mean. I just feel that we are working hard for a common goal, but we can’t do this to him.”
He seemed to have become considerate for Saxon Raglan while talking about the overall situation, but in fact, he was just afraid of harming other’s interests! How can Veronica Parker not know about this side of him?
“Anyway, Nick Cage, who refuses to invite people to dinner is here, so must I come to you now? ”
Tom Parker was stunned. “Are you having dinner with Nick Cage?”
“Why else wouldn’t I go there?”
Tom Parker didn’t have the guts to rob Nick Cage. He changed his anxious tone and said, “Okay, you can eat with Mr. Cage! So, how about tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow is fine.” Veronica Parker hung up the phone with an unapologetic look because she stood him up on purpose.
Tom Parker knows that talking about it in the box will certainly upset Sarah North and Clare Parker, when they have a bighead as of the moment.
“What did you say? She’s not coming?” Sarah North stood up anxiously. “Is she toying with us?”
“Since she did not intend to come, then why didn’t she say so earlier? She could’ve informed us beforehand!” Clare Parker asked.
“She was informed at the last minute, too, and Nick Cage asked her to accompany her for dinner. She just couldn’t ignore it, could she? Change the schedule to tomorrow! She will certainly come tomorrow!” Tom Parker said.
“If she comes, then I won’t come.” Sarah North was livid.
“Mom, you can always have something to eat wherever you go.” Clare Parker said and turned to Tom Parker, “Then move the appointment for tomorrow.”
Sarah North sat down angrily.
Clare Parker wouldn’t want to lose the upper hand by calculating the possibility of Nick Cage showing up at dinner.
Tom Parker explained to Saxon Raglan the current predicament he was in. “Veronica couldn’t make it tonight, but it doesn’t matter, as Clare said, there’s always something to eat, and we’ll meet maybe sometime again tomorrow.”
Saxon Raglan didn’t seem to have a problem with it. He nodded.
The next day, Tom Parker arranged dinner on the same time and at the same place. Tom Parker’s family and Saxon Raglan have arrived not too long for their reservation.
Sarah North mocked, “If she hasn’t arrived yet, then that would probably mean that she’s having dinner with Nick Cage again, isn’t she? Tom, I think you’d better call her and see ask how her meal is going. ”
Before Tom Parker could speak, the waiter opened the door of the box and came in Veronica Parker. “What’s the matter? I haven’t eaten yet. Did you perhaps mean you wouldn’t welcome me here when you asked for how my supposed meal with Nick Cage was going?”
Clare Parker looked behind Veronica Parker, and her heart sank when she realized that, once again, to no avail, Nick Cage did not come. But no one can be sure until the end!
“No, Sarah is worried about you being stuck in the traffic jam and asked me to call you.” Tom Parker was relieved to see Veronica Parker and responded in the stead of Sarah North with a smile.
Saxon Raglan stood up and nodded to Veronica Parker.
Ignoring it, Veronica Parker walked to the table with a poker face, sat down and looked at Sarah North. “I did miss my appointment yesterday. Did I make you angry?”
Sarah North snickered. “In whatever way would you make us angry? Anyway, we have to eat. If you didn’t show up, we’d have eaten the foods here without you. It’s no big deal. ”
Veronica Parker raised her eyebrow slightly but remained silent.
Tom Parker asked all the prepared dishes to be served on the table, and after a while, the table was filled with delightful dishes.
Veronica Parker didn’t bother to wait for the rest of them, and just picked up the chopsticks and started to eat.
Saxon Raglan was relatively low-key as he was the last one to move the chopsticks. He was well-behaved, very restrained and exhibited proper table etiquette.
“I heard that you were under recuperation after a car accident. Are you experiencing any sequelae?” Sarah North asked.
“Yes.” Veronica Parker looked intently at Sarah North as she replied, “I’m grumpier than ever.”
Sarah North’s countenance suddenly changed. Was this perhaps an underlying threat distinctly suggesting not to mess with her?
But after all, supporting behind Veronica Parker was Nick Cage, which was obviously a sly fox pretending to be a tiger!
Why prey on an anchovy when there were bigger fishes to catch?
“Don’t worry, if anyone messes with you, tell me who they are, dear, and I won’t forgive them.” Sarah North declared. “Eat well. Look how skinny you are. I would think Mr. Cage is starving you at home. But why didn’t Mr. Cage come with you? Are you still in Winter Villa? I couldn’t believe myself when I heard he permitted you to come and have dinner here with us. I got worked up and became anxious when you didn’t dine with us yesterday. If Mr. Cage wouldn’t stay with us if something happened, wouldn’t it be a sin for us?”
