Sophia’s POV
A few days have passed since I shared the news of my pregnancy with Alexander. He has been incredibly supportive and involved, making an effort to understand every detail of my physical condition. Today, I find myself at Alexander’s magnificent mansion, a place that was once unfamiliar but now feels more like a second home.
As I enter the house, I’m greeted by the warmth and familiarity of the staff. They seem used to my presence now, acknowledging me with smiles and nods. It’s comforting to see that they’ve accepted me as a part of Alexander’s life despite the unconventional circumstances.
Alexander leads me to a cozy sitting area where we can talk privately. He’s prepared a cup of herbal tea for me, making sure I’m comfortable before delving into the topic at hand. I appreciate his attention to detail and his genuine concern for my well-being.
“How do you feel?” He asks.
I take a sip of the soothing tea, appreciating the comforting warmth it brings. “Physically, I’m experiencing some changes,” I reply, my voice calm but tinged with a hint of uncertainty. “My appetite has been fluctuating, and I find myself getting tired more easily. But overall, I’m doing fine.”
Alexander listens attentively, his eyes never leaving mine. “Are you taking care of yourself? Have you been following a healthy diet and getting enough rest?”
I nod, grateful for his concern. “Yes, I’ve been trying my best to eat nutritious meals and get plenty of rest. I’ve also started taking the supplements you provided. Thank you for that.”
He goes quiet and looks at me, suddenly asking a question that derails the initial conversation. “Your roommates…”
“What about them?”
“Well, I’m just curious,” he says. “How did you know them? After all, it’s quite unusual for you to stay alone with two men.”
I have no idea why he is curious about that, but I remember the first day I met Jake and Tyler. My former roommate suddenly changed the locks and left my luggage at the front door to evict me. So I had nowhere else to go at the time. The two of them had offered to let me stay for the night, and I ended up renting with them.
I look at Alexander. “Well, it’s not much. We just met a year ago, and I began to live with them.”
He purses his lips as he moves closer to me. “Are you interested in any of them, or are you in love with any of them?”
I look at him with skepticism, unable to understand where that was coming from. For some reason, the three men are suspicious of one other, and I can’t understand why Alexander is being so insistent.
“No, I’m not in love with any of them,” I answer.
He seems relieved and relaxed that I can’t help but ask, “Why are you so concerned about them?”
“Well, I think it wouldn’t be proper for you to be in love with someone else while pregnant with my child. I’d love for you to make sure that doesn’t happen. At least not while you’re carrying my child.”
I nod gently at this. Suddenly, I feel a gentle vibration in my stomach, causing me to pause mid-sentence. I place my hand on my abdomen, my eyes widening in surprise. It’s still early in the pregnancy, yet I can feel the baby moving so quickly. It’s a surprising and overwhelming situation.
Alexander notices my reaction and leans forward, concern etched on his face. “Sophia, are you alright? What happened?”
I managed to compose myself and reply, my voice filled with awe and disbelief. “The baby… It’s moving! How is that possible?”
A mixture of emotions flickers across Alexander’s face-amazement, joy, and a touch of paternal pride.
However, as a medical student, the symptoms I have been seeing make me very worried. The baby is growing too fast.
I look at Alexander and ask, “Do you think I’m suffering from hypochondria?”
He reaches out and places his hand gently on my belly, feeling the subtle movements beneath his palm. His touch is tender, and a sense of wonder fills the room.
“This is a normal reaction, Sophia,” he says, his voice filled with warmth. “Feeling the baby move is an incredible experience, even at this early stage. It’s a sign that the baby is growing and developing.”
I watch as his eyes light up with a mix of joy and fascination. For some reason, my heart beats faster at the way he leans over with a hand over my stomach. His meticulous care and genuine excitement make me feel like I’ve truly become his wife, not just a temporary arrangement for the sake of a child.
As the baby continues to move, Alexander keeps his hand on my belly, his touch grounding and comforting. It’s a beautiful moment, and for the first time, I feel a deep connection to the life growing inside me.
Taking advantage of the vulnerability and worry I’ve been feeling lately, Alexander leans closer to me and speaks softly, his voice filled with warmth and affection. “Sophia, why don’t you stay here tonight? It’s more convenient, and I can ensure that you’re well taken care of. Plus, it would be wonderful to have you closer.”
I stare at his face quietly, pondering the sudden invitation. But I don’t reject it.
“Okay, sure, I’ll stay here tonight.”
