I couldn’t believe it. I still found it hard to believe that my own daughter could keep that much secret from me. I thought that we were close. I thought that we were as close as thieves. I thought that we didn’t share any secrets. I thought that… Oh no, o stopped thinking as I didn’t know what to think of anymore.
She had to be kidding me. I felt like a fool, living in a house full of secrets and I was the only one who knew nothing about it. Asides the revelation that had happened in Mia’s room after I found her kissing her brother, I had gotten more from her and I couldn’t believe it.
I still couldn’t get the image of her kissing Quinn out of my head. I wondered what I would have done if I had found them in bed. Oh no! I couldn’t bear to think of that. If she was dating the three of them, that meant that she was sleeping with the three of them.
Oh my! How did that even work? I couldn’t think of my daughter whoring herself out but with the way that they had explained it, they said being their mate was like her being the most precious thing to them, more than their lives. I shuddered in annoyance and disgust. What a weird family. That didn’t make me feel any better at all.
How was I to think of my daughter with three men? I didn’t care if they loved her to death. I had always dreamed of her wedding day but now, how could I keep on dreaming? How could I see her in a white dress getting married to three men? How could I stand that? How could I invite my friends to see that? That would be the most embarrassing moment of my life. How could I explain to everyone the shocking sight of my only daughter getting married to three of her step-brothers? Who would believe my story of mate and prophecy on that day when I was struggling to believe it myself? Damn it, Mia. I thought I knew everything about her. I sighed as I came to the conclusion that she was getting married in the human way as I had always dreamed for her. It was hurtful as I had spent years dreaming of her wedding, building on her fantasy but I had to let it go.
I should have suspected that something was going on when they suddenly became close when she hated them at first. I should have suspected then but I was a fool. I had only thought that my prayers that they would stop fighting and live in peace were answered. I still didn’t know why she hated them. I had asked her when I had called her in to start spilling all the dirty secrets but she wouldn’t tell me. She had only told me that I should forget about it, that it was the past and she didn’t want to talk about it.
I couldn’t believe Albert as well. He was supposed to be my husband, the person I trusted most in the world. How could I get over it that my husband didn’t trust me with his secrets? Did he think that I was going to kill him? Did he think that I was going to hate him? Did he think that I was going to leave him? It was fine that he was skeptical of telling me that he was a werewolf when we were dating but what after we were married? He should have trusted me then. He should have told me. I was angry that he didn’t trust me enough to do that. He wasn’t planning on telling me at all. He wasn’t planning on trusting me at all.
Trust. Yes, that was the issue. I was angry that he wouldn’t trust me.
I couldn’t get over that. I couldn’t believe that my daughter knew things about my husband and his family that I didn’t know of. That was a hard pill to swallow. She had gone on adventures with them to kill one dark wizard and save Albert and I was just finding out. They had kept me in the dark, pretending to be trying their best to protect me. What if something had happened to me and I knew nothing of how to save myself? They had all lied to me and stashed me somewhere like a useless and weak piece of doll which wasn’t meant to get in their own way while they fought the battles alone. How could my own daughter put herself in danger and didn’t trust me enough to protect her? Did she think that I was that much of a princess that I couldn’t be any use?
They had hurt me and I wasn’t ready to let go of that easily, nor was I willing to forgive them. I got a knock on the door and sighed, hoping that they weren’t the one as I didn’t want to see them at all.
“Who is that?” I asked, clearing my voice before speaking. I didn’t want anyone of them to know that I had been crying.
“It’s Elsa, ma’am. I have been looking all around for you and was told you are in the guest room.”
“Is there any problem, Elsa?”
“It’s time for breakfast. Are you coming outside or should I bring it?’
Breakfast? I looked outside and realized that it was dawn already. I sighed. I didn’t sleep a wink at all through the night. I was sure that I looked horrible and was about to tell Elsa to bring the food over when I changed my mind. I didn’t do anything bad and shouldn’t be the only one to suffer. I wanted them to see me and be rebuked by their conscience.
“I will be out soon.” I told her.
“Yes, ma’am.” She said and walked away.
I moved off the bed and went into the bathroom to fix myself up. With a little dose of make-up, no one would know that I had been crying all night.
