He called Charlotte several times, but each call was hung up.
Quentin felt a sense of frustration and decided not to call again. He drove straight to the Pittman family’s rental house.
In the car, Charlotte looked at her phone, seeing three or four missed calls. Her anger subsided a bit; it seemed he wasn’t entirely heartless.
If he called one more time to apologize, she might forgive him this time, she thought.
But after waiting for half a minute, the phone remained silent. Feeling extremely uncomfortable, she set the phone aside.
Was he really not going to call again?
She took a deep breath. If that was the case, so be it.
“Ha, with another woman by his side, he probably doesn’t need me anymore,” she thought sadly.
Just then, the phone rang again. She quickly answered, only to find it wasn’t Quentin calling but Russell Pittman.
Why was Russell calling her?
From what Charlotte knew, her grandfather never called without a reason. If he was calling now, it certainly wasn’t out of concern for her.
But since she had already answered, she had no choice but to continue, “Hello, Grandpa, is there something you need?”
Russell’s voice came through with a heavy tone, “Charlotte, there’s nothing much, just that Grandpa hasn’t been feeling well lately and misses you all. I wanted to get everyone together.”
“Previously, I was wrong about many things. I couldn’t see clearly. It was my mistake!”
He sounded repentant, “But ever since Nikolas ended up like that, I’ve realized a lot. I hope you can let go of past grievances and come see Grandpa.”
Russell coughed a few times, sounding very weak.
Charlotte’s heart softened. “Grandpa, you don’t need to say that. No matter what, we are still your descendants.”
“But today, I’m a bit busy.”
“Ah, today the Pittman family finally managed to gather everyone. If you don’t come, it won’t feel complete. Just give Grandpa some face.”
Charlotte hesitated for a moment but eventually agreed. Russell’s persistent pleading left her no choice.
After all, he was still her grandfather. She couldn’t be heartless and cruel.
From both an emotional and rational standpoint, she had to go today.
She sighed. Honestly, she didn’t want to see the faces of the Pittman family members.
But what choice did she have now?
“Nash, take me to the Pittman family. I have some matters to attend to.”
“Sure,” Nash nodded with a smile.
Soon, Nash’s car arrived at the Pittman family house. Charlotte stepped out and said, “Maybe you should go back first?”
“I’ll take a taxi home later.”
Initially, she just wanted to ride Nash’s car to annoy Quentin. Now it was time for Nash to leave.
Too much contact wouldn’t be good; she knew where to draw the line.
Nash smiled and said, “It’s okay. I’ll wait here for you. I won’t feel at ease until I see you home. Besides, I’ve heard you don’t get along well with the Pittman family. I’m worried they’ll bully you if I’m not here.”
Nash’s sincere words brought Charlotte a bit of comfort.
“Alright then.”
Facing the Pittman family alone wasn’t something she wanted to do.
Nash smiled and followed Charlotte into the Pittman family hall.
Inside the hall were some core members of the Pittman family. The head of the family, Russell, sat in his usual high seat.
“Charlotte is back?”
“Sit down, sit down-”
Everyone was unusually polite to Charlotte today, which made her frown slightly.
