Alpha Ricardo’s POV
A knock on my door woke me up from my sleep. With a grumble, I sat on the bed and rubbed my eyes with both hands. Throughout the night, I couldn’t sleep after what happened between Mia and me, and just a few minutes later, when I was about to get some sleep, a knock woke me up.
”Who is it!” I asked in a murmur, ”Jayson.” Jayson responded from the door, causing a heavy sigh to leave my lips. ”Come in,” I said and lay back on the bed.
The door opened, and Jayson walked in with a worried face. He closed the door, walked to my side of the bed, and looked a bit shocked when he saw my wound was healed.
”She healed you?” He asked, and I responded with a nod. A sigh of relief left his lips as he noticed I was no longer in danger, but by the look on his face, I knew something was wrong.
”What is it?” I asked while sitting on the bed. ”Lord Philip is here,” He murmured, ”He is here?” I asked to be sure and got a nod from him. ”Where is Mia?” I asked in a panic as I got out of bed, ”Still in her room,” He assured me. ”Go back to him,” I told Jayson, who nodded and left.
Hurriedly, I went to the bathroom, washed my face and mouth before returning to the room. I hastily put on sweatpants and a black T-shirt. I was worried that Mia might meet him before I got there.
Without arranging my hair, I teleported and arrived in the sitting room, only to meet Lord Philip seated on the couch while Mia sat on the other couch beside him, and Jayson stood behind Mia.
”You are finally here.” Lord Philip spoke while getting on his feet. ”What do you want?” I asked, angered and irritated by his presence.
”What do you mean by that, alpha Ricardo?” Mia asked as she also got on her feet. ”You don’t know who this man is and what he wants to get from you.” I said, trying to explain to her, but she scoffed in disbelief and shook her head, ”What’s your game this time.” She asked with so much anger and hatred for me in her eyes, which made me wonder if what happened between us met nothing to her.
”I heard you’ve already got the result, and I believe it has been confirmed that she is my child.” Lord Philip spoke while I held his gaze with gritted teeth. I wished to burn him to ashes, but my wolf kicked against it.
”I want to have a talk with you.” I told Mia as I approached her, but she shook her head in disapproval, ”I don’t want to hear it, Alpha Ricardo; please say whatever you have to say right here and now.” She spoke firmly, but I shook my head and quickly held her left arm.
Within the spilt of a few seconds, we appeared in her room, and I quickly let go of her arm.
”What is the meaning of this?” She asked angrily as she held my gaze. She has so much hate for me in her eyes, and just the thought of that broke my heart into pieces.
”Calm down, I need to tell you something,” I pleaded while she stared with angry but confused eyebrows. ”Just give me a minute,” I begged and went for my phone, which was on the bed. I picked it up, opened it, and went to my email. I searched for my dad’s email, found it, and returned to her. ”Have it,” I said while stretching my hand to her. ”What is that?” She asked, confused, staring at my phone. ”Just have it,” I pleaded.
She glared at me for a moment before taking the phone in my hand. I watched her fix her gaze on the phone while she read through it. ”A scheduled email from father?” She asked with confused eyebrows, while I responded with a nod. I watched her gulp and moved her gaze back to the phone. As she read, I watched how her mood changed. Her eyes were filled with confusion as she continued to read. ”He knew?” She whispered in half tears as she moved her gaze away from the phone and held my gaze. ”Father knew. He knew I wasn’t his daughter?” She asked in tears, while I responded with a nod.
She repeatedly blinked to keep her tears from falling, but she couldn’t. I stood there and watched her weep silently, and all I wanted was to console her in my arms, but I was scared that it might anger her, so I let her be.
”He knew, and he never treated me like a stranger. He loved me like a father would love his daughter.” She spoke in tears while I stood and watched her sniffle before she went back to the phone. I knew she hadn’t gotten to the part where it was crucial, and I was nervous, wondering how she would react.
As I watched her read further, I noticed her facial expression changed. At first, she was confused, but as she read further, I saw anger and disgust written all over her face, sending panic down my spine.
”What is the meaning?” She asked, moving her gaze at me. ”What is all this?” she asked, stepping closer. ”What you saw is all true, lord Philip….” ”Lies!” She interrupted with disgust. ”Really? What do you take me for, that I’m a fool?” She spoke angrily, ”Listen…” I tried talking, but she interrupted me, ”How dare you! How dare you try to play this silly game on me,” She yelled and threw the phone on the floor, ”Marriage!” She scoffed in anger and roughly ran her fingers through her hair, ”You think you can deceive me into getting married to you with such silly tricks.” She scoffed bitterly while shaking her head.
