Chapter 415: Can You Afford It?

Book:Fallen Heir Rising Published:2024-7-18

What kind of woman could tame a wild wolf like Quentin? Virginia couldn’t achieve this, so how did this woman manage it? She felt both envious and curious about her.
“I’m becoming more and more interested in you…” Virginia murmured coldly, her red lips barely moving as she concealed the disappointment in her eyes.
She knew that she and Quentin had once been very close, just a step away from breaking the barrier between them. But now, she could clearly feel Quentin’s distance from her.
If only she had been braver back then, would the outcome have been better? But there were no “ifs” in life. Everything was already set in stone.
She had heard that the woman had already borne children for him. With Quentin’s character, he would never abandon someone unless they had wronged him. This was precisely why she liked him. If Quentin were a fickle man, she wouldn’t have been interested in him at all.
After all, she admired the hero who stood tall and fought bravely on the battlefield.
As white clouds drifted outside the window, Virginia’s thoughts wandered far away…
The next day, the auction took place. This Stresall auction was one of the largest of the year, attracting a vast number of attendees. Outside the auction venue, cars were parked in neat rows on both sides, including many luxury and high-end vehicles.
Most of the attendees were prominent figures from Stresall, including small business owners, big bosses, and commercial giants from various sectors. Many were curious about who would win the biggest auction item of the day-the ownership of Time Group. This was their main focus; other auction items were secondary.
The auction had high standards, with an entry fee of $20, 000 per person, making it unaffordable for most people.
Charlotte felt a pang of pain upon hearing the price. Twenty thousand dollars! And that was just the entry fee. It was a significant amount of money that only wealthy individuals could afford or be willing to spend.
“Quentin, maybe we shouldn’t go in. It’s such a waste of money,” she suggested. “Forty thousand dollars for both of us could be better spent on our children.”
Quentin smiled and said, “It’s fine. Let’s go in and take a look. You might find something you like. Besides, aren’t you curious about who will get Time Group’s ownership?”
Charlotte felt tempted. Although she knew Time Group wouldn’t fall into her hands, she still felt a bit eager. After all, she had the Heavenly Fragrance Collection with its numerous beauty formulas. It would be a shame if they went unused.
Quentin had promised to acquire Time Group for her, but Charlotte knew this was unlikely since the starting bid was $2 billion. Quentin couldn’t possibly have that much money, so she didn’t hold out much hope.
“Alright, let’s go in and take a look,” Charlotte agreed, nodding.
As they walked towards the entrance of the auction venue, they encountered two familiar figures-Georgia Pittman and Brian Parry.
“You two are here too?!” Georgia exclaimed in disbelief.
Charlotte felt exasperated. Running into them here was truly unlucky; seeing this couple always annoyed her.
Brian smirked disdainfully and said, “Oh, are you here to watch the fun? How presumptuous of you. Do you think you can just walk into a place like this?”
“Today’s auction features a major item starting at $2 billion. Most people don’t even qualify to enter! Just the entry fee alone is $20, 000 per person. Can you afford that?”
He sneered, “Two paupers like you should be grateful just to survive after leaving the Pittman family! And yet you think you can attend such a high-class event? What a joke!”
