After a long while, the door gave way and Anthony Roosevelt appeared. Natasha stood upright in shock. She had almost lost all hope, thinking that Anthony Roosevelt wouldn’t come.
His face was calm, “I inquired from the men that are keeping you here why you were here and I was told it was on Dmitry’s command.”
“Yes… Dmitry locked me up here cause he found me beating his fiancee,” Natasha stated.
Anthony Roosevelt tucked his two hands in his suit Pocket and spoke, “and why will you do that?”
“She did some hurtful things in the past. I can never forgive her,” Natasha said. “I can’t just start pounding her without a reason. That woman is a heartless murderer.”
Anthony sighed. “This must be a personal issue to Dmitry, I do not think I should intervene.” He said thoughtfully. After a few seconds, he added, “I’ll see what I can do.”
Then he turned, about to walk away, Natasha quickly spoke, “you once asked if I’d like to be your friend, is the offer still available?”
Natasha had thought that as a friend of Anthony, there was no way he would want her to keep being here.
Anthony turned back and said, “it’s still on.”
“I’ll be your friend.” Natasha quickly spoke. “Please get me out of here.”
“Dmitry is my close friend, I’ll speak to him.”
“Please do that fast, I’m dying here. It’s my fifth day here and I’m yet to eat proper food ” Natasha said.
Took a while before Anthony spoke again, “I know you suddenly agreed to be my friend cause you want me to get you out of here.” He added. “But it’s alright. I’m not offended.” Then he walked out.
What he said was true but then, she had to do what she had to do.
That night, Natasha was escorted out of the building blindfolded and then stuffed to the backseat of the car. She had no idea where she was being taken to but she hoped in all that she was being released.
Then the car transporting her came to a halt and then she was made to step down, the blindfold on her eyes was removed and at once, the men who brought her to that very spot zoomed off.
Natasha looked around and exhaled happily, for she had been dropped right before her house. This must be due to Anthony’s help.
Natasha then walked inside her house and went to shower because she hadn’t even bathed for the last five days. She cooked and ate then slept for a couple of hours.
When she woke up, she placed a call across to Anthony, she felt very indebted to him. If not for Anthony, maybe she would have died of hunger inside that place. The call rang but wasn’t answered.
Since he’s a king, Natasha believed he could be busy so she didn’t bother calling him again. Then her mind trailed over to her children. Rose and Marcus, she desperately wants to see them again but Ruby has appointed someone to keep an eye on them daily.
Natasha wished she could just present the original DNA certificate to Dmitry, but the problem is he won’t even have a look at it since his perception of her is negative. He would never trust her as long as he keeps believing she’s the murderer of Titania and Valentina.
What she must do is to make him see that she’s innocent and what better way can she do that than to help him recover his memory. Although he had said she can help me heal, the truth was, it will be a difficult task. Recovering memories that had faded away from the brain will take lots of effort.
Natasha’s heart was heavy. She was overburdened. Nonetheless, she would start to work on creating portions that can hasten Dmitry’s memory recovery.
While Natasha was lost in her thoughts, her phone chirped, seeing that it was Anthony, she sat upright and answered the call.
“Hey.”
“Natasha.”
Natasha swallowed, “thank you so much. I’m very grateful for helping me out.”
“It’s okay.”
There was a long awkward moment of silence, Natasha thought of how she could let him know she was serious about being his friend so she said, “erm… How about we have dinner together? We can get to talk and get to know each other better.”
“I’m currently out of Leaf City but whenever I’m back again, I’ll let you know.”
“Oh… okay,” Natasha replied.
“But if you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out to me, okay?”
Natasha’s heart melted at his caring words, she even almost cried, “thank you so much, Anthony.”
“You are welcome. Take care.” Then the call came to an end.
Three days later, Gen Ichiro sat before Natasha in her office, for Natasha had now occupied the CEO’s office but she still didn’t let anyone know her true identity. Many staff in the company continue to think that Natasha is just a random staff sent by the legendary miracle doctor from the West. Unknown to them that she’s the Legendary miracle doctor.
“Inform Dmitry we’ve been working towards the medicine that can help him recover from his memory loss. But he needs to start visiting the hospital tomorrow so that I can start administering it to him.”
“Is the medicine really ready?” Gen Ichiro asked.
“Not yet but do as I’ve said.” Natasha said and Gen nodded.
