That could not be Winter Villa, that place was not located near the sea.
If she read the sign correctly, that was Sea View Villa of the capital, every inch of that land could only be afforded by elite families.
Everything in that place felt luxurious, not to mention the three-story mansion where Vanessa Parker was currently staying.
Considering Nick Cage’s wealth and power, everything that screamed luxury was readily available to him.
Then there must be nothing to worry about. Nick Cage brought her there.
She closed her eyes to further feel the strong wind. Suddenly, she felt a familiar aura around her and she immediately felt awake.
She turned to see Nick Cage’s dark eyes and the sight made her eyes flutter.
“Why did you bring me here?” Veronica Parker said, “Are we still going back to Winter Villa?”
“Do you want to go back?” Nick Cage’s voice asked in a low voice.
“The kids don’t have Isabella and they’re not with us. I don’t think they’ll be fine,” Veronica Parker took a deep breath and looked into the distance with tears in her eyes. “Isabella would not want me to leave the babies on their own.”
Nick Cage looked at Veronica Parker with dark eyes, he came towards her and held Veronica Parker in his arms, “Then we’ll go back.”
His voice sounded caring and his face was an inch closed to her when he leaned in for a kiss.
Veronica Parker’s vision got more blurry. She let her emotions took over as she inhaled his minty breath.
Their car arrived at Winter Villa.
When Veronica Parker got out of the car, she saw the six little ones running towards her.
“Mom!”
Peter stick to Veronica Parker and he hugged her leg.
“Mom, we’ve been waiting for you!” Cathy said as she licked the milk on her lips.
“Mom is really back!” Peter exclaimed.
Veronica Parker looked at the six excited little faces and said, “Yes, Mom is back. Are you happy?”
“I’m happy!” Julie said with her hands up in the air.
“I’m also happy,” Josh said shyly.
“Mom, I’m so happy!” Lily said as she shook her two pigtails.
“Mom!” Daniel sounded cute and excited.
“It’s good to be back,” Veronica Parker tried to hold back her tears.
Cathy turned to her, “Mom, Isabella is not back yet!”
“Yes, she didn’t come back!” Peter said.
Veronica Parker was in a trance, she concealed her sadness and said, “Your grandma is busy. She won’t be back at night.”
“Will grandma be back tomorrow? Grandma said she is going to help me with my pigtails!” Lily said.
“Mom will tie it for you tomorrow morning,” Veronica Parker said as she held back the hot tears that were attempting to fall.
“Okay!”
“Come on, let’s go inside and eat,” it was only with Nick Cage’s statement that the numerous questions of the six little ones where interrupted.
After dinner, Veronica Parker accompanied the children to play outside.
Isabella used to be always around those children but now Isabella would never come back.
Veronica Parker didn’t understand her sudden death.
The children’s grandma passed away and the person who had cared for her all her life had left forever.
What did she do wrong?
Meanwhile, Nick Cage was answering the phone in his office, “What have you found out?”
“Isabella had only received two calls that day, one was from Veronica Parker, and the other one was from Tom Parker.”
“Continue,” Nick Cage said in a cold voice.
“The police have subpoenaed Tom Parker, he urges that he didn’t know anything about Isabella’s death. I’ve seen the interrogation surveillance and he didn’t seem to be saying lies. However, after receiving a call from Tom Parker, Isabella went to a hotel as confirmed by the policemen investigating at the hotel. Isabella went to see Tom Parker and not long after entering, Tom Parker’s wife also showed up. According to Tom Parker’s statement, he and his wife were just trying to convince Isabella to persuade Veronica Parker. He wanted Veronica Parker to accept him as her father. Isabella didn’t agree and then she left the hotel. After Isabella left, she might go straight back to his apartment and fell off the windowsill. Tom Parker and his wife were in the hotel at the time of Isabella’s accident. They didn’t step out of the room so they had an alibi. ”
“How about Isabella’s cell phone?”
