18. You found her?

Nicklaus’s POV
I immediately healed myself using my wolf powers, but it did hurt a little.
“Did you see anyone around when you found me?” I questioned them.
“No, we didn’t. It was just you.”
“I see. Let’s return to the pack immediately.”
“Yes, Alpha Nicklaus.”
They got everything set, and I entered the car. I thought about everything going on. The Black Moon Pack, known for their darkness, had finally joined the Silver Moon to fight against me? How clever of them.
I will do everything possible to ensure they lose this war. I will get my revenge on them and allow the Silver Moon Pack to roam freely after the war. This is what I owe Gabby. When the war calms down a little, I will come back to search for her. I will make sure not to leave without her. Nothing will stop me this time around, not even the witch’s spells.
We spent hours on the road before reaching my mansion, and I was welcomed by my pack, including the Beta.
“Welcome, Alpha Nicklaus. I’m glad you’re okay.”
“Where are they?” I asked about the people he rescued.
“They are eating now, and some of the injured ones are being treated as we speak,” he replied.
“Good. The Black Moon Pack is smarter than we think. We need to strategize a new plan for our revenge.”
“Yes, Alpha Nicklaus.”
“Get the warriors to the planning room. I’ll go change immediately,” I ordered, walking inside with growing hatred for the Black Moon Pack. I will ensure I wipe them all out, leaving no descendants to carry on their legacies.
I joined my warriors, and we created a new plan to fight the Black Moon Pack. However, I wasn’t pleased with it. I feel like with this plan, we might fail.
“Let’s work on something better here. We are dealing with people who have dark hearts-people who can murder children, rape women with no remorse at all. Those are the kind of people the Black Moon Pack is made up of. So, whatever plan we come up with must be able to eliminate them all.”
“Should we go with the bomb option, Alpha?”
“No, too many innocents like humans and other pack members would lose their lives. We can’t rely on innocent lives to end our enemies. I won’t support that. We still have enough time to come up with a better plan.”
“We will work on it, Alpha, and ensure the plan is the best.”
“Good. You can all be dismissed now, except for you, Martins,” I said, and they all left, leaving only my beta.
“Do you have anything to say?”
“Yes, Alpha Nicklaus. There’s a rumor going around that your ex-wife might end up with the Alpha of the Black Moon Pack.”
“My ex-wife?”
“Y-yes, Alpha.”
“I don’t really know how true the rumors are,” he added.
My beta seemed afraid of my response, but in reality, I felt disgusted about other women being referred to as my ex-wife. It reminded me of my own stupidity.
If she truly has close ties with the Black Moon Pack, I won’t be merciful.
“Send someone to investigate.” I casually threw out these words without any concern.
“Let me make something clear, Martins. Don’t refer to that woman as my ex-wife anymore. Let all our focus be on our revenge. We must show no weakness, understood?”
“Yes, I do, Alpha.”
“Good. You may leave.” He walked out.
Don’t worry, Gabby. I’ll do everything to restore peace so you can return home, where you belong. And I’m sure the child I saw you with is mine; the resemblance can’t be a coincidence. I’ll do everything to make you mine again. You are my mate, and mates stick together forever.
“Alpha Nicklaus, everyone is waiting for you in the meeting hall,” Martins said to me.
“Good. Tell me, what did you gather from their expressions?”
“I could see fear written all over them. They are scared because of their involvement with the Black Moon Pack,” he answered.
“Okay, let’s go then.” I walked in with him. I know I can do this. I was born an Alpha for a reason, and I won’t be the one to bring ruin to my tribe. I’d rather die than let that happen.
They all stood up to pay their respects as soon as they saw me. “You may be seated, and let’s get straight to the point. No beating around the bush,” I warned before the meeting began.
“Alpha Nicklaus, the solution to this war is in your hands. You brought this upon us when you married the daughter of the Silver Moon Pack and then divorced her.” I noticed other members tried to stop him, but from his expression, it was clear he wouldn’t be stopped until he spoke his mind.
“What do you suggest I do?” I asked him.
“To make peace with the Silver Moon Pack, you should accept being with the Alpha’s daughter again. That way, this extreme conflict might cease.”
“So you think it’s that easy? You expect me to kneel and beg my way to the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack? Not reuniting with his daughter isn’t a reason to start a war. His failure as an alpha and as a father is what caused this. We’re here today to talk about revenge. The Black Moon Pack has bitten off more than they can chew. We need to attack them immediately. I need a plan drawn up now.”
“Yes, Alpha Nicklaus.”
“And let me warn you all today-never speak to me in that manner again, or you will be punished. Focus on winning the war.” They were all frightened, and I smirked, allowing my Beta to conclude the meeting. These people are foolish and cowardly. They used to be under my father’s command, so they held some resentment toward me.
The beta joined me in the lobby, and I assigned him a task: “I need you to send some of our men south to look for Gabriella. That was the last place I saw her.”
“I will do just that, Alpha Nicklaus. I am glad you finally found her after searching all these years,” he smiled.
“I have a question I’ve been wanting to ask since the war started.” I was eager to know. “Go on, ask. I hope it’s something within my ability to answer.”
“Is ending things with Alpha Tracy and this war, all because of her, worth it? Do you feel any regret?”
“My only regret is letting go of someone that I care for. Yes, it is worth it. That’s why I will try my best to ensure we win. Do you doubt me?” He immediately went down on his knees. “I have never doubted you for a moment. You are wise, Alpha Nicklaus. Your fight is my fight. I will fight and die for you in battle. My loyalty is to you as your beta.”
“You are a true friend. Come here.” I helped him up and hugged him, saying, “Let’s make sure we win this war and do our best not to be mocked by The Black Moon Pack.” He nodded.
I had an important event to attend. There was no way I was going to miss the wedding of a distant friend. My beta had to remain at the tribe to ensure the revenge plans went well.
I received a message from an unknown caller that read, “Be careful at the wedding. The Silver Moon tribe and the Black Moon tribe are planning to assassinate you secretly. Be cautious of everything, including the food and water.”
The Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack was bolder than I had imagined. I decided to make a plan to outsmart them all.
I dialed my beta’s number and told him about the mysterious text from an unknown number. He asked for a few minutes to join me with more men.
I decided to go along with the plan. I would act drunk, as I suspected they might drug my drink. By luring them into my trap, I could turn the situation to my advantage.
Then I had an idea: If I could capture some members of the Black Moon Pack, I could learn about their operations. It was a perfect strategy for me to gain an upper hand.
When my drink was served, I handed it to the wolf guy beside me, saying, “Enjoy.”
“Thank you so much, Alpha. You are so kind,” he said.
I regretfully knew that someone had to drink it to confirm if it was drugged. Less than twenty minutes later, he started behaving oddly. This was my cue to take note of the Black Moon members.
They were well-prepared, and I relished the unfolding events. During another dance with the couples, I acted drunk, making my way to the woods and ensuring they followed me. I hid in a dark spot where they couldn’t see me.
“I think we lost him,” one of them said.
“Let’s split up to search for him,” another suggested. This was exactly what I needed from them.
I incapacitated them one by one, striking a part of their bodies to make them fall unconscious. Just as I had them under control, the beta entered with some warriors. They were amazed to see that I had everything handled. “Lock them up. We can use them in our plans.”
“Understood, Alpha,” the beta echoed.
We placed them in a cage, secured with silver. Despite subjecting them to severe torture, they remained tight-lipped about the inner workings of their pack.
The beta approached me, saying, “I’ve received news about the whereabouts of your mate, Alpha Nicklaus.”
“Really? Let’s discuss this outside.”
As we stepped out, I questioned my beta, “Have you found her?”
