Flynn carried Scarlet to the master bedroom and roughly tossed her onto the bed.
Scarlet landed on the springy mattress and bounced up, her legs trembling beneath her black pleated skirt as she let out a startled cry.
“Ah! You jerk, can’t you be a bit more romantic?” Scarlet hastily covered her skirt, trying to maintain her modesty.
“Romantic?” Flynn grinned and raised an eyebrow. “Got it, you be wild, I’ll be slow.”
Scarlet was momentarily stunned, her face turning red as she threw a pillow at him. “Can’t you talk properly? You’re embarrassing me!”
“Aren’t you usually so composed? Why are you shy now?” Flynn smirked at Scarlet, his eyes full of mischief.
Scarlet’s face grew even redder, wishing she could find a hole to hide in. She had always been the one to take the initiative, playing the dominant role to tease Flynn. She was proud of herself, thinking she had the upper hand in their interactions.
But Flynn’s reserved demeanor turned out to be a facade; he was an expert in these matters. When things got serious, Scarlet found herself overwhelmed. Her efforts seemed futile as Flynn tirelessly continued for hours while she could only beg for mercy and scream in embarrassment.
“You’ve really let yourself go,” Scarlet said with a hint of frustration, feeling like she had walked into a trap.
Flynn’s lips curled into a devilish smile. “Isn’t honesty a good thing?”
“Good…” Scarlet began to agree but then noticed his exposed chest muscles and realized his “honesty” wasn’t sincere. She felt her anger rise again.
Flynn laughed heartily and sat on the edge of the bed, ready to join her under the covers.
“Wait!” Scarlet jumped off the bed like a startled kitten and ran barefoot to the living room. After gulping down a bottle of water, she returned to the bedroom with a flushed face.
“I’m going to sleep now! Goodnight!” Scarlet wrapped herself tightly in the blanket.
Flynn noticed the water still on her lips and understood immediately. Without saying a word, he turned off the light with a “click.”
The bedroom plunged into darkness.
Scarlet’s heart raced as she felt a pair of large hands reach for her waist.
“No… I want to sleep… It tickles…” Scarlet giggled as Flynn’s hands found their way to her waist.
“Let’s sleep together,” Flynn said as he pulled back the blanket and moved closer.
The clouds outside dispersed, letting moonlight spill into the room as the white sheets became disheveled…
The next morning, Flynn was awakened by a call from Rose.
“Who is it? So annoying…”
As Flynn answered the call, Rose’s voice came through just as Scarlet’s soft voice chimed in beside him, sounding seductive like an enchanting fox.
Rose frowned slightly and said, “Mr. Clark, while enjoying yourself is fine, please take care of your health.”
“Am I interrupting? Should I call back later?”
“No need…” Flynn cleared his throat softly and moved Scarlet’s arm from around his waist before sitting up.
“Kendal called; there’s a banquet at her place at noon. Maximo will be there.”
“Come with me.”
Rose didn’t know why she felt this way. She used to handle problems on her own. But ever since meeting Flynn, she had become reliant on him, wanting to consult him first whenever something came up. Even when attending gatherings hosted by rival factions, she wanted Flynn by her side.
Rose had this illusion that as long as Flynn was there, he could handle anything, even if the sky were falling. And time had proven this belief several times over, making her even more dependent on him.
“Alright, we’ll go together,” Flynn agreed without hesitation.
“Meet me at Kendal’s villa; I’ll wait for you at the gate.” Rose hung up and sent Flynn an address.
Flynn checked the address and started getting up.
“Don’t get up yet; stay with me a bit longer,” Scarlet pulled his arm closer to her side.
“Lightly plucking strings that never tire; from now on, no morning court for my lord,” Flynn recited as he looked at Scarlet’s serpentine body beside him.
“If we sleep any longer, you won’t make it to work today,” Flynn smiled and got out of bed. He wasn’t one to linger in comfort for too long. Balancing work and relaxation was his principle-being lenient with small matters but serious about big ones.
“I just wanted your arm as a pillow! What were you thinking? Beast!” Scarlet kicked him playfully before curling back under the blanket. She had thought Flynn would be exhausted too since her legs were still weak from last night. But surprisingly, he showed no signs of fatigue and even had energy left for other things-it was beyond comprehension.
…
After his morning run down the hill, Flynn brought back two breakfasts and woke Scarlet up.
“What did Ms. Sharp want?” Scarlet asked as she sipped half a bowl of porridge for breakfast.
Flynn explained between bites, “Kendal wants Maximo to stop targeting Energence Pharmaceuticals at noon today. Ms. Sharp and I will also be there.”
Scarlet nodded thoughtfully. “The Sharp Group is thriving now; the Acebegron Clear Relief incident severely hit Swanson’s Group.”
“If we can handle Eight Extremities School too, our chances will be even better.”
She couldn’t help but marvel at how much had changed in less than two months. Rose had gone from bankruptcy to being able to challenge three major alliances-an achievement that shocked everyone. It was undeniable that Flynn’s strength played a crucial role in this transformation.
“The more successful we are now, the more cautious we need to be. You should also stay safe,” Flynn said with concern flashing in his eyes.
Scarlet shuddered slightly at his words. “Is it really that serious? Would they actually resort to murder?”
“This business war involves too many forces and billions of dollars in investments,” Flynn replied seriously. “Braiden is desperate; we can’t rule out unexpected actions.”
At first, none of the three alliances took Rose seriously. But now that The Sharp Group had become a giant entity, they were certainly feeling threatened. If pushed too far, they might resort to extreme measures since ending this business war could be achieved by eliminating Rose-or even himself-and Scarlet might get caught in the crossfire due to her association with him.
“I can’t always be by your side; we need to find you a bodyguard…” As he spoke, an image of a girl appeared in his mind. He asked Scarlet: “What if I find you a female bodyguard who can live with you? Would you agree?”
“Harriet?” Scarlet raised an eyebrow.
Flynn nodded: “If you’re not comfortable with that idea, you could move in with me instead.”
“But I have many responsibilities and can’t guarantee I’ll always be around.”
“And Thodell Mansion is too conspicuous; once they know I’m staying there, who knows what extreme measures they’ll take.”
After hearing Flynn’s analysis, Scarlet thought for a moment before saying: “I don’t mind; I’m just worried Miss George might not agree.”
Flynn didn’t respond immediately; he wasn’t sure if Harriet would agree either but decided it was worth asking anyway.
The meeting with Eight Extremities School was scheduled for noon. Since Orco Real Estate needed some documents signed by Flynn first thing in the morning, he dressed in a suit and headed there with Scarlet accompanying him initially before going off to her own office while he returned upstairs into his presidential office on level two where upon entering saw someone cleaning diligently-a graceful figure bent over wiping down surfaces causing hips accentuated by posture swaying rhythmically revealing glimpses beneath waistband slipping slightly exposing pale skin along with tantalizing hints red lace underneath…
