Katie wore a low-cut dress, revealing a large expanse of skin. As she moved, the exposed parts of her chest trembled incessantly.
Flynn frowned, a look of disdain flashing in his eyes as he pushed Katie away.
“I can arrange for you to join Orion’s company, but you’ll have to start as a regular employee,” Flynn said coldly. “Once you prove yourself and reach a mid-level position, I’ll give you some money to start your own business.”
He didn’t like Katie; in fact, he despised her. She was materialistic and always looking for shortcuts, hoping to marry into wealth through her looks. If it weren’t for Flynn, she would have mortgaged Granny Wilcox’s house last time.
“Regular employee?” Katie’s smile froze, and she muttered unhappily, “You know Nathan. Isn’t it just a matter of words to make me an executive? Why pretend to owe us a favor if you won’t help with such a small thing?”
“Katie, shut up!” Mrs. Wilcox struck the floor with her cane angrily. “Executives have college degrees or real skills. You didn’t even finish middle school and hung out with delinquents. Do you think you can handle being an executive? I’ve always told you to be down-to-earth and not aim too high. Flynn is giving you an opportunity…”
“Enough! Stop nagging! You’re siding with an outsider over your own granddaughter!” Katie interrupted sharply, rolling her eyes at Flynn. “If you don’t want to help, fine! I don’t need your help to be a regular employee! It’s disgusting!”
With that, she turned and slammed the bedroom door behind her.
“This child…” Granny Wilcox was speechless with anger. She turned to Flynn apologetically, saying, “She’s been spoiled since she was young. I’m at my wit’s end with her. Please don’t mind her.”
Flynn smiled slightly but said nothing. Katie was used to being lazy and unwilling to work hard. Her values had been distorted by years of hanging out with delinquents. It wasn’t something that could change overnight.
After chatting with Old Mrs. Wilcox for a while, Flynn checked the time and stood up. “Grandma, it’s getting late. Do you want me to take you back to the new house? Or we can find a place to eat if you haven’t had dinner yet.”
Mrs. Wilcox quickly got up and refused, “No need. I’m old and can’t eat much at night. I’ll stay in the old house tonight. You go on with your business.”
As she saw Flynn out the door, Old Mrs. Wilcox sighed and turned back into the house.
She wanted to persuade Flynn not to seek revenge again, but his resolve was firm-avenging his mother was his belief.
“This child has the makings of a leader; maybe he really can avenge Adrianna!” Mrs. Wilcox thought as she looked at Katie’s bedroom door and shook her head.
“Katie, Grandma is going to sleep now. Are you coming out? I’m going to turn off the living room lights,” she called out.
Katie was lying on her bed texting her friends and didn’t respond.
“Jace, what are you doing?” she typed.
In Pelens, in a luxurious manor.
A young man in Armani pajamas smiled as he read Katie’s message: “Playing games in the living room. Miss me?”
“Yeah, it’s been a long time since we saw each other after meeting at the bar,” Katie replied. “When are you coming to Niarak? I want to drink with you.”
Jace Watson chuckled and replied: “Drinking is just an excuse; you really want to take a bath with me!”
They had met at a bar in Niarak when Jace was traveling there. He had hit on Katie because of her good figure and ended up spending the night together in a hotel room.
Katie had left quite an impression on Jace with her skills that night.
“Oh, you’re so bad! I’m blushing!” Katie typed back playfully.
Jace licked his lips and replied: “Come on, admit it-you want to take a bath with me?”
“Yes, I do,” Katie admitted.
Jace got excited when he saw her reply: “You’re such a tease, but I like it. I’ll be in Niarak in a few days; I’ll find you then!”
Katie was thrilled by this news and quickly asked: “How long will you stay this time?”
Jace had been drinking expensive liquor at the bar and stayed at a five-star hotel that night. Though Katie didn’t know his exact identity, she was sure he was from a wealthy family-a golden opportunity for her.
“A few days? That depends on your skills,” Jace replied with a laughing emoji.
“Oh come on! I’m seriously asking!” Katie rolled her eyes as she typed back.
“Just one day; I have a half-sister in Niarak that I need to visit,” Jace explained. “I’ll head back to Pelens after that; my butler doesn’t let me stay long in small places like Niarak.”
Katie felt disappointed hearing he’d only stay one day but quickly asked: “Half-sister? What’s her name? Can you introduce me? I need more girlfriends.”
Her idea was simple-if Jace was rich, his sister wouldn’t be any different. Befriending her could also be beneficial.
“I think her name is Harriet; but forget about being friends-she’s about to get married in Pelens,” Jace replied.
Katie felt even more disappointed but continued: “Can’t you stay longer? A butler can’t control someone like you!”
Jace sighed as he typed: “He’s not just any butler; he’s…” He deleted the text halfway through-no need to explain so much to just another fling.
He retyped: “Want me to stay longer? Send me some selfies.”
“Selfies? Didn’t I send them before?” Katie asked curiously.
Jace chuckled and sent her $100 before typing: “Those were free photos; I want paid ones now.”
Katie understood instantly and typed back coyly: “I’m not that kind of girl; those photos are for boyfriends only.”
“Damn it! I’ve seen everything already, and she’s still playing hard-to-get!” Jace cursed under his breath before replying: “Forget it then-I was thinking of introducing you to my parents too. Goodnight!”
He knew how to deal with gold-diggers like Katie; he’d done it countless times before.
Sure enough, within five minutes, she accepted the money and sent six photos-posing boldly on her bed without a stitch of clothing on her body.
Jace’s blood boiled as he stared at the screen intently.
Just as he zoomed in on one photo, he suddenly felt a gust of wind behind him.
“Smack!”
The sound echoed as Jace’s phone flew out of his hand, sending him crashing into the coffee table with blood streaming from his nose.
“All you do is mess around with women! Useless!” roared an imposing voice behind him-a man towering over him like an enraged dragon ready to unleash fury.
Jace trembled as he recognized the black dragon tattoo appearing on his father’s hand-a sign that Zion Watson was furious beyond measure.
