Gabriella’s POV
“Leave,” I reiterated, my words resounding in his ears once more.
“That’s the very thing I refuse to do again, mate. I refuse to leave and I don’t want you out of my sight again.”
“Are you deaf? They can’t be us. I am happily married. Do you want me to call my husband right now so you know I’m not lying?” I said it just to reinforce my lies.
He scoffed, saying, “That would be a mistake if you do.”
“Alpha Nicklaus, are you trying to threaten me? If I bring my husband here, will you get rid of him and claim me as yours?”
I knew he didn’t love me; I was just trying to provoke him to leave. Four years ago, he had called me a useless Omega. If he was coming for me now, it was only for my sister. Or perhaps he wanted to establish a connection with my daughter, who bore a striking resemblance to him.
I wouldn’t let anyone take away what belonged to me anymore.
He remained silent, and I continued, “Are you planning to do to my husband what you did to your father, so you can seize the throne?”
“Enough,” he roared at me. I won’t lie, I felt a twinge of fear, but there was nothing he could do to me; of that, I was certain. So, I steadied myself, not showing a hint of fear.
“I forbid you to mention anything about my late father. You don’t know the full story.”
“Alpha Nicklaus, I’m done with this conversation. I need to leave now. And one final warning: do not interrupt me again, understood?” I pointed my finger at him while talking, but he grabbed me so tightly that we were uncomfortably close. My heart began to race irregularly. What was he trying to do?
“I’m deeply sorry, Gabby. Forgive my behavior and come back home to me. How can you so easily forget our first night together?”
“That’s all in the past now. Let go of me this instant. No matter what you say or do, I will never be yours.”
I tried to break free from his grip, but he was too strong. Then suddenly, Margret appeared with a portal and cast a spell, saying, “La vin deo.” Instantly, Alpha Nicklaus clutched his head, a look of agony on his face, and I slipped out of his grasp.
“Stop it! What are you doing to me?” He scowled, one hand still clutching his head. He deserved the pain; maybe this would be enough to make him release me.
“You heartless bastard,” Margret spat, delivering a forceful blow. I felt a pang of sympathy; he was already injured, and the pain from the spell, combined with Margret’s blow, must have been excruciating.
“How dare you try to harm Gabriella?” She struck him again. “Ga enu tu Dre tak.”
“Our issues don’t require your interference. Cancel the spell, or I’ll ensure you have no resting place,” he roared, despite his obvious pain.
His pupils turned red once more, and his fangs started to elongate, as if he was prepared to tear Margret apart. I felt a surge of fear.
“Let’s go. I’ll spare my anger,” Margret said. She wasn’t intimidated by Nicklaus in the slightest.
“Take Estella with you. I’ll join you later,” I added, and she departed using her magical portal spell.
Nicklaus suddenly seemed overwhelmed with emotion. His skin sprouted hair, and his body tensed, as if struggling against some magical force. But due to his severe injuries, he could only glare at us with crimson eyes.
I looked at the wounded Alpha Nicklaus on the ground, coughing up blood. I realized I should tend to his wounds before leaving.
I helped him up and propped him against a tall tree. “I warned you to leave. Perhaps this lesson will convince you.”
“I’m not leaving without you. I’m a powerful Alpha, and these injuries won’t make me give up on you. Gabby, I’ve missed you. I’ve been searching for you all these years.”
His bangs were partially damp, and his reddened eyes were fixed on me, tinged with… sadness?
“Why do you bother searching for someone you’ve rejected? Do you think I’ll be foolish twice? I’ll never accept you in my life. I’m content with my new life now. Never show your face again.” I stood up, ready to leave, when he said, “Remember our first dance together? I made a mistake just once. Why can’t you let go and come with me? What do I need to do?”
“I don’t want you anymore. Let me make it clear: I despise you with passion. The more I see you, the stronger my hatred grows. So give up.”
“You’re coming with me.” He moved swiftly, but Margret reappeared out of thin air.
“Don’t you dare,” Margret warned him.
“Margret, I said I’ll join you.”
“I know, but I’d rather keep the child safe. I don’t want her to witness me killing him. He must be the one who ruined your life. I’ll help you seek revenge by giving him a slow death.”
She positioned her fingers and began reciting her spell. I couldn’t let him suffer any more, even though he had wronged me. I didn’t want revenge.
I was content with my life now. I was powerful and adept at magic. I had a daughter who loved me. What more could I ask for? I decided to save Alpha Nicklaus this one last time, but after this, I would never help him again.
“Please, stop. Don’t harm him, Margret. Let him go.” I interrupted the spell.
