He looked out the window at the sky and said in a low voice, “After all these years, even the most beloved grandson would have been let go.”
“A grandson presumed dead for over twenty years, compared to the vast Bloomer family, which is more important?”
“Sir, I don’t understand what you’re saying…” Harvey was genuinely confused. What did Leo being a member of the Bloomer family have to do with anything?
“Have you ever played with building blocks?” Josiah asked.
“No,” Harvey answered honestly.
He came from a poor family and had never played with building blocks as a child.
“Well, you’ve seen them, right?” Josiah snapped, annoyed at Harvey’s ignorance.
“The Bloomer family is like a skyscraper built from blocks. It looks grand and imposing on the outside, but it’s not stable inside.”
“Removing or adding just one block could trigger a chain reaction, leading to its collapse.”
“I get it!” Harvey suddenly understood. “You want to add this block, but the old master of the Bloomer family might have seen through your plan and won’t let you.”
“I don’t know if the old master of the Bloomer family is involved in this or not…” Josiah sighed. “If he really has seen through my plan, things will be difficult.”
“But there’s still Old Mrs. Bloomer, right? She seems very eager to reunite with Leo. We could start from there,” Harvey suggested.
“We have no choice but to start with the old lady.” Josiah nodded, then suddenly remembered something and turned to ask, “When will the results from the testing agency we contacted come out?”
Harvey quickly checked the time and replied, “Around eight o’clock tonight.”
“Good thing I was cautious; otherwise, we would have been fooled by the Bloomer family.” Josiah sneered, a smug smile appearing on his face.
He had long suspected that the Bloomer family might play tricks, so he had instructed Harvey to take some samples from yesterday’s medical institution and send them to another testing agency as a precaution.
Even if their results came out, getting the Bloomer family’s recognition would still take some effort.
“I’ll go keep an eye on it now. As soon as the results are out, I’ll inform you immediately,” Harvey said.
“Go ahead, and make sure there’s no mistake.” Josiah nodded.
Harvey immediately turned and walked out.
“Wait!” Josiah suddenly called out to Harvey, glancing at the test results on the table with a cold expression. “Have you considered that there might be another possibility…”
Harvey quickly caught on to Josiah’s implication. “You mean, this test result could be genuine?”
Josiah’s face darkened like the gloomy weather outside. His facial muscles twitched as he grabbed the test results from the table and slowly tore them apart.
“I don’t care if this result is real or not. Our result must show they are related by blood!”
Harvey was slightly stunned but then stood up straight and said firmly, “Understood!”
After speaking, he quickly walked out.
Josiah threw the torn test results into the trash can and looked out at the dark sky with a cold smile on his lips.
At Leo & Rose Cosmetics’ capital branch.
After cleaning up the reception area, Xavier dragged Leo downstairs to a hotel for dinner.
The hotel was five-star, elegantly decorated with a refined atmosphere, but Xavier made it feel like a street food stall.
Xavier skillfully bit off the beer bottle cap and poured beer into Leo’s glass before filling his own.
“Brother Leon, tell me, where did you learn your skills?”
“To be honest, a few years ago, I went mountain climbing and accidentally fell into a cave where I found a martial arts manual…”
Leo borrowed a plot from a martial arts novel, and Xavier believed it without question, listening intently.
Just as the story reached an exciting point, Xavier’s phone rang.
He took a look and hung up directly.
“Brother Leon, continue.”
As soon as he spoke, the phone rang again.
“You should answer it first.”
Xavier answered the call reluctantly. “Hello, big brother, what do you want?”
“Third brother, where are you?” Sheldon asked on the other end. “I need to talk to you.”
“I’m having dinner with Brother Leon! I’m busy!” Xavier frowned and refused.
He didn’t get along with his big brother at all. Xavier was active and outgoing while his big brother was quiet and reserved; they never got along since childhood.
Moreover, his big brother was too cunning for his liking. Xavier often felt taken advantage of by him and thus held a grudge against him.
“Brother Leon?” Sheldon was taken aback and quickly asked, “Which Brother Leon?”
“Who else? Of course, it’s our Leon!” Xavier rolled his eyes and cursed under his breath.
“Leon Bloomer… Leon? You’re with Leon?!” Sheldon realized who it was and his tone changed. “Alright, wait there. I’m coming to find you both!”
“What do you want? We’re having drinks; we don’t want to be disturbed.” Xavier replied irritably.
He had seen how Sheldon and Annabel treated Leo at the birthday banquet.
“This is an order from our father! Tell me where you are!” Sheldon demanded coldly.
Hearing this, Xavier reluctantly gave him the address.
After hanging up, Xavier slammed his phone on the table in frustration. “My big brother is useless; he only knows how to use our father to scare me.”
“If I could beat my uncle, I wouldn’t take this crap!”
Leo found his words amusing and laughed. “Come on, let’s drink to you beating your uncle soon.”
“Cheers to that!” Xavier clinked glasses with a grin and downed his beer in one gulp.
Leo and Xavier had only had a few drinks when Sheldon arrived with their elder sister Annabel in tow.
Seeing them both surprised Leo slightly. He knew they were here for trouble, likely because of the paternity test results.
“Xavier, why are you having dinner with him?” Sheldon shouted angrily before even reaching Xavier.
“He is my Brother Leon; it’s only right for me to treat him!” Xavier nonchalantly replied while pouring more beer for Leo.
“Your Brother Leon!?” Sheldon sneered and looked at Leo disdainfully. “Leo, the paternity test results are out. Do you want to know?”
Leo stared at Sheldon without speaking.
Sheldon pulled out the test results from his pocket and threw them on the ground with a smug smile. “See for yourself.”
Leo glanced coldly at Sheldon before looking at the test results on the ground without moving.
