Veronica Parker thought for a while. She was trying to find a way to sarcastically respond to whatever Tom Parker said. “What chance are we looking at here, huh? Do you want the chance to have the right to develop resources in the southwest? Huh, Dad? Ok, I can ask Nick Cage so that he will give it to you.”
“Are you serious?” Tom Parker looked really excited. He reached out to grab Veronica Parker’s hands.
Veronica Parker stood up fiercely with an angry look on her face.
“Veronica, c’mon. I mean no harm. That was not my intention, but when you said it, I just can’t believe it.”
Veronica Parker took two deep breaths to calm herself down. She slightly tilted her and then she looked at Tom Parker, and asked, “Really? Are you happy because of what I said? Well, I’ve got news for you. I can also make you unhappy now.”
“I am getting confused. What do you mean?”
“Yes, I do have the ability to get Nick Cage to listen to me. Sadly, I changed my mind. I will definitely not talk to him on your behalf.” Veronica Parker smiled and looked at him coldly. “So, tell me, how does it feel to fall from heaven to hell?”
“Veronica, darling, how could you do this to me. I am your father.” Tom Parker could not accept what Veronica just said.
“Were you honestly surprised? Quite frankly, to me, fatherhood is an optional existence. I can do without, always have. Do you think I’d come to see you if it wasn’t for Isabella? Veronica Parker, weak all over, walked flimsily to the bathroom, took off her clothes, sat down in the bathtub, and started to fill it with water.
The water accumulated and began to soak her body.
She was wrapped in warm water which made her whole body turned warm, but for some reason, her heart was still so cold, as if how she was covered in cold water. She felt her body trembled slightly in the water.
Veronica Parker’s body sank, she even sank her head all the way in.
The water suddenly drilled into her body in all directions.
She stayed in this state until she was unable to breathe. The air in her lungs was gradually consumed and then finally Veronica Parker felt suffocated. She felt that she was already about to die had she decided to not break out of the water. She grabbed the edge of the bathtub and gasped for breath.
It took her a moment to calm down.
After that, her mood felt much better than it was earlier, and her body finally stopped trembling.
Veronica Parker continued to half-lay in the tub, quietly soaking in the water, her foggy eyes weakly open.
She was thinking about what to do with Tom Parker. She was adamant in her pursuit to make sure Tom Parker will never feel better about what he did!

“I’m in the shower.” Veronica Parker answered shortly. She was frightened by him and his reaction. She was not expecting his sudden appearance in front of her, let alone his unprecedented look of terror!
Nick Cage’s stiff eyes swept into the water, and the clear water reflected the graceful curve of Veronica Parker.

“Let go of my hands.”
Nick Cage’s look of terror eased slightly, and the strength of his palm relaxed. Veronica Parker’s hand immediately pulled back.
