Chapter 504: Quarrel Between Husband and Wife

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-7-14

“Jace is in his twenties, full of vigor. It’s normal for him to have a few girlfriends.”
“Didn’t you also flirt around when you were young? You can do it but others can’t?”
A graceful and elegant lady walked over.
Draped in jewels and radiating brilliance, her expression was a mix of displeasure and resentment.
This was Zion’s wife, Simone Watson.
“Is the matter with Elliana Hamilton never-ending? Is a dancer worth mentioning every day?” Zion’s face darkened with a hint of anger.
Simone snorted, her smile not reaching her eyes. “A dancer? You still remember she’s a dancer!”
“You, Zion, were once worth billions, mingling with high society, speaking gracefully, respected by all.”
“But behind the scenes, you were fooling around with a lowly dancer, getting her pregnant.”
Boom!
Zion’s fury erupted.
A wave of oppressive force filled the entire hall.
The black dragon tattoo on his hand became more pronounced.
The dark scales glimmered ominously, its eyes blood-red and terrifying.
Zion stared at Simone, his icy gaze seemingly able to pierce through skin, making one shiver.
Simone showed no fear, elegantly sitting on the sofa, crossing her legs, coldly meeting Zion’s gaze.
“Dad… Mom, I… need to sleep now. You should rest early too.”
Seeing them about to argue again, Jace quickly picked up his phone and ran upstairs to avoid Zion’s wrath.
“Good! My dear son, go to bed and don’t chat with those lowly people anymore.”
“Remember, your circle is the Pelens military and business world. Don’t let those wretches dirty you.”
“Otherwise, people might think everyone in the Hussain family is an animal, willing to sleep with any trash!”
Simone continued speaking even after her son had gone upstairs, her words cold and unrelenting.
“Are you done?” Zion’s face grew colder, his gaze like a venomous snake encircling Simone.
Simone was clearly using their son’s issue to mock him as an animal for sleeping with a dancer like Elliana and getting her pregnant with Harriet.
“What? Do you want to kill your wife?”
“Go ahead! The King of Pelens already has hundreds of lives on his hands; one more won’t matter. Do it.” Simone laughed contemptuously without any fear.
“Simone! Don’t think that just because you have the Jenkins family behind you, you can recklessly provoke my limits!” Zion’s voice was low and menacing like a tiger’s roar.
“Provoke?” Simone sneered sarcastically:
“Mr. Watson is undoubtedly the King of Pelens; even Mr. Richardson has to respect you.”
“The Jenkins family is just an influential clan in the Southern Territory with only one Martial Arts Great Grandmaster. How dare I compete with you?”
Zion ignored her sarcasm and coldly laughed:
“We are husband and wife; do we need to speak so sarcastically?”
“Yes! I used the Jenkins family’s influence to achieve my current success step by step.”
“But don’t think that gives you the right to speak recklessly in front of me!”
“So what if your father is at the peak of Great Grandmaster? Destroying the Jenkins family wouldn’t be difficult!”
“Destroy the Jenkins family?” Simone laughed disdainfully:
“I see. You acknowledged Harriet as your daughter to ally with the Wallace family.”
“You plan to join forces against the Jenkins family, right?”
“The Wallace family’s prodigy Stellan Wallace is indeed strong, hailed as a once-in-500-years genius in the Martial Arts world, becoming a Great Grandmaster at 32.”
“But relying on an initial-stage Great Grandmaster to suppress the Jenkins family with a peak Great Grandmaster is laughable!”
Zion heard Simone’s mockery but remained calm, saying indifferently:
“I want Harriet to marry Stellan for his talent.”
“A strong alliance will elevate the Hussain family further.”
“As for suppressing the Jenkins family, I could do that ten years ago.”
“I’ve tolerated you all these years to maintain good relations between our families.”
“And I don’t want to easily involve that organization!”
“That organization?” Simone’s sneer vanished, replaced by fear. She sat up straight and asked in disbelief: “The organization that lent you a hundred Grandmasters ten years ago?”
“They’ve resurfaced after ten years?”
Zion snorted coldly: “Curious why? Too bad you’re not worthy of knowing!”
Hearing this, Simone slumped on the sofa; her aggressive demeanor disappeared as she slowly lowered her head.
She had conceded.
To be precise, she conceded upon hearing about “that organization.”
She had witnessed the gathering of a hundred Grandmasters back then.
Their momentum was overwhelming; their killing intent was sky-high.
Hundreds of Grandmasters marched into Niarak like locusts sweeping through everything in their path.
The most terrifying part-according to Zion-was that Grandmasters were merely ordinary members of that organization.
There were over a hundred high-level martial artists above Grandmaster level within that organization.
Such terrifying power was unmatched by any force in the world.
If Zion could truly summon them again, the Jenkins family would be crushed!
Thinking this, Simone looked at Zion with growing fear.
Ever since Zion had an illegitimate daughter outside their marriage, cracks had appeared in their relationship.
For twenty years, they attended events together and treated each other respectfully in public.
Zion was elegant; Simone was dignified. Outsiders praised them as a model couple.
But those who knew them well understood they barely communicated privately over these years.
Simone never knew what Zion was busy with besides business until ten years ago when he commanded a hundred Grandmasters-it utterly shocked her.
But after that battle among Grandmasters, that organization vanished without a trace-like wind disappearing into thin air.
How did they resurface now?
As she pondered this in confusion, a female voice interrupted her thoughts:
“Mom! Why do you look so pale? Dad, did you upset Mom again?”
A girl walked in.
She was about twenty years old, wearing a high-waisted purple fishtail dress adorned with tiny water diamonds along its waistline; soft silk swayed behind her legs revealing sexy white calves beneath-a picture of aristocratic gracefulness-with an angry expression on her face.
“No quarrel-just tired-we were discussing something-you had fun today?” Simone smiled unnaturally while glancing at Zion whose gaze softened considerably towards her daughter Maisie Carlisle pulling him onto sofa pouting cutely:
“Dad-we saw some jewelry today-there’s this beautiful blue diamond-I want it.”
Simone smiled: “If you like it-buy it-how much?”
“A little over thirty million,” Maisie replied casually,
Zion nodded approvingly: “Alright-I’ll accompany you tomorrow.”
“Thanks Daddy!” Maisie beamed kissing Zion’s cheek causing him laugh heartily-the gloominess vanished replaced by affectionate warmth-the black dragon tattoo disappearing too-for Maisie meant more than Jace-a treasured jewel-even if she wanted stars from sky-he’d find way get them-a true apple-of-his-eye-
“You’re busy-I’ll take her tomorrow,” offered Simone,
Zion shook head dismissively: “No need-I’m buying Harriet necklace as gift too,”
Maisie’s face darkened instantly yelling angrily: “Harriet doesn’t deserve jewelry! No way! I won’t allow it!”
