Chapter 200: Do You Need It?

Bianca walked over to Diana, took her arm, and led her aside. “Diana, I need to ask you something. Do you know any treatments or methods to manage obesity?”
Diana looked puzzled. “Why are you asking about that?”
Then, Diana’s thoughts shifted to Reese, the plus-sized girl Bianca had hired. Narrowing her gaze, Diana said, “Bianc, you’re being very considerate.”
Bianca gave Diana a gentle nudge. “Diana, you always know so much. Can you help me look into it?”
Diana laughed softly. “Well, if you’re asking, how could I refuse to help?”
Bianca flashed a mischievous grin and started to leave, but then a thought occurred to her. She looked back at Diana and asked, “By the way, why haven’t you, the biggest Brandon fan, been inactive on social media lately?”
In the past, Diana regularly posted updates about Brandon in his fan club. Recently, there’d been rumors that Brandon’s biggest fan had stopped following him and been absent from the fan club for a while.
Diana’s usually bright eyes dimmed.
Diana forced a smile and said, “Lately, I’ve been swamped with our joint business. I can’t spend all day online anymore. Oh, I just remembered, I have a contract to sort out. I need to go.”
With that, Diana quickly gathered her things and hurried out of the office.
Bianca watched her leave, feeling that something was off.
A few days later, Diana told Bianca that the city’s top medical research center had made a big discovery: a new treatment for obesity that looked very promising. But, it was still in limited production and unavailable to everyone.
Getting this treatment needed special connections.
Since Bianca now knew how to get access, she decided it was worth a shot.
‘What if it really worked?’
After finishing her work, Bianca decided to visit the research center herself.
The shiny white building gave the research institute a sense of importance.
People in white coats hurried around inside.
Bianca went to the reception desk to talk about a specific medicine she was interested in.
“I’m sorry, Miss. I can’t give much information about that medicine right now. Please watch for our announcements. We’ll share any updates as soon as we have them,” the receptionist said with a friendly smile.
Bianca then asked, “Do you know when there will be an update on the medicine?”
The receptionist replied, “I’m not sure about the details.”
Bianca understood that getting information was hard without the right connections.
She didn’t have any insiders at the research institute. If Diana knew someone, she would have told her by now.
Feeling a bit disappointed, Bianca was about to leave when a group of staff in white lab coats walked in through the automatic doors.
Leading them was a young man in his twenties. He stood tall, walked with confidence, and wore his white coat open, its hem fluttering with his movements. He seemed full of energy.
He was followed by several older men who looked like professors.
Bianca was intrigued by the young man; he seemed familiar.
As he walked in, he glanced at Bianca with a hint of surprise on his handsome face.
He paused and whispered something to the professors, who nodded in response, and then they left.
The young man turned and walked toward Bianca.
Bianca watched him with a puzzled look. It wasn’t until he stopped in front of her that she realized he was approaching her.
“Bianca?” The man said, looking at her with a touch of uncertainty.
Bianca asked, “Who are you?”
The man gave a small smile, his hands in his lab coat pockets. Before he could answer, someone passing by stopped to greet him, “Professor Lopez.”
He nodded and smiled in acknowledgment.
Bianca was excited to meet someone who was already a professor at such a young age.
She asked eagerly, “Have we met before?”
The man looked at her again and smiled. “You’re quite popular online. It’s not surprising people recognize you.”
Bianca nodded, feeling a bit awkward. “Oh…”
Bianca wondered if she had become so famous that people recognized her in public.
The thought was interrupted when the man asked, “What brings you here?”
She looked up at the young professor, wondering if he knew about the new medicine.
“Professor Lopez, I’ve heard about a new obesity treatment your team developed. Do you know anything about it?”
The man looked puzzled. “Do you need it?”
“Yes,” Bianca said, choosing her words carefully since she was meeting him for the first time and wasn’t sure if he could help her. “If it’s not too much trouble, could I…”
“Certainly,” the man replied without hesitation.
Bianca stopped mid-sentence, her eyes wide. She looked at the man in shock and said, “Really? How much is it? I can transfer the money to you!”
She was thrilled that this professor, whom she had just met, was willing to help. At first, she thought he might just be looking to make some extra cash, as private sales of drugs might be common in research centers.
But to her surprise, the man just laughed and said, “No need. It’s not a problem. Just wait here. I’ll be back soon.”
He gave her a reassuring smile and walked down the corridor, disappearing around the corner.
Bianca watched him go, feeling a bit flustered and amazed.
Bianca wondered why this man would help her, especially since it was their first meeting.
She knew there was no such thing as a free meal these days.
Feeling uneasy, she went back to the receptionist to ask about Professor Lopez.
“Professor Lopez? He was invited here from Mubluosia to be a technical guide for our project. Even the director has to be respectful to him. I believe he and his team developed the medicine you asked about.”
The receptionist spoke about Professor Lopez with clear admiration, showing how popular he was at the research institute.
After speaking with the receptionist, Bianca sat down and waited anxiously. It felt like forever before the man returned, now dressed in a dark grey suit that made him look like a high-ranking official.
He stopped in front of Bianca and handed her several boxes of medicine. “Here’s the medicine you asked for. It’s enough for a full course of treatment. You’re welcome.”
Bianca stared at him in surprise, unsure whether to take the boxes. “But… why are you helping me?”
The man turned his face slightly, a faint smile on his lips. “Oh, I’m just doing this on a whim,” he said softly.
“May I know your name? I’d like to thank you properly someday.” Bianca finally accepted the medicine boxes, though she was still a bit hesitant. She didn’t want to feel like she owed him anything.
The man looked down at her with a mysterious smile. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
