Mia
I stretched as I woke up, feeling good. It was the next day after my test and I was feeling on top of the moon. Asides that I had won the fight and brought back an animal in due time, I had spent the whole night afterwards with the boys, making up for lost time.
I was sandwiched among them but I didn’t mind. I didn’t mind being squeezed by them because I knew that they weren’t going to squeeze me to death. It felt deliciously good being among them.
Quinn smiled at me as soon as he realized that I was awake. “You are awake, sleeping beauty.”
I chuckled. “Oh yes, I am.”
Jack snorted as he roused from his sleep and turned to face Quinn. “With all due respect to you as the alpha, brother, but I think you are being rude. How could you call the Luna of the pack a sleeping beauty?”
“Oh!” Quinn gasped in mock understanding. “Forgive my oversight. I was struck by her beauty that I lost my senses for a while.” He bowed to me. “I’m sorry for my rudeness, your highness.”
I snorted. “Will you all stop teasing me? I’m not the Luna yet.”
John snorted. “You won the duel and passed the test. There is nothing else to dispute that you are the Luna.”
“I’ve not had the ritual ceremony. I’ve not had my initiation ceremony into the pack as a wolf either.” I argued.
Jack snorted. “The ritual ceremony is only a formality. You are as much the Luna of the pack without it. There is no need for the initiation ceremony as well. They all saw you shift. Moreover, once you have the ritual ceremony and become the Luna of the pack, you are automatically initiated into the pack.”
I nodded. That was nice.
Quinn looked outside and noticed that it was getting close to dawn. “Let’s get out of here before the staff start moving around and someone notices that we slept in here for the night.”
I winced. That was a scandal that we didn’t want. Not at this moment. It wouldn’t be a big deal to the wolves as they knew already that I was Quinn’s mate and a mate for one was a mate for all but my mum or any of the staff didn’t know and I didn’t want them to find out with the boys walking out of my room and having it look like I was having a scandalous affair.
I didn’t want that. “Good observation. Yes, you have to go.” I urged them.
Jack groaned as he got down from my bed. “I can’t wait for everyone to know of this relationship that we have. I’m tired of running and leaving as if I was committing a crime.”
Quinn chuckled. “According to Fredo, you are committing a crime.”
Jack groaned. “Can we not talk of that idiot, please?”
We all laughed. Asides it being funny the way Jack had groaned, Fredo was truly a bone in the side of all of us. That man was a nuisance and I didn’t want to talk about him either.
“Okay. We will see later during the day.” Quinn said as they all got down and dressed up.
I watched as they trooped out of my bedroom and slept back in bed the moment they were gone. I was woken up two hours later by a knock on my door.
“Who is that?” I groaned, my voice laden with sleep.
“Breakfast is ready, Miss. The family is waiting for you.”
I stretched as I got out of bed. “I will be right outside.”
“Okay, Miss.” I heard the maid say and then she walked away.
At the thought of food, my stomach cramped and grumbled and I realized that I was hungry, more than I ever thought. I wasn’t surprised. I had had a long day the previous day and it was expected that I would have used up all my strength.
I had a rushed bath, dressed up quickly and moved to the dining room.
“Good morning.” I smiled as I joined them at the table.
“You seem to be in a very good mood this morning, daughter.” Mum asked.
I nodded at her. “Yes, mum.”
“You must have had a good night.”
I nodded again. “I did.” If only she knew how good my night was. “I had a good day yesterday too.” I was still basking in the euphoria of the win I had yesterday, conquering the supposed strongest female in the pack. That wasn’t an easy thing to do and I was sure that not many would have done that. I was proud of myself that I broke a record.
I wished I could share my victory with mum but I couldn’t. I would hold on to it, keeping it as one of the many discussions that I was going to have with mum when she finally find out about the secret of the wolves.
When that would be, I didn’t know but I knew that it wasn’t going to be long from now. I wasn’t comfortable with having my mum being kept in the dark about the world that she was living in.
“That’s good to hear.” Mum smiled at me, genuinely happy for me even though she didn’t know what had happened.
I felt guilty that I was keeping a secret from her and could relate with how Jack felt this morning when he was annoyed that he was going to have to leave my room.
“Shall we eat?” Albert asked.
We were barely five minutes into the meal when a maid walked up to us at the table and dropped a wrapped parcel at my side.
I looked up at her in surprise. “What is this?”
“A gift from someone. He is one of your kind.” She said, looking at Quinn.
Quinn nodded in understanding and waved at the maid that she could leave. She bowed to us and left. He turned to me and smiled. “I think it’s a gift from one of my men. They had heard the news and are showing you their support by sending gifts.”
I nodded at his words, knowing that he had refrained from saying wolves and had said men instead because of mum who was present.
I was touched by the acceptance and support of the wolves.
“What happened?” Mum asked. “What is the gift for? Are you celebrating something?”
“I won a competition yesterday, mum.” I said as simply as I could. That was what I could say to her that wouldn’t sound like a lie.
“That is good to hear. ” She smiled at me and I was glad that she didn’t press me any further.
Two more maids walked in with gifts and we all looked at them in surprise.
“For Mia too?” Albert asked with a chuckle in his voice.
The maids nodded and smiled in amusement as they replied. “Yes, sir.”
“Should we drop it with that?” The maid at the front asked, looking at the gift that was already placed beside me.
“You know what?” I said as I looked at the gift beside me and the new ones. “Take all the gifts to my bedroom. If any more gifts should come, make sure that they go to my bedroom as well. You don’t have to bring them here.”
“Yes, Miss.” They nodded, picked the one on the floor and walked out of the room. I smiled as I watched them leave the room, feeling proud that I had become popular with the pack.
