Chapter 41 Truth

Book:My Half Brother, My Mate Published:2024-7-5

Alpha Ricardo’s POV
”Stay in bed and have some rest.” I directed those words to Casey, who was still shedding tears. ”This is unacceptable alpha Ricardo, I don’t care if she is your half sister, but she has to be killed.” Lycan Anthony spoke furiously, but I ignored him and teleported away.
I found myself in my private room and slumped on the bed. An uncomfortable feeling bloomed in my chest as I thought of Mia. I knew that it was ridiculous of me to worry about her when I had just lost my unborn child, but surprisedly I didn’t feel anything, not even an atom of pain. ”What you are doing is wrong, and you know it!” My wolf spoke bitterly. ”You can’t just punish her without hearing her side of the story.” He spoke Angrily, while I sighed and closed my eyes. Indeed, he was right.
”Ahhh!” I exclaimed in pain and felt discomfort in my body. ”She is being flogged.” My wolf announced in a whisper, while I couldn’t say a word. ”Make them stop, she’s going to die.” He pleaded, but I ignored him and swallowed the pain. With heavy feet, I stood to my feet, walked to my bar and took out a bottle of whiskey. ”She will hate you for life.” Eric groaned in my head, ”That’s totally fine.” I sighed and drank from the bottle. I kept feeling discomfort in my body and did all I could to ignore it.
After a few minutes, the pain stopped, causing me to sigh in relief.
”I hate you.” My wolf groaned while I sighed and emptied the bottle. With a groan, I left the bar and was about to go to the couch when I felt a strange feeling envelop me, sending a cold shiver down my spine. ”What was that?” I asked my wolf, but didn’t get an answer from him. With panic, I teleported and found myself in Mia’s room.
With stunned eyes, I saw her squatting on the window ready to jump and, without a second thought, I teleported, appeared beside her, grabbed her by the waist and pulled her away from the window.
We both landed on the floor while she was on top of me, holding my gaze. ”Mine!” my wolf howled in my head as I held her gaze.
Indeed, she has the most amazing set of sea-blue eyes, reminding me of the day I first stared into her eyes. Without saying a word, we held each other’s gaze for few seconds before she snapped out of her thoughts and stood to her feet.
Quickly, I did the same while my chest pounded with fear. ”Were you trying to commit suicide.” I tried speaking, but she landed a hard slap on my cheek. Shocked, I held her gaze and saw anger and hatred for me in her eyes, which scares the shit out of me. ”I hate you, I hate you!” She yelled and whined in pain, forcing me to look at her body and realized there were bruises on her arms, causing me to regret my action.
”Why didn’t you let me just die!” She yelled and rushed to the window, but I was quick to grab her by the waist and pulled her away. ”Stop it!” I yelled in fear and panic. ”Let me go!” She yelled and continued kicking me with her feet, forcing me to drop her. Angrily, she kept throwing slaps at my chest while I just stood and watched.
She continued throwing slaps at me and stopped when she realized I wasn’t reacting to it. ”I hate you!” She yelled with panting breath. The room became silent as none of us said a word until she spoke, ”Leave!” She whispered to herself, but I knew she was talking to me. I stared at her and realized her body was trembling with pain and discomfort, causing my heart to cling with pain. ”Bring the keys.” I said through telepathy. ”Roger that!” Simone responded and closed the mind link.
I stood and watched her sobbing silently as she lowered her gaze to the floor, preventing me from seeing her eyes. ”She is innocent.” My wolf groaned and just when I was about to ask her, a knock came on the door, forcing my words back into my mouth.
The door opened and Simone walked in with the key in his hand. ”Here it is.” He said while showing the key to me.
I didn’t say a word, rather I stared at Mia and he understood. I watched him move to her and unlock the choker, while she didn’t move an inch, even when the choker was taken off.
Silence filled the room as none of us said a word until Simone broke the silence. ”Your uncle is here.” He announced. ”Where is he?” I asked, ”In the sitting room.” He responded.
With a heavy sigh, I ran my fingers through my hair and stared at Mia, whose gaze was still on the floor. ”Stay here and keep a close eye on her.” I instructed Simone and teleported away.
Within few seconds, I appeared in the sitting room and met Uncle Stephen having a conversation with aunt Cara, who held my gaze and quickly looked away. I could see the disappointed look in her face as she walked away. Indeed, I knew she was angry and disappointed in me.
”What am I hearing?” Uncle Stephen asked, in an unbelievable tone, while I heaved a deep breath and couldn’t give him a response. I was deeply regretting my action, maybe I should have heard her side of the story.
”I came for your father’s memorial, but what am I hearing.” He sighed and shook his head, ”We need to talk privately.” He said while I nodded my head, held his wrist and we both teleported and appeared in my private room.
I let go of his wrist and collapsed on the one-seater couch. Tiredly, I massaged my forehead and thought of Mia, the pain and torture I saw in her eyes were torturing me.
”I need to tell you something.” Uncle Stephen murmured, getting my attention. Curious, I moved my gaze to him and noticed he was putting on a worried look. ”First, I must ask you something.” He said and took the one-seater beside me. ”Do you by any chance think Mia’s mother is responsible for your mother’s death?” He asked.