”I did not fabricate this. All these are true. I also did some investigations and realized everything Dad said in that email is true, he killed his children in exchange for his life, and the reason alpha Joshua is alive is that he is just his godson and not his biological son.” I said and tried getting closer to her, but she stopped me with her hand, ”Stay away!” She yelled, ”Stay away from me,” She yelled and tried walking away, but I stopped her by holding her arms. ”Stop it!” I yelled, getting tired of everything. ”I won’t, let me go. I want to leave this place,” She yelled and struggled to release from my grip, but I forcefully held her and forced her to sit.
”Seat, and let’s talk about it,” I demanded but got a hot slap on my cheek. ”Never, never will I let you trick me with these lies.” She yelled and tried to stand to her feet, but I pinned her to the couch. ”Sit,” I ordered, angered by her attitude. ”Sit and listen to me,” I demanded with rising rage.
”Let go of me.” She spoke and tried struggling out of my grip, but it was useless. ”Stay calm!” I ordered, ”I won’t!” She objected stubbornly, getting me angry.
She didn’t even think about what I was going through at the thought that she might get sacrificed if I didn’t do something really quick. Ever since I realized that her life was in danger, I have had sleepless nights deliberating on what to do and here she was, not even letting me speak.
”Let me go….” She tried speaking, but I cut her off, ”Enough!, Enough of all this.” I yelled and let go of her. ”Stop being stubborn for once and listen to me. I know you hate me so much, but you must listen. Your life will be in danger if we don’t get married.” I explained, but she scoffed in disbelief and shook her head. ”Over my dead body, will I get married to you? I would rather die than bear your mark and marry you,”? She yelled furiously, getting more on my nerves.
I narrowed my eyes, desperate for her to understand the gravity of the situation. “Stop being so stubborn. We can’t run away from this. Marriage is the only solution to this problem. Please knock it off and listen to me! You can choose your future, but you can’t escape the past. I beg you, do it for your safety and betterment.” I pleaded.
”No.” She protested, stubbornly, leaving me with no other choice. ”Unfortunately, I won’t let that happen. You are my mate, and my duty is to protect you until my last breath.” I spoke and moved away from her while she fumed in anger.
”Keep calm,” My wolf advised, but it fell on deaf ears. I knew Mia hated me, and handling the matter crucially was the only option.
”I’m going back to the sitting room and sending lord Philip off and never to come after you, and if he refuses, I will burn him to ashes.” I spoke in a severe tone, ”I won’t let you do that.” She yelled, stood to her feet and tried going for the door, but I blocked it. ”You are not leaving this room.” I spoke firmly, ”You will stay here until I’m back, and then we can talk like two adults….” ”You must be joking.” She yelled, ”No, I’m not.” I spoke, and just then, a knock came on the door.
”Come in.”
The door opened, and Simone walked in. ”You sent for me,” He said while I nodded my head. ”You will be in this room and watch over her. Make sure she doesn’t leave this room until I’m back,” I told Simone and got a nod from him.
”What is the meaning of this alpha Ricardo?” she yelled and tried getting to me, but I teleported away before she could get to me.
Within seconds, I appeared in the sitting room and met Lord Philip on his feet, exchanging words with Jayson.
”Oh, you are here, where is Mia?” He asked, moving his gaze around.
”She won’t be joining us.” I announced to him and took a seat. ”Have a seat,” I said, gesturing for him to take a seat. ”Where is my daughter?” He demanded, furious. ”She won’t join us, now have a seat,” I spoke demandingly. ”You don’t speak to me in that manner, Ricardo. I’m Lord Philip.” He yelled, making me furious. ”And I’m alpha Ricardo,” I spoke furiously. ”How dare you think I will let you sacrifice my mate for your devilish needs!” I yelled, taking a step closer to him. ”What makes you think you can have Mia?” I asked and got an angry groan from him. ”How dare you!” He yelled and took out his fangs at me. ”What do you think you are doing?” Jayson asked through gritted teeth.
”Let it be, Jayson. I can handle him and the entire vampires myself,” I said, releasing fire from my hands. I saw the terrified look on his face as he saw the flames in my hands. ”It’s either you leave, or I’ll send your ashes back to your people.”
