Chapter 518: With Me Here, No One Can Control You

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-7-28

“Harriet, do you want to marry that Martial Arts genius?” Flynn asked seriously.
Harriet bit her lip tightly and shook her head. “I don’t want to, but they…”
“If you don’t want to, then you won’t marry!” Flynn interrupted directly.
Stephanie also advised, “Harriet, Stellan is a madman. He has already tortured two concubines to death!”
“Don’t have any illusions about Zion either. When Stellan tortures you, he won’t care!”
In Ostrad, the preference for males over females was deeply ingrained.
In recent decades, due to dowries, houses, and cars making it difficult for ordinary people to afford sons, the expectation for boys had diminished.
But this did not apply to wealthy families!
They had no such financial pressures and had large estates to inherit. The preference for males not only did not weaken but grew stronger as the family expanded.
Daughters of wealthy families were merely tools for alliances.
Their families were large and prosperous, with many girls in the clan. Even if Stellan tortured one to death, so what?
It was insignificant!
On the contrary, the death of a girl in the clan could make the Wallace family feel more guilty.
In the future, when seeking help from them, the Wallace family would be more willing to agree.
In wealthy families, family affection always came after interests.
They would not offend a powerful family for the death of a girl in their clan.
Moreover, Harriet was just an illegitimate daughter. Zion had ignored her for twenty years, proving his cold-blooded nature.
Expecting him to step in when Harriet was in trouble was pure wishful thinking!
“No way. He said he would make it up to me, acknowledge my identity, and raise me as his own daughter.”
“And even if what you say is true and Stellan is a beast, I can’t refuse…”
Harriet said with some despair.
“Make it up to you? Can he really make it up?” Flynn sneered.
If Zion had any feelings for Harriet at all, he wouldn’t have let his wife torment Harriet’s mother.
Acid on the face and severed tendons.
He wouldn’t have ignored her in Niarak for twenty years.
He wouldn’t have made her a tool for marriage alliances!
“Harriet, I know you crave fatherly love, but Zion is not a competent father!”
“People say Zion has the look of an eagle and a wolf; such people only see benefits!”
“He is the king of Pelens with immense power. Of course, you don’t have the right to refuse him. But Mr. Clark can help you escape here!”
“With Mr. Clark’s abilities, helping you change your identity and flee Niarak is not difficult. You could go to Haralu or the Northern Territory, far from Zion’s reach!”
Stephanie advised earnestly.
Harriet shook her head pessimistically:
“It’s useless. His influence is nationwide. He has friends among many wealthy family heads.”
“Even if I escape, he can bring me back.”
Pelens was the capital of Shipmeda State Province.
The seat of power.
An ancient capital of three dynasties from a thousand years ago.
The foremost of sixteen cities; compared to Niarak, a prefecture-level city, it was far richer and more important.
Zion being called the king of Pelens was proof of his illustrious status.
She feared that even if she fled to the ends of the earth, it would be useless.
Zion was not someone like Orion could compare with!
“Even so, it’s better than staying in Niarak and being manipulated! In another place, you might live out your life peacefully.”
“In Niarak, you’ll only be at others’ mercy!”
Stephanie said anxiously with sympathy in her eyes.
“Escape? Why should she escape?” Flynn snorted coldly and said to Harriet:
“Don’t worry. With me here, no one can control you. On your birthday, I’ll talk to Zion myself!”
Who did Zion think he was? Did Flynn need to care about him?
Harriet was under Flynn’s protection!
“No! Please don’t! I don’t want to trouble you anymore,” Harriet said urgently.
In her heart, she was very grateful to Flynn.
She didn’t expect herself to be so important to Flynn that he would help her again and again.
Flynn’s unparalleled dominance also gave her a strong sense of security.
As long as Flynn was by her side, she felt she had nothing to fear.
But that was the king of Pelens!
A renowned figure in the north and south.
Harriet didn’t believe Zion would give Flynn face.
Stephanie was also stunned.
She told Flynn about this matter hoping he could help Harriet change her identity and escape from Niarak.
But listening to Flynn’s words now, it seemed he wanted to confront Zion head-on!
Yes! Harriet had mentioned that Flynn knew many big shots in Niarak.
Orion, Edwin, Uriah-these were all famous figures in Niarak.
But their influence was limited to Niarak!
Even if they joined forces, they couldn’t shake Zion!
Niarak was just a prefecture-level city; Orion and others were like elementary students compared to Zion.
Just as she wanted to dissuade Flynn, Flynn asked Harriet: “Do you trust me?”
Harriet was stunned and didn’t know why Flynn asked this but nodded anyway.
“If you trust me, then let me handle this matter. Okay?” Flynn didn’t want to explain anything to Harriet further.
To ordinary people, the king of Pelens was like nobility; they couldn’t even get close.
But to Flynn, he was just a small fry!
“Okay… okay!” Harriet knew Flynn’s temper; once he decided on something, no one could change his mind.
There was no convincing him otherwise!
She hoped that on her birthday when Flynn saw Zion’s entourage, his temper would calm down a bit.
She held no hope for a favorable outcome.
Zion’s power was too great; it also involved the Wallace family-a Martial Arts clan.
Flynn stopping her marriage was akin to defying heaven itself.
Stephanie saw Flynn’s serious expression and sighed helplessly without offering any further opinions.
This matter was difficult either way.
All she could do now was silently wish them well; there were no other options available.
While Harriet harbored worries in her heart, footsteps in high heels echoed from outside the door as Rose entered the security department office.
“Ms. Sharp!” Harriet quickly greeted her.
Stephanie also smiled.
Rose nodded and smiled at Flynn: “How did it go?”
“It’s just some family issues; I promised to help resolve them so she’s not leaving,” Flynn replied.
Rose nodded slightly before smiling at Harriet: “Since Mr. Clark is helping out there should be no difficulties; focus on your work.”
“If you have any problems feel free to tell me.”
“The company is very busy lately; stay here and help me.”
Harriet felt touched by this gesture and nodded heavily.
She hadn’t expected herself-a regular employee-to receive dual care from both Flynn and Rose.
“Oh right Ms. Sharp,” Harriet began “Yesterday I booked thirty tables at Cherry Blossom Inn.”
“Each table costs around twenty thousand dollars; I’ll get you the menu list.”
Harriet went over to retrieve some documents from her desk.
After Acebegron Clear Relief collapsed Energence Pharmaceuticals took over Swanson’s Group assets making Rose billions allowing her reclaim two lost enterprises thus deciding on hosting celebration banquet.
With Energence Pharmaceuticals employing over five thousand staff no single hotel could accommodate such large gathering hence settling instead upon inviting management level personnel above group leader while issuing thousand-dollar bonuses for regular employees.
Entrusted by Rose with task Harriet placed deposit at Cherry Blossom Inn.
“No need I’ve faith in your judgment,” Rose waved dismissively continuing:
“I came here regarding this matter actually; Cherry Blossom Inn called earlier.”
“They’re expecting an important guest tonight.”
“For security reasons they’ve decided suspending large gatherings starting tomorrow until said guest departs.”
“They’re asking whether we prefer advancing or postponing our event.”
“If neither option suits us Cherry Blossom Inn offers triple deposit refund as apology.”
“A distinguished guest?” Harriet exclaimed surprised:
“Cherry Blossom Inn is Niarak’s five-star hotel earning millions daily!”
“What kind of distinguished guest warrants exclusive service from Cherry Blossom Inn?”