Nervous, I gulped and thought of what to say to him. If I told him the truth, then I wonder what he would do to Mia. ”I will take your silence as a yes.” He sighed and stood to his feet. ”This explains why you hated her so much.” He grumbled and massaged the back of his neck.
I was expecting him to get mad and furious, but he was calm and composed, which got me confused. ”I need to tell you something, even though your father made me swear never to tell you.” He sighed and held my gaze. ”What is it?” I asked, curious.
He remained silent, which made me more anxious because I knew uncle Stephen. He was always outspoken, but right now, he was short of words. ”Please speak.” I pleaded and stood to my feet.
I saw him heave a deep breath before he spoke, ”Your mother, my twin sister, was not your father’s mate.” He blurted out. ”What?” I asked, unsure. ”You heard me right, Ricardo, your father and mother were never mates.” He repeated his words which sent a cold shiver down my spine.
With panting breath I sat back on the couch as his words kept buzzing in my head. ”Your father and I were good friends…” He paused and took his seat. ”Your father was already twenty-seven years and hasn’t found his mate, and he was really worried about it because he desperately needed an heir.” He sighed and took a deep breath. ”One day he paid me a visit and met your mother, but he never took interest in her because he knew he would find his mate…” he paused and gulped in pain.
”Few months later your mother fell really sick, and it was discovered that she had a few years to live.” ”What…” I shouted, shocked, while uncle Stephen continued, ”We tried everything to change the situation, we met different healers, but they all said the same thing.”
He stood to his feet and turned his back to me. ”I pleaded with your father to marry my sister, so she could have a child and live a happy life in the remaining years of her life because she also hadn’t found her mate.” Uncle Stephen words got me shocked and stunned.
”At first, both your parents refused, but with many pleads they accepted, but your mother requested that as soon as your father finds his mate she would leave. With that agreement, they got married and, after two years of their marriage, you were born. Your parents were so happy about your arrival, your father loved you and your mother so much, but unfortunately, he found his mate when you were just five years old…” He paused while his words buzzed in my head as I tried to process all he was saying.
”Mia’s mother is your father’s actual mate.” He announced, while I gulped and waited for him to continue. ”When your father found his mate he couldn’t stay away from her despite how much he had grown to love your mother, the bond was too strong and he couldn’t ignore it. He kept it a secret from your mother until the day Mia was born.” He sighed and stood to his feet.
I watched him walk to the bar, took a bottle of whiskey and two glasses. He walked back to me and kept the drink and glasses on the center table. I knew he had a lot to tell me, and patiently I waited.
I watched him fill up the glasses and handed one to me, which I refused. ”Have it.” He requested, forcing me to take the glass.
I watched him take a sip of his drink before he continues, ” Your Mother decided to leave, but your father refused because he loved you both, but your mother thought he was only showing her pity because of her condition. Issues began coming up as your mother wanted to leave, so Mia’s mother could come in with her daughter, but your father refused and kept Mia and her mother a secret from everyone until the death of your mother. I believe you knew the rest of the story.” He inhaled deeply like a huge burden has been lifted off his shoulders and emptied his glass, while I just sat numb as I processed the information I just received.
Father never really cheated on mother, but rather he respected her until her death. But if all uncle Stephen said were true, then why did the seer say something different.
”I met a seer who told me father and Mia’s mother were responsible for mother’s death.” I murmured confused.” A seer said that to you?” he asked confused, ”Yes, I paid a visit to a seer the next day after Mia’s arrival.” I spoke confused. ”That’s not the truth, your mother has been sick for a long time, but she did well in hiding it from you.” He responded, getting me more confused.
”Which seer did you pay a visit to?” He asked, ”The one from the neutral pack.” ”Shit, shit, shit!” Uncle blurted out, ”You went to see Selene?” He groaned and shook his head in regret. ”What’s going on?” I asked, confused.
”Selene lied to you, she deceived you, all she told were lies.” He groaned and filled up his cup, while I felt my breath seizing. ”Selena was once friends with your mother. She had eyes for your father and wanted to have him, but he chose your mother, which got her angry and she became enemies with your father and mother.” He announced, forcing me up to my feet, as fear ran down my spine.
I was supposed to be happy with the news, but then I remembered all the terrible things I did to Mia. ”No!” I shook my head in disbelief, ”This can’t be happening.” I whispered in panic as the terrible things I did to Mia kept flashing in my head.
”You have…” Uncle Stephen wanted to speak, but a knock on the door stopped him. ”Who is it!” I yelled in anger.
”Apologies alpha Ricardo, but we have a problem.” A guard spoke from the door. ”Come in.”
He entered and lowered his head with respect. ”What is it?” I asked.
I noticed he stared at uncle before staring back at me. ”Lord Philip is here, and he demands to see Mia.” He announced.
”Lord Philip?” I asked with furrowed eyebrows and got a nod from him, ”You mean lord Philip, the lord of the vampires?” I asked to be certain.
