Now that Tracy Dora said that she can be discharged, there was no need for her to remain in the hospital bed.
While she was lifting the beddings, she heard the sound of the ward door opening. There was no sound knocking and she felt uneasy for the lack of warning. She felt like was being and she already knew who had come in.
Veronica Parker didn’t look up and just stared at the man’s shoes.
Before she even attempted to stand up, a shadow came approaching and the next second she was picked up by the man as if she had no weight.
Veronica Parker felt shocked, “Put me down. I can walk by myself.”
Nick Cage pretended to not hear Veronica Parker and he walked out of the ward door with Veronica Parker in his arms.
Veronica Parker buried her face on Nick Cage’s chest. Her reaction made Nick Cage looked at her and he smiled.
Veronica Parker felt embarrassed. She did not want to gain any attention, especially not when she was with Nick Cage. He owns the building, how can they know who he was?
However, when they passed by the hallways up until they were in the underground parking lot she noticed that there was no one passing by, nobody even blocked their way.
She remembered what Tracy Dora told her. Of course, no one would dare show themselves whenever Nick Cage was in the hospital. It was because of that one silly rule that wherever Nick Cage stepped foot on an area in the hospital then that would be considered as a restricted area.
It was not until they got in the car that Veronica Parker lifted her slightly flushed face. She got off from Nick Cage’s arms and sat beside the driver seat.
She took a deep breath and fixed her clothes to make herself looked proper.
As soon as the car hit the road, Veronica Parker heard Nick Cage’s was in a phone call and he gave out a low commanding voice, “Go and give Tom Parker a big gift.”
Veronica Parker was stupefied for a moment and she turned around.
Nick Cage’s black eyes met hers then he hung up the call and he continued to look at her with majestic light, “Anyway, he came to my place and I don’t feel generous enough if I don’t give a big gift.”
“What is that gift?” Veronica Parker couldn’t help but ask.
“Something most people don’t have.”
Tom Parker was in a hotel and he took out his phone to see who was calling, “I see. I’ll be on a business trip for two days. I’ll probably be back the day after tomorrow.”
It appears that he was calling his wife. Suddenly, the doorbell rang, “That’s it.”
He hung up the call and came forward towards the door.
There were several men standing outside the door and Tom Parker was confused he thought that strangers were not allowed to enter the vicinity. He looked standing in the middle of the group, he had an elite look on him but Tom Parker couldn’t see the man’s face clearly as he was wearing gold eyeglasses.
Kay Tours glanced at Tom Parker’s face through his eyeglasses and smiled “Hello, are you, Mr. Tom Parker?”
“I am. Who are you?”
“I am the chief secretary of the King Group and I am here to give you a big gift from Mister Cage,” Kay Tours said.
Tom Parker was surprised.
Nick Cage would give him a gift? He can’t help but rejoice in his heart.
He had always wanted to make it on the business scene but that path was not easy to get through.
He didn’t expect to have such a surprise when he contacted Veronica Parker. His life might turn around this time! It was also under the orders of Nick Cage, he could not help but imagine what that big gift could have been.
Maybe Nick Cage was the type of son-in-law who would want to please his father-in-law.
Tom Parker said politely, “What would it be? Mister Cage is so kind! It makes me really happy. ”
Before he had finished speaking, he saw Kay Tours step back and the bodyguards in black came towards him.
A surprising punch hit Tom Parker in the belly.
Tom Parker’s screams were hardly heard as one of the bodyguards was quick to cover his mouth. Immediately, he was kicked behind his legs, “What the —.”
Tom Parker fell to the ground, and his face turned white as he twisted in pain, “Why… Why are you doing this to me?”
Nobody answered him.
The bodyguards kept surrounding him as they punched and kicked him.
Tom Parker’s other questions got stuck in his throat.
For several minutes, Tom Parker was beaten by the bodyguards. There was blood coming out from the corners of his mouth, and his face was beyond recognition.
“You… Don’t you know who am I?” As soon as Tom Parker spoke, more blood came out from his mouth.
