Mia
My official calendar as the Luna of the pack had already started. It started in full bloom. What was I going to do except accept them all?
Just the way Quinn was meant to go and fight some miscreants as soon as he became the alpha, I was also given something by the elders to do according to the traditions. Thankfully, mine wasn’t as dramatic as that of Quinn.
I couldn’t for the life of me imagine that I was going to have to fight for some barbarians taking some people captive, even if I was told that they were female wolves and weren’t as aggressive as the male wolves. I just couldn’t do it. I didn’t want to fight, even though I knew that I was only going to lead the army and wasn’t going to fight alone.
I didn’t want to fight. I wanted a scenario that we could achieve whatever it was that we wanted without having to fight. That was one of my dreams and plans for the pack as Luna and I knew that Quinn wanted that too.
It wasn’t compulsory that I fight with Quinn as the Luna. It wasn’t even advisable that the mate of the alpha fight with him in the pack as it was believed that she would be nothing more but a distraction to her mate. He would spend his entire time focusing on her rather than on the fight and I believed that was true. It was something that Quinn could do if I was in a war with him and I was glad that I wasn’t to be involved in any war with him. I would be nothing more than a distraction to him indeed.
Moreover, I didn’t want to be in a war. If Quinn as the alpha was alright going the aggressive way and solving our battles in a confrontation manner, I wanted to solve our battles in a milder way as the Luna of the pack.
I looked at the list of events that the elders had sent a maid to send to me before they left the house and nodded at the first thing that I was to do.
I was to make a visit to the elders of the pack as the custom demanded for that. I saw the venue and time and realized that they already sorted this out within themselves and I only had to show up.
Nice. I hoped that I wouldn’t be staying too long though there as my computer just beeped with a message and I knew it had to be from the estate. I wondered how I was going to combine the duties of a baroness with that of the Luna of a pack. I was going to be crazily stressed but I was going to be okay. It was going to be fun and I couldn’t wait to have a lot of it.
I had assumed that there were a maximum of only ten elders in the pack because I had only known Binoo, Albus, Fredo and Kehlan and had thought the meeting wouldn’t take any time. I was wrong. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I was stunned when I entered the house where I was told that the meeting was going to take place and saw about fifty elders waiting for me, male and female.
They bowed to me as I entered, offering me a seat. What was going on? I cleared my throat, sat on the chair and turned to them. I waited for them to start. There was a lot to be discussed with me apparently as they began talking the moment I had my seat.
I should have been told that this was a training for me instead of them saying that it was an official introduction meeting or I would have come with a jotter and a pen. Even the introduction seemed like a class to me as well. There were a lot of names that I struggled to remember them all.
I already knew Albus, Binoo, Fredo and Kehlan and so they didn’t bother to introduce themselves to me. It was the remaining forty six elders who did their introduction and those were the ones I struggled to remember their names as they all said their names in a rush one after the other, popping out the names in quick succession.
Abalia, Amelia, Evelyn, Fred, Felar, Groit, Seratin, Fitbit, Duncan, Selana, Festolaer.
I sighed. I could barely remember the rest. They had weird names and I wondered if that was because they were werewolves.
The eldest female of the elders got up and started talking, giving me a full lecture of what was expected of me as the Luna. I was glad that I could remember her name as she was the one who had spoken first during the introduction. Her name had stuck before the others started dropping theirs and confused me with the many names.
I insisted that I should have been warned to bring in a notepad and some pens. It was a long lecture that Evelyn gave me and I could see in the eyes of the others that they couldn’t wait to lecture me as well.
How was I meant to remember everything all? I wondered as I stared at them, pretending to be listening and understanding all what they were saying even though my mind was somewhere else. I was thinking of asking Albert after the meeting if he had a book summarizing all the notes that the elders had just given me. After all, his study was always filled with a lot of artifacts and books where one could learn. It was from there that I learnt of the answers that I had told the elders during my screening.
Speaking of elders, I wondered why Albert wasn’t here. Now that he was no longer the alpha, shouldn’t he have moved on to the sides of the elders or wasn’t that how it worked?
I had assumed that was how it worked.
