Chapter 129: Are You Crying?

“Dave, let go of me, or I’ll get really upset!” Tears welled up in Bianca’s eyes.
“If I let you go, will you still be upset?” Dave asked softly.
Normally confident, he now felt lost, unsure how to mend things and make her stop resenting him.
Bianca stood there, visibly upset, biting her lip. She was clearly angry that he hadn’t trusted her and had secretly followed her.
Seeing Bianca’s frown and her silent, emotional stance, Dave realized she was upset regardless of whether he let go of her or not.
In an effort to calm her anger, Dave bowed his head and gently, yet firmly, kissed her lips, trying to convey his regret through the kiss.
Bianca’s eyes widened in shock. Instead of explaining or apologizing for his actions, he kissed her forcefully. How could he do that?
Did he really believe a kiss and a few nice words could make everything okay?
What did he take her for?
She could sympathize with his misunderstanding or jealousy.
But his lack of trust and intrusive behavior had crossed a line for her. She wasn’t ready to forgive him unless he had a good reason and apologized sincerely!
Bianca tried to push him away, but Dave’s knees held her legs firmly against the cabinet, leaving her unable to move.
Trapped, Bianca felt his kiss. She struggled, but resisting Dave seemed hopeless. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
When Dave finally opened his eyes and saw her tears, he released her and stepped back in shock.
He stood there in a daze, watching Bianca cry with her head bowed, her face pale with fear. She looked completely shattered.
“Bianca, I…” Dave started, wanting to comfort her, but her fear and wariness kept him rooted in place as if his feet were glued to the floor.
Bianca looked up, tears brimming in her eyes. Without saying a word, she grabbed her handbag and hurried out the door without looking back.
After Bianca left, Dave stood there, lost in a daze for a long while.
When he finally came to his senses, Bianca was gone.
He had hurt her deeply, and now he feared she hated him and would never come back.
Dave felt a strong urge to go after Bianca, but the image of fear in her eyes haunted him. Her leaving was a clear sign of her fear of him, a desire to get away. Though he longed to keep her, he quietly admitted that letting her go might be the kindest choice.
Frustration surged through him, and he struck the wine cabinet hard. The shattered glass cut into his hand, leaving bloodstains behind.
Meanwhile, running aimlessly through the streets after leaving the apartment, Bianca couldn’t stop crying. Tears streamed down her face, and wiping them away did little to stop their flow.
She found a step by the roadside and sat down, letting the night wind soothe her. Her overwhelming emotions slowly began to calm.
She had fled without a plan. What about Mr. Evans?
But why was she still thinking about him at a time like this? It was all his fault!
In the midst of her turmoil, a call from her best friend, Diana, interrupted Bianca’s thoughts.
“Hello, Bianca. How have you been lately? I haven’t heard from you since Vincent’s last tweet. There’s a buzz that Natalie has brought in a professor from the Skiyton Film Academy to boost her acting skills, causing quite a stir online. She seems really proud. Luckily, I managed to steer Brandon’s fans to control the trend, or public opinion might have turned against you by now!”
“Thank you, Diana,” Bianca replied, sniffling, still engulfed in sadness.
Sensing Bianca’s distress, Diana gently probed, “Are you crying? Who hurt you? Is it because Sophia might not overshadow Natalie? If Sophia doesn’t get the role, you can leave Phoenix Entertainment. I’ll help you find something better. It’s not a big deal! We’ve been friends for so long, and I’ve never seen you cry like this.”
Moved by Diana’s genuine concern, Bianca’s bottled-up emotions burst forth, and she began crying again.
Determined to help, Diana said, “Hey! Why are you crying even more? Where are you? I’m coming to you.”
“I… I don’t know,” Bianca replied, looking around. She had run without a clear destination and now felt disoriented about where she was.
On the other end of the line, Diana sighed. “You’re like a lost child. Send me your location, stay there, and I’ll come to you.”
The call ended, leaving Bianca with a comforting feeling.
Stopping her tears, Bianca regained her composure and sent her location to Diana.
Soon enough, Diana pulled up in her sleek Porsche. Rolling down the window, she called out, “Bianca, get in!”
Bianca stood up, opened the car door, and slid inside.
Seeing Diana, a faint smile spread across Bianca’s face. “It’s pretty late. Aren’t your parents worried about you being out?”
“When have my parents ever cared where I am? They’ve always let me do my own thing,” Diana replied casually.
Glancing at Bianca, Diana noticed her red nose and puffy, teary eyes.
Bianca was known for her strong resilience and rarely showed vulnerability. This time, though, it was clear she had been deeply hurt emotionally.
Diana stepped on the gas, and the car sped off.
“Diana, can you please slow down a bit?” Bianca gripped the handle above her head, feeling breathless from the sudden acceleration.
“It’s the best time for a drive when you’re feeling low!” Diana kept her speed, refusing to ease up. With the pedal to the floor, she skillfully maneuvered through traffic, moving with a swift grace. The city’s neon lights seemed to flow backward in Bianca’s view while Diana’s contagious laughter echoed in her ears.
Initially gripped by fear, Bianca soon got used to the exciting speed and enjoyed it. It felt like riding a roller coaster, making her forget her worries.
She threw her arms wide and shouted with joy. Her mood lifted, and she felt a rush of happiness.
Suddenly, Diana spoke in a serious tone, “Bianca, there’s a car following us.”
Bianca looked in the mirror and saw a black car following them.
“Diana, we’ve got to lose that car!”
“Okay!”
Diana slowed down at a red light, and the black car caught up, pulling alongside them.
Diana rolled down her window to get a better view. Because the windows were dark, she couldn’t see who was inside, but she felt like someone was watching them.
When the light turned green, Diana boldly flipped off the black sedan.
She pressed hard on the gas, turned sharply, and smoothly merged into the right-turn lane traffic.
