Chapter 457: Tough!

Book:Fallen Heir Rising Published:2024-8-8

Charlotte and Virginia wrestled for a long time before they both got tired and sat down to take a break. They glared at each other with intense hostility. Both were panting, with faint scratch marks on their bodies and smeared lipstick.
“I just want to know if you’ll admit it! Are you too scared to own up?” Virginia gritted her teeth, her expression furious.
“I’ll say it again! I, Charlotte, have a clear conscience. I have never done anything to betray Quentin!” Charlotte was equally furious, feeling completely innocent and refusing to compromise.
“Too scared to admit it, Charlotte? How brave of you!”
“Do you think I’m afraid of you? Why should I admit to something I didn’t do?”
Both stood up again, Virginia’s eyes blazing, while Charlotte remained fearless. A fight was about to break out once more.
“Charlotte? What are you doing?” Just as they were about to start fighting again, Emma walked in.
“Mom, what are you doing here?” Seeing someone else arrive, neither wanted to make a scene and risk being laughed at.
“I was looking for you. What’s wrong with your hair and face? Who bullied you?” Emma was shocked to see the scratch marks and smeared lipstick on Charlotte and Virginia’s faces. It was clear they had been fighting.
“Mom, I’m fine.” Charlotte tidied her hair and took out a small mirror to fix her makeup. Virginia also refused to be outdone, adjusting her appearance. Even at this moment, they were secretly competing-who looked better?
“How can you say you’re fine? You look like a mess.”
“Was it you, you shrew, bullying our Charlotte? Such lack of manners!” Emma angrily scolded Virginia.
“You call me a shrew? Old lady, we were just playing around.”
“I have injuries too. Didn’t your daughter touch me? Why assume it was me who started it?” Virginia retorted directly at Emma.
“You!” Emma was so angry she couldn’t speak.
“Mom, she’s my boss, Virginia Moran,” Charlotte intervened.
“Virginia Moran? The president of QM Group?” Emma was astonished. This was not someone to offend lightly.
“Miss Moran, please calm down. My daughter Charlotte didn’t know any better. I’ll give her a good scolding when we get home.”
“I was just being protective of my daughter. It’s my fault for not recognizing who you are. Please don’t hold it against us.” Emma spoke humbly, apologizing to Virginia.
“Forget it. I was impulsive too. It’s a personal grudge, nothing more. No need to say I, Virginia, am using my power to bully others.”
“You don’t need to apologize either. I won’t forgive her just like that, but don’t worry about any retaliation from me.” Virginia sat down, uninterested in Emma’s flattery and maintaining a tough stance. As the president of QM Group, she had never suffered such humiliation.
“Charlotte, apologize to Miss Moran now!” Emma pulled Charlotte over. If they truly angered Virginia, how could Charlotte’s family continue to live well?
“Mom, she slandered my innocence and hit me first. I’m not going to apologize. Don’t be afraid of her. At worst, I’ll resign as the director of Time Group!” Charlotte remained firm; she would not compromise today.
“Fine, I’ve given you your last chance. Since you don’t want it, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
“The company was reclaimed with Quentin’s help, yet you turned around and got involved with another man… Since that’s the case, I’ll make the decision for him!”
“I guarantee that within a year, Time Group’s market value won’t increase at all!”
Charlotte felt no ripple in her heart at Virginia’s declaration.
“Do as you wish.” Charlotte turned and left without looking back. She would rather give up her position as director of Time Group than endure this injustice.
“Charlotte, Charlotte come back…” Emma tried to stop Charlotte but couldn’t catch up with her.
“Miss Moran, I’m really sorry about today. I’ll definitely bring Charlotte to apologize properly another day.”
“She’s just too stubborn. Please don’t hold it against her.”
“Quentin just arrived and said he found a bone marrow match for Janessa.”
“I was worried because I couldn’t find Charlotte and came here only to discover what happened between you two.”
Emma kept pleading for Charlotte; she didn’t want her daughter to lose her position as director of Time Group.
“Quentin is here?”
Hearing that Quentin had arrived, Virginia ignored Emma’s words and headed straight for Janessa’s ward.
Seeing Virginia so anxious, Emma was surprised. Could it be that Virginia had feelings for Quentin? Wouldn’t that make her daughter’s toughest rival?
