Not long after that, Kay saw Veronica.
The stalker couldn’t find Veronica because they were targeting Chloe Bowen. Besides, Veronica tries her best to avoid people, so it wasn’t exactly easy to find her.
Veronica was taken to the floor by a waiter and the man hovered at gate 1008. After some time, the man turned around and went down to the parking lot.
After more than an hour later, Chloe showed up and met with Veronica.
When Kay saw this, he put his computer on the desk and fast-forwarded the surveillance videos so Nick could get an idea of what was going on.
When Nick and Kay looked at the timestamp during the video, they knew that Veronica and Chloe had talked for almost 20 minutes. They only concluded that what they were talking about wasn’t a pleasant topic because as soon as Veronica left, Chloe kicked her car in anger.
“Judging by what we saw, it seems like Veronica discovered what Chloe did. Was it because Veronica threatened Chloe to give back the 5 billion?” Kay told Nick as he frowned slightly. “I hadn’t expected Veronica had the courage to threaten her own mother.”
Nick simply stared at the video. “Is there a good reason why she did that in the first place?”
“Veronica must have done that to Chloe because she did the same to her.”
Nick reached out to Kay’s computer screen and his finger fell on Veronica’s face in the video. “Veronica thought she’d be free if Chloe gave the 5 billion back. That was totally unnecessary.”
After Nick and Kay knew about Veronica’s motives, Nick decided to go to the office. However, Kay looked flabbergasted as soon as Nick opened the door.
Nick’s office looked like mess. It was as if it had been ransacked by burglars.
Julie and Josh were happily chasing each other while the pile of papers scattered around were practically flying all over the place.
Daniel had been entangled by something and he seemed to be hanging in mid-air from the sofa, but Lily pulled him down as hard as she could, making both of them fall on the ground and laugh.
Cathy didn’t know where to get a stick that looked like a fairy stick, so she decided to shout gibberish and pretend like she was a witch.
Meanwhile, Peter sat in Nick’s seat, drawing on the papers with a pen. As soon as he saw Nick, he immediately held up the paper that he was drawing on his tiny, little hands. “Daddy, I helped you work!”
Nick then came towards Peter, took the paper that he drew on and saw that the papers he sorted out was a mess. Nick’s face almost turned red from anger.
“What a lively scene.” Kay said as he laughed happily, witnessing how happy the kids were.
Nick simply gave Kay the cold shoulder and remained silent.
Kay couldn’t help but shake his head and smile at the same time. He then began to squat down and pick up all the papers that the kids scattered.
Nick decided to pick up Peter that was sitting on his chair and looked at him sternly. “Don’t move anything in the office.”
“But I want to move!” Peter told his dad as he tried to free himself from his grasp.
Nick raised his eyebrow, “Who told you to come here?”
Lily suddenly ran up to Nick, hugging his long legs and looking up him. “Daddy, we came here for you!”
Nick sighed. He simply decided to put Peter down on the floor gently and tried to get Lily to stop hugging his legs.
Peter grabbed Kay’s leg and climbed up as soon as Nick put him down. “Kay, play with us!”
Kay laughed. “What do you want to play, Peter?”
“I want to play hit the monster!” Peter’s little finger poked Kay in the face. “Don’t move!” he added.
As soon as Peter tried to hit Kay, he suddenly lost balance because he put all his force into one punch and almost fell if it weren’t for Kay, who caught him immediately.
Nick looked around his messy office and shook his head in disappointment. “What on earth are you kids doing here?”
Cathy ran toward Nick did exactly what Lily did a few moments ago. “Daddy, we’re looking for mommy. Please take us to mommy!”
Peter, who was almost fell, regained his thoughts and also ran towards Nick. “Daddy, we’re looking for mom, so we won’t go home until we find Mom!”
Nick looked at Peter and was at a loss for words. He couldn’t believe that his own son actually tried to threaten him.
Julie, Josh Daniel also gathered around and looked at Nick straight in his eyes, as if they were pleading so he could take the children to Veronica.
Nick simply sighed in defeat. His mood changed in an instant when he saw the children’s cute little faces as they looked up at him. “When I’m done with my work.”
As soon as the children quieted down, Nick and Kay sat down on the sofa then talked about what happened in the meeting. Kay expressed his own opinions while Nick was simply listening to him.
While Daniel was eating, he decided to draw a wire ball with a pen. Peter was telling him what to do, holding a carton of milk in his hand. “Draw like this, Daniel!”
As soon as Peter taught Daniel how to draw a wire ball, he took a sip of the milk he was holding.
Peter looked as cute as ever when he did that, Nick thought.
“No, not like that!” Peter told Daniel as he squeezed the milk with his small hand.
Meanwhile, Kay suddenly stopped talking and was shocked by what he saw.
Milk slid down Nick’s cheek and his whole demeanor suddenly changed. He then glared at Peter coldly.
Peter looked at Nick, then at his own milk. He couldn’t figure out what he did to make Nick so angry, so he looked at Nick in bewilderment.
Veronica had just gone back to the office when her cell phone rang, Chloe was calling her.
Veronica immediately answered, “I already gave Nick the money. Are you satisfied? Can the video be deleted?” Chloe said, with a hint of panic in her voice.
“Of course.” Veronica smiled.
“Don’t you dare fool me, Veronica.” Chloe sneered.
“As long as you gave the money, the video will definitely be deleted. There’s no use for me in keeping it, anyway. Your private life has nothing to do with me. ” Veronica said sternly.
“Veronica, do you really have to go this far with your mother? Are you sure you don’t need the warmth of your family?”
“Warmth? I didn’t feel any warmth by meeting you. You even gave me a miserable life!” Veronica then hung up the call, never wanting to answer Chloe again.
Veronica thought that her life was already a disaster and she didn’t any kind of warmth from anyone. Thanks to Chloe, she wasn’t in the mood to stay in the office anymore and left before 6 o’clock.
She rode the subway and proceeded to go home, thinking she should mention it to Nick sometime.
After all, even if the money was returned to him, Nick wouldn’t let Veronica go. She thought that it was better to give Nick his money back than to agree on the contact.
Veronica took out her keys to the place she called home and opened her door.
“Mom!” The six children said in unison, surprising Veronica in a way she didn’t expect. She thought she was dreaming, but it all turned out to be real.
“Mom, we were waiting for you!” Peter told her, smiling in the process. The other children just simply nodded, smiling at their mommy excitedly.
At that moment, Veronica felt like crying because she couldn’t believe she’d see her children again. She then thought how they managed to come here and was confused until she looked up and saw Nick, sitting on the sofa inside her home.
“Nick came with all six of them?” Veronica murmured in surprise. Her voice became inaudible because of the noisy children that latched on her legs
She wanted to go in, but it became difficult to walk, given how three children were on her right leg and the other three were latched onto her left one.
“Come on, let go of Mom for a while, I can’t walk.” Veronica laughed as she struggled to move inside her home, but Peter and the other children just wouldn’t let her go.
