Chapter 142
Hallucinating?
Megan’s POV:
I got out of bed feeling like my whole body, was compressed under a kneading press, that I did not notice when I fell to the floor, then I watched the wardens reach out to me.
As I am dragged out of my cell, I try to clear my foggy mind and process what’s happening.
The guard’s grip on my arm is tight, and I stumble along beside her, my legs feeling like rubber.
We navigate through the dimly lit corridors, the fluorescent lights overhead making my head throb even more.
Finally, we arrive at the infirmary, a small, cramped room with a single bed and a metal cabinet in the corner. The guard releases my arm, and I collapse onto the bed, exhausted.
A stern-looking nurse approaches me, her eyes scrutinizing my face. “What’s going on with you, Megan?” she asks gruffly.
I try to explain my symptoms, but my words come out jumbled and incoherent.
The nurse nods sympathetically and begins to take my vital signs. “You’re running a fever, and your blood pressure is through the roof,” she mutters.
“We’ll need to get you hydrated and figure out what’s causing this.”
As she works, I can’t shake the feeling that something sinister is at play. Did someone poison me? Or is this some kind of cruel punishment?
The nurse injects me with a sedative, and I feel my eyelids growing heavy. As I drift off, I’m consumed by dark thoughts and a sense of foreboding. What’s happening to me?
As I drift in and out of consciousness, I vaguely hear the nurse talking to someone, her voice urgent and concerned.
“We need to get her to a bigger hospital, stat. She needs serious attention, and we don’t have the resources to handle this here.” She says.
The next thing I know, I am being loaded into an ambulance, sirens blaring as we speed through the streets. I try to sit up, but a gentle hand pushes me back down.
“Just relax, Megan. You are going to be okay.” She urges.
The ambulance doors open, and I’m wheeled into a bustling emergency room.
Doctors and nurses swarm around me, hooking me up to monitors and injecting me with medication. I try to ask what’s happening, but my voice is barely a whisper.
A kind-faced doctor leans over me, his eyes filled with concern.
“Megan, you’re suffering from severe dehydration and a severe infection. We’re going to get you sorted out, but you need to stay calm and let us work.” He says.
As he speaks, I feel a wave of relief wash over me. I’m finally in good hands. But as I glance around the hospital room, I can’t shake the feeling that I’m not out of danger yet. There’s something sinister lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike.
As the medical team scrambles to prepare me for transfer to a larger hospital, I feel my eyes growing heavy once again. I try to fight it, but my eyelids droop, and I succumb to the darkness.
The next thing I know, I’m being jostled and bounced along, my body strapped to a stretcher. I try to open my eyes, but they feel like lead weights. I am vaguely aware of voices around me, murmurs and beeps, but everything is fuzzy.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shoots through my arm, and I try to cry out. But my voice is barely a whisper.
“W-what… where…” Everywhere starts to turn black.
“Megan, we’re almost there. Just hang in there.” A gentle voice responds.
But I’m not sure where “there” is. Or who “we” are. Panic sets in as I realize I am at the mercy of strangers, unconscious and vulnerable.
And then, everything goes black once more.
As I slowly regain consciousness, my gaze falls upon a group of people gathered around me, their faces twisted into unpleasant grins. My mind foggy, I try to sit up, but a sharp pain shoots through my head, making me wince.
Panic sets in as I take in my surroundings. I am in a dimly lit room, surrounded by people who look like they belong in a horror movie.
Their eyes gleam with an otherworldly intensity, and their skin seems to sag from their bones like decaying flesh.
I try to scream, but my voice is hoarse and barely audible.
“W-what… where… who are you?” I stammer, my heart racing with fear.
The creatures around me chuckle, their laughter like dry leaves rustling in the wind. One of them leans in close, its breath reeking of decay.
“You’re in our care now, Megan,” it hisses. “And you’ll never leave.” I heard them say.
My mind races as I try to process what’s happening. I thrash about, trying to break free from the restraints holding me down. But they’re too strong, and I’m too weak.
As I struggle, the creatures close in, their grins growing wider. I know I’m in grave danger, and I must find a way to escape or risk becoming their next victim.
I scream at the top of my lungs, my voice hoarse and raw.
“Help! Somebody gets me out of here!” I yelled.
The creatures around me lean in closer, their eyes gleaming with an unsettling intensity. One of them holds up a syringe, its contents glowing with an eerie blue light.
“Shh, Megan, calm down,” it coos. “This will help you relax.”
I thrash about, desperate to escape. “No, no! I WON’T LET YOU SEDATE ME! I WON’T LET YOU HURT ME!” I screamed.
But my struggles are futile. The creature injects the sedative into my vein, and I feel a cold, numbing sensation spreading through my body. My screams grow weaker, my vision blurring.
As the darkness closes in, I realize I’m trapped, at the mercy of these monstrous beings. And I know I’m running out of time…
As the sedative takes hold, my screams fade into whispers, my body limp and heavy. The creatures lean in closer, their faces blurring together like a horrifying painting.
“No… please… don’t,” I whisper, my voice barely audible.
One of them smiles, its lips stretching across its face like an unpleasant parody of a grin.
“Don’t worry, Megan,” it coos. “You’ll be safe with us. We’ll take good care of you.” She says.
I try to shake my head, but my neck feels like lead, my movements slow and labored. The creatures begin to fade away, their faces dissolving into the darkness like ghosts.
As I drift off into unconsciousness, I realize I’m trapped in a living nightmare. And I don’t know if I’ll ever escape.
When I come to, I’m in a cold, dark cell, the only light coming from a faint glow in the corner. I’m alone, but I know I’m not safe. The creatures could return at any moment, their sinister intentions clear.
I try to sit up, my head spinning, my body aching. I know I must find a way out, but the cell seems escape-proof. And I’m not even sure where I am or how I got here.
Panic sets in, my heart racing, my mind reeling. I’m trapped, alone and defenseless. And I don’t know if anyone is even looking for me…