“One more thing, I need you to go to this school and find these two kids,” Natasha placed the picture of her kids on the table as well as the address of the school they attend. “Understand that there is a bodyguard keeping eyes on them, find a way to dismiss the guard. Then ask the two kids if they’d like to see me, if their answer is ‘yes’ bring them to me. If their answer is a no, ask them why but secretly give them this phone, my number is the only contact saved there.”
“Got it, ma’am.” Gen Ichiro said and stood. Soon, he was out of sight.
Natasha hoped that her kids would agree to come to see her. About an hour later, Natasha received a knock on the door and she spoke, “come in!”
She jumped up merrily as soon as she saw Marcus and Rose, they were looking radiant in their very neat and ironed school uniform.
Once she was out of her desk, Rose ran to hug her while Marcus went to sit on the seat before her desk like an adult. “I was thinking you will never reach out to us?” Marcus said.
“Of course not. I do not want to rush it since there’s someone now monitoring you,” Natasha said. “Marcus, don’t you miss me?”
Since Marcus didn’t even make an attempt to hug her, he wasn’t even staring at her, instead, he was fiddling with the pen he found on her desk.
He smirked and then looked up at her. Natasha exhaled in surprise, mostly because it felt as if she was looking at Dmitry, the resemblance between both of them is just so striking.
“Of course I do,” Marcus said. It’s just that he had more mastery over his emotions than Rose plus he wasn’t used to hugging. Ruby has never hugged him nor has Dmitry. It was Rose who hugs both adults sometimes. This was how he had grown up.
“Come here and hug me,” Natasha said, opening her arms wide.
Marcus stepped down from the chair and went to her then hugged her dearly. Natasha carried the big boy, “can you even carry me?” Asked Marcus.
“Well, I am.” Natasha chuckled. Marcus smiled for a long time while burying his cute head on Natasha’s shoulder.
He mumbled, “I wish you were… our mom.” He said this from a heart of pain.
‘Well, I am, Marcus,’ Natasha said in her mind, she couldn’t utter it out, at least not yet.
Natasha then dropped the little one gently and then gestured for them to sit on the couches.
Natasha’s office was two times larger than a master bedroom of any house so apart from the office desk and office chairs, there was a section that looked more or less like a living room, with standard Italian couches and a 250-inch television.
Natasha sat between her two kids, holding both of them in their hands, “I miss you.” She said these again to both of her kids.
Rose leaned her head on her and said, “you are so sweet, why can’t you just be our mom?”
Natasha smiled, “have you guys stopped eating the food you were being served?”
“Yes…” Rose answered. “And I’ve not been sick for the past three days. Brother had been secretly ordering food for us.”
“Ha…. Sweet,” Natasha said and then looked at Marcus who was quiet.
“Marcus, will you say something?”
“Why will anyone be trying to hurt us?” Marcus asked. “Did you know that my puppy is now sick?”
“Oh really?”
“Of course. I told you I’ll feed it the food they are serving us to my puppy to confirm. That means the food is poisonous. We are still young, how come we already have enemies?” Marcus Lamented.
“I’ve told my brother that we should tell Daddy about it, but he said we shouldn’t,” Rose said to Natasha, leaning on her comfortably. “I’ve been scared. What if those putting Poison in her food suddenly appear in our sleep and strangle us to death?”
Natasha hugged Rose dearly, “that will never happen.”
Natasha felt so bad, how can her children live amidst danger. Who else will be trying to poison her kids if not for Ruby. Ruby wants her kids to die and she’s doing it meticulously. But as long as she’s alive, that will never happen. She will protect her kids with her life.
“Don’t let Daddy know yet. He won’t believe anyone is trying to hurt you, the best he can do is change the cook but that wouldn’t solve anything. It will even raise suspicion,” Natasha said. “We need to keep these a secret until we are able to expose the culprit behind this.” The last thing she wanted now is for Ruby to know that her plot has been uncovered.
“Natasha, we are still having lectures in school. If the teacher didn’t see us, she may report us to daddy,” Marcus said.
Although the kids were picked up during break period but break period is now almost over.
It’s just that Natasha didn’t find this time enough to spend with her little jewels. She wants to spend forever with them.
All of a sudden, the door opened and Gen Ichiro rushed in, “ma’am…” He shivered. “Mr. Dmitry is here… right at the doorstep of the office.”
