Veronica Parker turned around and caught him deeply drowned by his own thoughts.
The feeling of being stared at was too strong. Veronica Parker raised Nick Cage’s face, and his eyes shrank uncontrollably as he crashed into the dark eyes that were deeper than the night.
They were even more obscure.
Veronica Parker stumbled for words to break the mood. “Did you use to visit here more often?”
“No.”
Veronica Parker thought, has the luxury house been bought just because it was available? It seemed like poverty limited her imagination too much!
Then Nick Cage moved closer to her, obscuring the only starlight in the night.
“Do you like it here?” Nick Cage locked her black eyes with his curious ones and Veronica Parker did not answer. So he spoke again, “You can come more often in the future.”
Veronica Parker was dumfounded and left pondering over the meaning of his words.
Does ‘come here often’ mean her, or her and him? Or with the six little ones?
“Well, you can bring the six little ones over! Peter only likes to play with sand!” Veronica Parker said.
“I’ll play with you.” Nick Cage squeezed her chin and her black eyes knew something not good might happen.
Veronica Parker’s lips trembled out of control as her voice seemed to have betrayed her that moment, her heart beat became rather unsteady and her face turned red.
The next moment, Nick Cage was already hovering over Veronica Parker on the sofa, pinning her down, and the temperature in the air suddenly rose as if they were just about to be burnt.
Veronica Parker was gasping for breath and Nick Cage was like a Neanderthal that would eat her alive!
“Nick Cage, you…” Veronica Parker panicked and struggled.
“Hmm?”
“You give me ah!” Veronica Parker suddenly pushed Nick Cage hard and didn’t expect that two of them would fall off the sofa. She let out a loud cry and closed her eyes, ready to feel the pain she was about to get.
‘I don’t feel any pain.’
When she opened her eyes, she saw that it was Nick Cage who came in direct contact with the ground and Veronica Parker safely fell into Nick Cage’s arms as if those were her only seatbelt pulling her back into safety.
As soon as they fell into this awkward position, the fiery atmosphere instantly dissolved into thin air.
Nick Cage’s black eyes flashed menacingly and stared at the dazed state of Veronica Parker. “Are you still enjoying the moment? Huh?”
‘Enjoying, my ass!’
Veronica Parker flushed at his remark. “Let me go!”
Nick Cage let go of her, and Veronica Parker stood up and pulled up the strap of her dress that had been pulled down her shoulder considering their little ‘stunt’ earlier. It was almost torn!
Nick Cage got up later.
Veronica Parker thought of something and asked, “Is your shoulder all right?”
“Not at all.”
Veronica Parker was surprised. “Oh, no, is it broken?” When Nick Cage did not move or speak, she came forward to check his shoulder.
However, Nick Cage’s shirt was black and should there be any blood, it would be nearly impossible to know right away.
‘I don’t know how badly injured he is so it’s not good for me to just randomly move my hand. What if I accidentally touched his wound?’
“Go to the bathroom.” Nick Cage ordered.
“Why should I go to the bathroom?” Veronica Parker asked, but instead of answering her, she was forcefully dragged into the bathroom by Nick Cage.
Veronica Parker’s sight flashed in a blur. Nick Cage pressed her against the wall and the movement was too sudden and strong!
Veronica Parker inhaled a sharp breath and responded, “You you lied to me? Get away from me!”
She shoved him angrily. ‘I don’t know if it was Nick Cage’s wound that I pressed, but I heard him groan.’
Veronica Parker’s body froze upon realizing something.
In a flash, she saw that his arm was soaked. She was extremely baffled as it could only be blood!
“Don’t worry, it’s just a fracture.” Nick Cage leaned forward and took a bite at Veronica Parker’s parted lips.
Would a fracture even bleed? Nonetheless, he seemed calm and rather indifferent as if the injury there was just a layer of oil that could be taken lightly!
And Veronica Parker came to the conclusion that Nick Cage was a man who was very hard on himself!
People who were ruthless to themselves would not know the importance of other people treating them with care.
Veronica Parker shifted slightly to her side and the light from the wall lamp spilled trance on her little face.
One thing was for sure, and it was that Nick Cage’s wound opened and his shirt was stained with indistinct blood. Right after his wound was re-bandaged, the two of them lied on the bed.
