Manni’s manager pulled her away just as things were getting heated and whispered softly, “Manni, this isn’t the time to be talking back. It’s clear from how much you’ve suffered this time that there’s something odd about this. If you continue to get on her bad side and you end up being barred from the industry, then all your efforts will go down the drain. Is this how you’d like to destroy your career?”
Her manager’s words had a deterrent effect on her.
After all, regardless of what she did to get where she was today, it was an undeniable fact that she had put in a lot of effort and made a lot of sacrifices.
No one would treat their future lightly, and Manni was no different.
If she had lost her endorsement deals, she could always work to get new ones, but if she were to be barred from the industry altogether, then that would be the end of her career.
She quickly calmed herself down after she weighed the consequences. She scoffed and decided to stop arguing with Rosiley.
Everyone who had gathered to watch the spectacle dispersed after she left.
Yayoi looked at her friend in concern and asked, “Are you all right?”
“I’m fine,” she said as she shook her head.
“That’s good,” Yayoi said as she breathed a sigh of relief. She couldn’t help exclaiming in anger, “I didn’t expect that madwoman to pounce on you like that.”
“I didn’t see it coming either, but I guess it’s understandable because she must have gotten quite a fright,” Rosiley said as she pursed her lips and straightened her clothes.
Her words made Yayoi smile and she said, “That’s true. However, you should still be wary of her because she seemed completely fearless earlier. She’s definitely not as easy to handle as Rorey, who has no intelligence to speak of.”
“I’m not afraid,” Rosiley said.
Didn’t she have to deal with a fair amount of rivals at the moment?
She wouldn’t have found herself in such a miserable state if she hadn’t fallen into their traps previously.
And she was definitely no airhead!
She felt a little exasperated at the thought of having to be wary of so many people all of a sudden.
She felt as though she needed to clone herself in order to handle those people every day!
A thought suddenly occurred to her and she asked, “Didn’t you say that Xiaoxiao was coming back? It’s been two weeks, so where exactly is she?”
“Who knows? She might still be on her way back or she might have run off to another country,” Yayoi said as she rolled her eyes. She couldn’t deal with that troublemaker either.
Rosiley’s phone rang at this moment and interrupted their conversation.
She dug out her phone and couldn’t hold back a smile when she saw the name on her screen. “Speak of the devil.”
“Quick, ask her where she is,” Yayoi said eagerly.
Rosiley nodded and accepted the call. Before she could get a word in, an ethereal-sounding voice said, “Rosiley, where are you? Come to the police station to get me. I’ve been arrested…” Then, the line went dead as her voice trailed off.
Rosiley froze for a brief moment before she put down her phone speechlessly.
“What happened?” Yayoi clocked her friend’s odd expression and asked in confusion, “Where did Xiaoxiao say she was?”
“The police station,” Rosiley said softly.
Yayoi stared at her in horror and exclaimed, “Didn’t she just return? Why would she be arrested?”
“That’s what I’d like to find out as well, but I didn’t get the chance to do so,” Rosiley said as she shook her head. Then she let out a resigned sigh before continuing, “Let’s head over to check out the situation. Otherwise, she might end up tearing the police station apart with her bare hands.”
