Mia
No matter how much you anticipated or feared a day, it was going to come. I didn’t even have the time to anticipate this time as it had come suddenly. I hadn’t been expecting it. How could their major tell them to come back and give them only two days to do so? Who did that? He hadn’t even given them time to prepare at all and had just wanted them to be back. Didn’t he think that they were going to have to prepare? What if they were in the midst of something important when they had gotten his mail? Were they supposed to have dropped it all and reported to work?
I believed that they were. They wouldn’t have been military men if that wasn’t the case. They weren’t meant to complain when they got an order but followed without a complaining.
I snorted at my thought. I knew that they were military men before I got involved with them.
I was going to miss them. I stood by, watching them with my arms folded on my chest as I watched as they packed their luggage into the car.
They turned when they were done to wave us all goodbye and sighed when they saw the scowl on my face.
“Come on! Don’t be like that.” Jack said as he saw me. “We will be back soon before you know it.”
I snorted. “That doesn’t mean that I’m not going to miss you.”
“We will call you everyday.” John promised.
I nodded. “You better do that.”
Quinn pulled me into a hug. “Take care of yourself till we are back and don’t stress yourself with a lot of the duties. Delegate those that you have to and ignore those you don’t have to do.”
I smiled as I wrapped my hands around him. “I hear you.” I smiled at him with a naughty grin on my face as I broke away from the hug and stared at him. “Can you see that you aren’t much for words? You show more than you talk. Later, you will want to drag the title with Jack.”
Jack chuckled as he overheard what I had said. “Don’t mind him, Mia. He doesn’t know what he is built for.”
Quinn chuckled, leaned his head forward, his breath tickling my neck and whispered in my neck. “I will miss you and I promise to call you everyday.” He said, his deep voice echoing in my head as he repeated what his brothers had said.
I smiled at his words and felt an insane urge to kiss him but I couldn’t do that. I wanted to kiss all of them and give them a parting memory to remember me by but I dared not do that because of my mum who was present. She would scream our ears out at the sight of me kissing my brothers and poke her eyes out thinking that she was hallucinating and making things up.
I couldn’t do that. I moved away from Quinn when I was done with him and stepped into the embrace of the others one after the other.
“Stay safe.” John said when I embraced him.
“Miss me all you can.” Jack said when I stepped into his wide arms. I laughed and hit him on the shoulder.
“Ouch.” He groaned and then chuckled. “You are mean.”
“I dare you to miss me as much as you can as well.” I said to him.
He smirked. “You know that I was going to do that anyways even if you didn’t ask. I miss you even when you are near and with me. How would I not miss you, my dear, when you are far from me?”
Quinn snorted and rolled his eyes. “You already got your trophy as the king of words. Do you still have to lay it on too thick?”
Jack chuckled and winked at me. “It seemed like someone was jealous of my skills. I already told you to come and learn but you wouldn’t listen.”
Quinn snorted. “I’m going to find a way to bring you down from your high horse.”
John snorted. “Can we leave already? We have a long trip to cover and I’m sure you all don’t want to waste time teasing Mia.”
I smiled at him. “Don’t mind them. Let them keep teasing me. You can leave them and go on your trip so you wouldn’t have to be late.”
He sighed, giving a dramatic one. “I wished I could but you know that I can’t leave without them.”
I nodded. Of course, I remembered the strange triplet bond among them that couldn’t let them be far from one another. How could I ever forget the bond when it was the reason I was mated to the three of them instead of one man?
“Let’s go, Jack.” Quinn added, turning to Jack.
“As if I would let you boys go without getting a hug out of you.” Mum said and moved forward.
I smiled as I watched them envelope one another in a big group hug. She had been silently watching and smiling as I exchanged parting with the boys that I had thought that she wouldn’t make a move at all. I should have known that mum wouldn’t let go of someone who was going far from her without a hug.
The boys released her, bowed to their father who nodded at them and told them to drive safely and extend his regards to to the major who was his friends. The boys moved to the car and drove off while the three of us waved at them till they were out of sight.