Kay Tours went forward and looked at Tom Parker but he didn’t seem very satisfied, “Were you giving him mercy? How can he still talk? ”
As soon as the bodyguard heard that, they came towards Tom Parker to continue beating him but they were stopped by Kay Tours, “I’m only joking.” Kay Tours had squatted down and he looked at Tom Parker’s face and said, “Mister Tom Parker, do you still like Mister Cage’s gift? To tell you the truth, most people don’t receive this kind of treatment. You must be special!”
Tom Parker was shaking in pain and coughing with blood in his mouth.
It is only now that he understood what the so-called big gift was.
“You’re welcome,” Kay Tours said before he stood up. He looked towards his men then went away from the hotel room.
The bodyguard followed him.
They enter an elevator and travel downwards.
With a thoughtful expression, Kay Tours took off the gold eyeglasses from his face.
When the elevator door opened, they all went out and he casually threw the gold eyeglasses into the dustbin.
The car was parked outside the Winter Villa Hall but Veronica Parker didn’t even want to get off.
She badly wanted to live in her own place. If only she was not afraid of Tom Parker then she would live in Isabella’s house. She would never choose to live in Winter Villa.
She knew it would be hard for her to leave as soon as she got in.
The door next to Veronica Parker opened before she could even protest.
“I —,” Veronica Parker was not happy but she really was too afraid to say anything.
She could not resist Nick Cage when she’s in her best condition, let alone when she’s sick and powerless.
There is no way out from Nick Cage’s overbearing and forceful behavior.
When they entered the hall, Isabella saw that Veronica Parker didn’t look alright. She badly wanted to appear in front of Veronica Parker but she resisted at the moment.
Isabella watched as Veronica Parker was being carried into the elevator by Nick Cage. She asked the man beside her, her voice filled with worries, “What’s going on?”
“Miss Isabella, I can only reassure you that Miss Parker was all right with Mister Cage,” Bob comforted.
Isabella didn’t believe him. She thought that it must be a lot of pressure to stand in front of Nick Cage, let alone deal with him as Veronica Parker did.
She must be under so much pressure.
“I’ll head to my room,” Veronica Parker said when the elevator door opened.
After saying that, she noticed that Nick Cage was unhappy but she seemed to please him.
Veronica Parker got what she wanted.
Veronica Parker is very confused about Nick Cage’s mood changes and she believed that it would make more sense that such a refusal would infuriate him.
Maybe it was because she was sick now so he didn’t want to upset her.
They entered the room and he lay Veronica Parker on the bed.
Veronica Parker leaned against the pillows and she closed her eyes and told Nick Cage, “I want to rest.”
Nick Cage said nothing and he headed out of the room.
After several hours, Veronica Parker opened her eyes when she felt the absence of Nick Cage’s domineering aura in the room.
Her body felt more relaxed.
She thought about what Nick Cage said in the car and wondered what kind of gift he gave Tom Parker.
She had a feeling that it won’t be a good thing.
Whatever Nick Cage gave to Tom Parker, didn’t disturb her that much. After all, what she badly wanted was for Tom Parker to not appear in front of her again.
She didn’t need a father or a mother just like she was used to.
There was a soft knock on the door and she saw Isabella came in.
Veronica Parker knew instantly that it wouldn’t be Nick Cage because that man would never knock.
“Isabella.”
“What’s the matter? Are you not feeling well?” Isabella asked worriedly.
“I only have a cold and a fever,” Veronica Parker replied. She did not want to tell what had happened to her, otherwise, it would frighten Isabella. However, she still had to tell Isabella the news about Tom Parker coming so she would not be unprepared to bumping into him.
“Why are you so careless? You scared me. I thought….”
Veronica Parker smiled, “Why? Do you think Nick Cage would hit me? ”
“I’m afraid you’ll get hurt. If he really dares to do that then I’ll try my best to fight him!”
“No, how could he hit me? Wouldn’t he have mercy on me for the sake of the six little ones?” Nick Cage is a powerful man. Veronica Parker was always afraid to see him.