Veronica Parker won’t sympathize with him. He deserved it!
‘Let him suffer this way! You don’t have to be so guilty about it!’ She told herself.
When she moved a little, Veronica Parker was pulled back against a strong, warm chest and she felt firm arms wrapping around her, keeping her close with a strong sense of possession.
“Don’t get so close.” Every cell in Veronica Parker’s body was alert as she tried her very best to sound very serious.
“I won’t touch you.”
Veronica Parker pursed her lips and let him be. “Will you go back to Winter Villa tomorrow?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Veronica Parker didn’t ask any more questions, she was worried that Nick Cage was just perfunctory with her and the six little ones.
‘Close your eyes and sway yourself in drowsiness whether Nick Cage is resting or not.’
In an even breathing, Nick Cage reached out to dim the lights, turned Veronica Parker’s body over and made her face him. Her figure appeared small next to his bulky body.
Her eyes, nose and mouth were at close range for him to reach out to, and the antsy little Veronica Parker in his arms kept Nick Cage awake.
The next day, Veronica Parker took a direct lift plane back to Winter Villa.
At this time, Peter hasn’t come back yet.
Veronica Parker meant to pick the six little ones up at school in person and give them a big surprise.
But Nick Cage did not allow it, and she knew that there was no room left for negotiation, leaving Veronica Parker no opportunity to refute!
‘So, I can only stay and wait in the Winter Villa and surprise the six little ones later when they arrive.’
A little later at four o’clock, the shuttle bus came back.
Peter, like a little penguin, jumped out of the car with the help of his bodyguard.
When he saw the smiling Veronica Parker standing at the door, he was stupefied at first, then ran over happily. And the so did the other short legs, running towards her full of joy.
“Mom!”
“Mom!”
“Mom!”
“Mom!”
“Mom!”
“Mom!”
One by one, they pounced on Veronica Parker.
“Careful, careful ah! ” Veronica Parker fell to the ground as she was being seized by the six little ones, but the smile on her face did not even falter for a second.
Peter was going to bug his younger siblings, and so he jumped over to them.
Standing not far away, Nick Cage looked at her with a soft glow in his eyes.
“Mom didn’t lie to us, she really came back!” Peter exclaimed.
“I want to sleep with Mom tonight!” Cathy said hastily.
“I also want to sleep beside Mom!” Julie urged.
“I I want to join, too.” Josh said feebly.
“Daddy and Mom will rest together just like before! That’s how it works!”
‘Lily didn’t forget the nights when Nick Cage and I used to sleep together.’
“Daddy and Mom! Sleeping together!” Daniel is excited.
‘Veronica Parker, they can’t always forget about their Daddy, can they?’
Honestly, even when one or two clung to her, she would still pick them up. Even if all six of them wanted to be picked up, there was no way she’d refuse.
At a glance, Veronica Parker saw six small hands wearing exactly the same special bracelets.
It was not uncommon for children to wear jewelries, but how could a masculine person like Nick Cage allow Peter, Josh and Daniel to wear a jewelry when they were boys?
Veronica Parker thought about it and eventually understood why. The only explanation was that these bracelets would serve as their locators.
Peter often snuck out of school, so just in case, a locator can serve its purpose.
Nick Cage came over and picked up the naughtiest one, Peter. “Get up.”
Peter wriggled his arms and legs. “I want to play with Mom! Let me go!”
Veronica Parker stood up and said, “OK, Mom will play with you. But first, let’s all get inside.”
Soon, Veronica Parker, Nick Cage and the six hyped-up cuties were making their way to the sofa that sat at the lobby when the cell phone on the coffee table rang.
That’s Veronica Parker’s phone.
She picked up the phone and looked at the caller before turning her head towards the children. “You can go first. Mom is just going to answer this. I’ll be there in a minute.”
Then she went to the side hall.
When she picked up the call, she immediately heard Tom Parker’s voice, “Are you still in the sea view mansion?”
“No, he’s back.”
“Mr. Cage is there?”
“What do you want to ask?” Veronica Parker hated it when he beats around the bush.
“Can Mr. Cage come?” Tom Parker asked, “You will absolutely be envied by others when you come with him!”