“There were no clues available in the phone and there is a time limit for data recovery.”
Nick Cage’s eyebrows twisted coldly and he didn’t say a word.
“I don’t think Tom Parker has any motive to kill Isabella so it must not be him. Only Isabella’s fingerprints were found on the rag brought back to the police station, and there were traces of wiping on the glass. Everything proved that Isabella’s death was an accident. ”
Nick Cage hung up his phone and threw it on the table, he looked cold and dreadful.
He stood by the window, the dark aura he exceeded was frightening.
His dark eyes found Veronica Parker and the six little ones. In such distance, he saw that Veronica Parker was in deep thought. It was as if something was troubling her.
For Veronica Parker, between accidental death and being killed by Tom Parker, the latter was even more unacceptable, that would be too cruel.
In the evening, Veronica Parker accompanied the six little ones in the room and she bathed them, they looked the same as usual.
She tried very hard to press all her sadness to the bottom of her heart. Veronica Parker seemed to be out of breath at the slightest touch.
When she’s in front of the six little ones, she still talked to them with a smile on her face, as if Isabella had never had an accident.
Veronica Parker and the babies were already asleep when Nick Cage entered the room.
Veronica Parker leaned slightly on his side while she was being surrounded by six children. Veronica Parker rests her legs at the edge of the bed while still wearing her shoes.
Nick Cage glanced coldly at the maid next to him, the maid was so frightened that she bowed her head and hurried over to take off Veronica Parker’s shoes.
“Get out,” Nick Cage ordered in a low but frightening voice.
The maid turned pale and she hurriedly left the room with her head down.
Nick Cage went closed to Veronica Parker and he sat down on the edge of the bed. He watched the sleeping Veronica Parker. He was careful not to wake her up as he bend over the bed to take off his shoes.
“I —,” Veronica Parker’s breath began to rush, she began to whimper as tears fell from the corners of her eyes. “Isabella… Please.”
Nick Cage’s expression changed, he picked up Veronica Parker and he held her in his arms. Nick Cage said in a hoarse voice, “I’m here, it’s all right.”
Veronica Parker had a dream and it was too sad. She cried in her dreams, not knowing that she was also crying in reality. The name she was repeatedly calling wouldn’t wake up at all.
She had no idea that Nick Cage held her in his arms but her body instinctively sought comfort.
Her cry died down and she went back to sleep.
Nick Cage lowered his eyes and they landed on Veronica Parker’s tear-stained face. He touched her face and gently wiped the remaining tears.
It was morning when Veronica Parker woke up.
She thought there were six little ones sleeping next to her but when she looked up she saw that it was Nick Cage’s pretty and well-chiseled face.
She didn’t have to ponder hard to know that Nick Cage entered the room last night but she didn’t notice him at all.
Veronica Parker did not know that she had cried in Nick Cage’s arms last night. She only remembered that she had a dream. She dreamt that Isabella was talking to her and that made her feel good and happy.
But as she watched Isabella turned around and left, she burst into tears.
She couldn’t control her emotions at the thought of Isabella being gone forever. Veronica Parker felt depressed but she didn’t want to cry in front of Nick Cage. She was ready to get up but she felt his arms around her waist and Veronica Parker fell on the bed.
Suddenly she looked at Nick Cage’s familiar black eyes in admiration.
“Did I wake you?” Veronica Parker asked.
“No, you didn’t.”
Veronica Parker questioningly looked at Nick Cage’s face. After all, the man didn’t look like he had the energy to get up.
After long hours she woke up again to the now-familiar room. She could not believe that she fell asleep again for the second time.
She looked at Nick Cage’s face who was leaning beside her. The man was still slightly asleep, his aura seemed to be lighter compared to before.
“I’m heading down. I’m going to do Lily’s hair,” Veronica Parker got from the bed but there were hands holding on to her waist. Nick Cage’s strength made her unable to go up. She looked at Nick Cage, with a mixture of confusion and nervousness, “What’s the matter?”
