“I had the samples sent to other testing institutions for re-examination. That’s why I didn’t inform you when the Bloomer family’s results came out,” Josiah said, his tone growing heavier. “I never expected the Bloomer family to do something like this, not even recognizing their own flesh and blood.”
As he spoke, he glanced at Leo’s face, hoping to see some significant reaction. To his surprise, Leo’s expression remained calm, his eyebrows slightly furrowed as if deep in thought.
“Uncle Josiah, why are you showing me this?” Leo suddenly turned to him.
Josiah was taken aback by Leo’s question and replied urgently, “Why? Leo, this is the real test result! You are a descendant of the Bloomer family!”
“The real one? How can you be sure this is genuine? Even if it is, the Bloomer family considers it fake. Arguing about its authenticity with them seems rather ridiculous, doesn’t it?” Leo scoffed.
“Their fabricated result doesn’t represent the entire Bloomer family. After all, Old Mrs. Bloomer has always wanted to acknowledge you!” Josiah explained patiently, though his tone carried some impatience. He couldn’t understand why Leo wasn’t more anxious.
“Uncle Josiah, why do you seem more anxious than I am?” Leo turned his head, looking at Josiah with a half-smile.
Josiah trembled slightly under Leo’s piercing gaze, feeling as if his thoughts were being seen through. He quickly composed himself and said, “Leo, of course I’m anxious. I brought you to the capital to investigate your background. Naturally, I care about your situation.”
“Really? Are you worried for me or for yourself?” Leo asked with a smile.
Josiah’s face changed at these words, and he replied coldly, “Leo, what do you mean by that? How could I be worried for myself?”
“You’re eager to get me into the Bloomer family so you won’t have to worry about me anymore,” Leo said lightly, smiling.
He didn’t push the matter further; it was enough for Josiah to know he wasn’t a pawn to be manipulated. There was no need to burn bridges.
“Oh, haha…” Josiah’s expression softened. “Leo, what are you saying? You’re Marina’s good friend; of course, I have to look out for you.”
“Even if you join the Bloomer family and need my help, I won’t refuse. Take my advice and recognize the Bloomer family as soon as possible.”
“Thank you for your kindness, Uncle Josiah.” Leo smiled as he picked up the test results and tore them into pieces.
“Leo, what are you doing!?” Josiah’s face changed instantly.
“Uncle Josiah, to be honest, I’m not interested in joining the Bloomer family,” Leo said calmly. He then patted Harvey, who was driving. “Uncle Chapmanson, please pull over.”
After Harvey stopped the car, Leo opened the door and got out.
Josiah finally reacted and hurriedly said, “Leo, don’t act on impulse. Do you know what joining the Bloomer family means?”
Leo stepped out into the rain without a care and smiled. “I know. It means they would be reaching up to me. But I don’t want them to.”
With that, Leo slammed the car door shut and quickly walked away.
Josiah sat in the car stunned for a moment before asking Harvey, “Has that kid gone mad?”
To anyone else, Leo’s words were utterly absurd!
The Bloomer family, the top aristocratic family in the capital, reaching up to a young man like him? Ridiculous!
“He must have been provoked by someone from the Bloomer family,” Harvey speculated with a frown. “I heard Sheldon and Annabel delivered the test results to him today at noon.”
“Given their personalities, they must have seized the opportunity to humiliate him.”
Harvey only knew Sheldon had brought the results to Leo but didn’t know what had transpired.
“Indeed,” Josiah nodded solemnly. “Sheldon is a high-ranking official in the Ministry of Justice, while Leo is just a herbalist doctor running a clinic.”
“The gap between them is vast. Compared to the prestigious Bloomer family, Leo must already feel inferior. Being humiliated by them would naturally twist his emotions.”
“He couldn’t get their recognition and was mentally affected. It’s normal for him to say such self-delusional things. Our second master also…”
“Enough! You’re talking too much!” Josiah interrupted sharply, his face full of anger.
“My apologies,” Harvey quickly lowered his head.
“Let’s go back and discuss this later,” Josiah said in a deep voice.
Harvey started the car and drove off quickly.
Meanwhile, in Europe, half a world away.
In Franke, it was midnight. A huge full moon hung in the night sky.
The cold moonlight bathed an endless vineyard.
An ancient castle stood silently in the night.
Behind the castle grew large patches of wolfsbane.
Each plant bore small blue flowers swaying gently in the night breeze.
According to Western legend, on a full moon night when wolfsbane blooms, even a pure-hearted person who prays at night might turn into a werewolf.
However, legends are just legends. To become a werewolf, one needs werewolf blood.
Amidst these blue wolfsbane plants stood an ancient wolf clan altar known as Altar Heights.
The altar was surrounded by ancient patterns marked by time.
At this moment, dozens of figures stood around Altar Heights.
These figures were all tall and imposing Westerners.
At the forefront stood a man dressed in European aristocratic attire. He had a high nose bridge, handsome features, golden hair, and deep blue eyes radiating an innate noble aura.
His blue eyes gradually turned red under the rising full moon.
His gaze was fixed on a silver cup placed on the stone platform at the center of Altar Heights.
The cup had an opening as wide as a bowl and was adorned with ancient patterns.
