Charlotte watched Nash’s departing figure with a hint of curiosity. It had been years since she last saw him, and now he had the capital to participate in the auction for Time Group? However, considering that Nash was backed by the international financial giant Marblegate Group, it wasn’t surprising.
Quentin said slowly, “Let’s go. We need to pay and collect Eternal Love.”
Led by a waiter, they arrived backstage where a few people were quietly chatting about business matters. Their conversation ceased as soon as Quentin and Charlotte entered.
A middle-aged man stood up and turned his gaze to Quentin. “Mr. Holland, it’s an honor!”
“Likewise,” Quentin nodded slightly in response.
The middle-aged man smiled, “I am the owner of this auction house. If I remember correctly, we met a few years ago at a banquet hosted by the Howard family.”
“Is that so?” Quentin smiled. “I’ve been away from Stresall for several years and don’t recall much from the past. My apologies.”
The man laughed, “No problem. It’s just that Mr. Holland remains as impressive as ever. People say the Howard family has fallen, yet here you are, spending thirty million dollars on Eternal Love for a lady.”
“It seems the Howard family might rise again!”
Though his words sounded complimentary, they were laced with sarcasm, implying that spending so much money on a woman was disgraceful given the Howard family’s downfall.
Quentin detected the mockery in his tone and responded indifferently, “It doesn’t matter. As long as Charlotte is happy, that’s all I care about.”
“Besides, do you really think thirty million dollars is a significant amount to me? If so, your perspective is quite limited.” Quentin patted his shoulder.
The man felt embarrassed by Quentin’s words and laughed awkwardly, “My perspective is indeed limited. I spoke out of turn. Please don’t take offense, Mr. Holland.”
But inwardly, he was disdainful.
You talk big, but where’s your effort to reclaim the Howard family’s assets?
Quentin ignored him and asked, “Where is what I bought?”
“Bring Mr. Holland’s item!”
The middle-aged man waved his hand, and someone quickly brought over the item.
Quentin took the ornate box and opened it to reveal a dazzling diamond necklace. A smile appeared in his eyes.
He took out the necklace and said, “Let me put this on you.”
He lifted the necklace and placed it around Charlotte’s snow-white neck.
Charlotte blushed, her cheeks turning rosy.
When the exquisite diamond necklace adorned her neck, she looked even more radiant and elegant.
At that moment, a young woman walked in and asked softly, “Excuse me, are you Mr. Quentin?”
Hearing her voice, everyone turned around. Quentin nodded, “I am. And you are?”
“Our president would like to invite you and this lady upstairs for a chat. Please follow me.”
Charlotte was surprised and asked, “May I know who your president is?”
“Our president is the one who won the bid for Time Group’s shares. As for their name, I’m afraid I can’t disclose it here.”
The young woman spoke politely.
“Is that so?” Charlotte nodded slightly. “I understand.”
She glanced at Quentin without saying much but smiled as she removed the necklace from her neck. “One moment.”
Quentin stopped her hand and said, “No need to take it off. It looks beautiful on you.”
“If you take it off, then what’s the point of me buying it?”
Hearing this, Charlotte’s face lit up with a smile. “Alright.”
“Please follow me.” The young woman gestured for them to follow.
She was Virginia’s secretary and confidante, though she didn’t know much about this man. However, she knew that her president held him in high regard.
Quentin held Charlotte’s hand as they walked upstairs.
The secretary led the way.
Behind Quentin, the middle-aged man was astonished. Why would someone from the VIP room invite Quentin and Charlotte?
Although he didn’t know much about the person in the VIP room, he knew they were very influential and powerful.
Could it be that Quentin knew this person?
Thinking this, he regretted mocking Quentin earlier. What if Quentin really rose to power again and held a grudge against him?
