My heart picked up as I looked at the man standing before me. What are you doing here ? I asked him, my hand tightening its grip on the doorknob.
Well, I came to see you.
No shit, why are you here ? I emphasized, with venom laced through my voice.
May I come in ? Gesturing into my office, and not wanting people to grow suspicious, I allowed him in.
I’m not going to ask you again. I crossed my arms across my chest, once shutting the door.
I missed you. That caused both of my eyebrows to raise in uttermost disbelief I was baffled even.. he couldn’t be serious.
Are you drunk or high ? There had to be a reason for this nonsense.
What is that ? He ignored my oblivious question, and I followed his eyes to see he was looking at my engagement ring.
It’s a ring dumb ass.
You’ve gotten feisty I must say. He tsked, not liking my chose of words.
You need to go. Opening the door for him to leave.
Wouldn’t you miss me ?
Aiden I haven’t seen you in 7 years, I don’t think I missed you. Another jab.
So who’s the lucky man ?
Not you obviously.
Don’t be like that. He tried to advance towards me but I didn’t even let him get that far.
Don’t be like what ? I held up my hand to stop him from getting closer to me that wasn’t welcomed. What’s wrong with you ?
Don’t act like you don’t know what’s going on. He grabbed ahold of my hand and I flinched away like he was infected.
Don’t touch me. I pointed my finger at him. What did we have Aiden ? Friendship ?
It was more than that, and you know it. He watched my finger because he knew the next step was him getting hit, and I would be charged for assault.
Why can’t you just leave me alone like you did the last 7 years, I thought you were happy ?
Aiden and I were friends in high school- he was my only friend. But, I didn’t know he had a crush on me until he told me, and I tried to see where things could take us, but it was awkward for me because I was forcing myself like him back so it wasn’t serious for me-but to him it was. We only went on two dates and I called it quits.
He moved on, telling me not to worry about it, and him moving meant he forgot about me in the process so our friendship never mattered but here he is again. Please tell me you aren’t crazy now. I eyed him.
He thought what I said was humorous as he smirked and quite frankly I didn’t miss it. I think you should leave because he’s-
Right here.
My eyes widened before I sharply turned to see Landon standing in all his glory with the look of disapproval.
So you must be the lucky man. Aiden commented, breaking the millisecond silence.
Who is this ? Landon addressed me only as if he wasn’t in the room.
Her Ex.
Don’t lie. I grounded out to him, turning to him. You need to leave now.
I’ll keep in touch. He winked before walking out, but he stopped right next to Landon before looking him square up and down and he scoffed before walking out.
Oh hell no. Landon followed him out, ignoring my protest.
Landon stop ! I whispered yelled at him, following behind trying to grab ahold of his arm, but he snatched his hand away causing my skin to feel like it had been burned.
We both turned the corner to see the elevator door shutting with him in it along with my other coworkers.
Landon didn’t stop there, he went straight to the reception, placing his palms on the counter top. Who let him up here without my consent ! He demanded to know.
H-he said he knew Miss Daniels, I-I didn’t know sir, I thought she knew. She rushed to her conclusion.
From now on everything goes through me. He turned to look at me his eyes furious. My office now.
He didn’t leave me any room to argue as he walked to his office and I groaned before following after him. Who in the hell was that ? He demanded to know.
Lets not do this right now. Turning my head to the door wondering if people could hear him.
Why the fuck not, you can have anybody else in here but when I want to talk it’s a later ? He questioned.
Yes.
That must have been a fucking joke, do you think I’m going to wait to talk about this ?
I have to get back to work. Leaving the raging bull behind. I knew I was in serious trouble after this.

The car ride was silent. I tried to lighten the mood by playing music but he cut that off automatically and I’m left with looking out the window.
Not too soon we pulled up and I made beeline straight upstairs. Embre. His voice held so much angry that I stopped, my foot not even reaching the first step.
Yes ? I answered back, turning towards him my shoulders sagging in defeat.
Who was the man in my building ?
Nobody.
Are you sure ? Because if my ears are fucking messing with me I heard him say your ex. The tone of voice was hard.
He’s not my ex. I answered his questions directly, but he didn’t seem to like my answers.
What was he then ? A fling ?
You know damn well you are the only one I’ve ever been with.
Don’t try to switch this on me, I asked you a question.
And I gave you an answer. I tell him and he runs his hands through his hair in frustration, before turning back around to leave.
And where are you going ? I followed after him, seeing him get in the car again.
Out. He shut the car door not giving me any room to protest his outing. Watching the garage doors open, I quickly went to back of the car standing there.
Landon stop this ! I yelled so he could hear me from outside of the car. This was getting ridiculous.
He opened the car door. Either talk or I’m leaving. Pick one. He left me no room to argue with me on that. I’m sick of this shit.
Sick of what ? What are you sick of.
You. You don’t want to communicate and you expect me to prance my ass back into the house and do what ? Listen to your bullshit answers-
That was the truth. I interrupted. Damn Landon, Aiden was the man in my office ! Happy ? I moved so I was standing in front of him while he still sat in the car. He wasn’t a fling or anything, he was a friend a long time ago and we went on two dates and I called it quits.
So you lied to me. He gently pushed me back to stand out of the car, towering over me. You told me you haven’t done anything. Hell, you put it as if you were a nun and here comes this bullshit. He slammed the car door, walking back into the house.
The sound of the garage doors chugged down, startling me, before I once again followed. That’s not fair.
Oh that you’ve been on two dates with the man and he showed up to the office ? Please humor me.
It didn’t matter to me and it still doesn’t. I was trying my best to control my emotions but I failed. You try having your love life non existent since the age of 16 and tell me you wouldn’t feel a little desperate to know what’s its like to be with someone.
He tried to speak over me but I wasn’t done. You want to talk ? Fine. I threw my heels down. Aiden was there as a friend but he grew a crush on me and guess what I felt ? Happy that I could at least could someone’s attention even if I didn’t feel the same way. So I did it. And you know why it didn’t matter ? Because he never did, not like that anyway. It was forced. Imagine me telling you that ?
It would have been the truth. Landon pressed.
What ? Oh hey I’ve been single since the ancient ages. Yeah that would have been a winner.
So that’s what he was to you ? A friend ? He zoned out of the conversation I was having.
Isn’t that what I just said ?
And surprisingly he’s back. He hinted and my eyes widened at his assumption.
You think I’m cheating on you ? My voice held so much hatred for that word.
Are you ? Is that why he’s back ? Am I not good enough for you anymore ?
Landon, where the hell is this coming from-
Answer the question.
I’m carrying your child and you’re asking me if I’m cheating on you ? I don’t have feelings for anybody else but you ! The answer is hell no, and I wouldn’t do that ever. It grew deadly silent as my chest heaved up and down and I watched Landon’s finger tick before he started to shrug out of his jacket.
Are you going to say anything ? He began his adventure upstairs to our room but he stopped at my words, turning only his head a half degree.
