Mia’s POV
I held Rick’s gaze, but he looked away and began strolling away. At first, I wanted to walk the opposite direction, but I didn’t want to cause a scene, so I strolled behind. As I followed him to the car I tried to communicate with my wolf, but she was silent, but I could feel her presence with me. Perhaps she hasn’t healed from the trauma yet.
I reached the spot where Simone parked and saw him standing beside the car having a conversation with Alpha Ricardo.
I stood a bit away from the car, waiting for him to teleport away, but he opened the car and hopped into the back seat.
”You must be kidding me.” I grumbled, still standing on the spot. ”Let’s go, miss Mia.” Simone notified. Left with no choice, I made my way to the car, opened the other side of the car and got in.
I sat at the other end of the car while Alpha Ricardo sat at the other end. The atmosphere was awkward for me because it’d been over three years since we sat in the same car.
Releasing a heavy sigh, I lay my head on the window of the car and tiredly shut my eyes, totally ignoring the presence of Ricardo, sitting just a bit away from me.
Memories flashed through my head, Memories of my father and mother, which sent a sharp pain to my heart. Quickly, I snapped out of my thoughts and slowly opened my eyes. I tried to hold back the tears that threatened to fall down on my cheek, but I couldn’t.
A few droplets of tears fell on my cheek and I quickly wiped them off with the back of my palms. ”Please let my plan work.” I made a silent prayer to the moon goddess.
After a ten-minute drive, Simone drove into the garage and put off the engine. Alpha Ricardo was the first to come out, followed by Simone, before I reluctantly got out of the car.
When I got out of the car, Alpha Ricardo was already gone. With a grunt, I made my way to the sitting room and met him seated on the single-seater couch. Ignoring him, I made my way to the stairs, ”How did you two meet?” his words stopped me.
I wanted to ignore his question and walk away, but he was Alpha Ricardo and I had to give him that respect. ”We met at a birthday party a few years ago.” I responded with my back to him.
”Look me in the eyes when speaking.” He ordered, angered.
Heaving a deep breath, I turned and held his gaze. ”What do you want from me?” I asked, tired of everything. He groaned at my words and took few steps towards me, while I did not bother to take a step back, despite how scared I was.
He held my gaze with his intimidating gaze, but I did not bother to look away, he was a human like me despite who he is.
”Don’t do anything stupid.” He warned and teleported away from my presence. ”Fuck you.” I yelled and angrily tapped my feet on the floor, bringing the attention of few servants to me.
Grunting angrily, I took the stairs and stepped into my room. With rage, I sat on the bed and wished I could do something about my situation, but I couldn’t come up with a meaningful idea.
With a frustrated sigh, I lay on the bed and was about to close my eyes when I heard a familiar voice in my head. ”Hi Mia!” ”Beta Jayson?” I asked, startled.
”Did I scare you?” He asked, ”No, no.” I responded quickly.
”Alright, I just wanted to check up on you. Are you okay.’? He asked, concerned. ”I’m fine. Thanks for your concern.” I quickly responded.
He went silent for a while before speaking, ”Come to me if you need any help.” He spoke sincerely. ”Thanks, I appreciate.” I responded. ”Alright, I’ll go now.” He said and closed the mind link.
”Help me goddess.” I grumbled and tiredly shut my eyes. I tried to communicate with my wolf, but got no response from her. Obviously, she was still in pain.
A few hours later, I stood before my closet while scanning through it. I knew I wouldn’t stay long at the party, so I had to dress properly, a dress that is fit to travel in.
After much searching around the closet, I decided to go in a navy-blue jumpsuit. Quickly, I changed into it, packed my hair in a bun and rubbed red lipstick on my lips. While my heart beat with fear, I stood before the mirror and turned my head sideways to take a look at the tiny mark of alpha Ricardo on the left part of my neck. The mark looks like a tiny dot which one wouldn’t take notice as a mark.
With a heavy sigh, I left the mirror, picked up my bag, which was filled with some cash, and my phone before leaving my room. I took the stairs to the sitting room, searched around for aunt Cara, but she was nowhere in the sitting room. I wanted to indirectly say my goodbyes to her because I couldn’t reveal my plans to her.
When I realized she was nowhere around, I decided to just leave. I left the sitting room, walked towards the gate and asked the gate guard to open the gate for me, which he did. I got out of the mansion and began my journey. From the mansion to Rachel’s place was a stone’s throw, so there was no need to take a cab. After a five-minute walk, I got to Rachel’s home and knocked at the door.
”Is that you, Mia?” Rachael asked from inside the house and I responded. I heard footsteps approaching the door before the door went wide open. ”Wow, you look simple and good.” She praised and stepped aside for me to walk in.
”Thanks.” I scoffed and made my way to the sitting room. When I got to the sitting room, I met Sarah seated on the couch with a big smile on her face. ”Who do we have here!” She praised, while I rolled my eyes and took a seat. I settled my gaze on Sarah and saw she was putting on a black crazy short that stopped on her lap, exposing most of her thighs. She wore a red crop dress which showed some part of her stomach and her black hair was let loose. She looked incredibly hot and sexy.
”Don’t tell me you are losing your virginity tonight.” I teased while she scoffed and shook her head, ”I’ll be eighteen in the next two months, maybe I might be lucky to meet my mate, so I’m not in a hurry.” She responded in a serious tone, while I smiled and looked away. Too bad I won’t be getting laid for a long period of time.
Sarah kept blabbering about how she was going to enjoy herself at the party, and all I could do was to listen.
Few minutes later, Rachel walked into the sitting room, looking hot and sexy. She wore a black strapless dress which stopped on her thighs. Her black hair was packed in two places while a red ribbon was tied on each edge of the hair. She wore black high hill boots which fitted her so perfectly. ”Sexy!” Sarah praised after running her gaze on Rachel. ”Thanks guys, we should all head out, the cab is already outside.” She announced and led us out of the sitting room.
We went out of the house and a yellow cab was parked outside, waiting for us.
Sarah and I took the back seat, while Rachel sat in the front seat beside the driver.
A cheerful conversation went on in the cab, as both Rachael and Sarah spoke happily about college, while I just hummed and looked outside the window. I have no idea what would happen to my college dreams. I would be running away from home, leaving all the wealth and life Father Kept for me. I knew I would start life afresh, and that meant I had to get a job to take care of myself before I could think of going to college.
”Are you okay?” Sarah asked with a soft tap on my shoulder, snatching me out of my thoughts. ”Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.” I flashed her a weak smile and looked away. ”Are you sick or does this mood come with your wolf?” Rachael asked ignorantly, while I scoffed and looked away.
After a few minutes, drive, the cab came to a halt in front of the most popular hotel in California, which happened to be in our pack. We all got out of the cab and made our way through the gate. We took the direction that led to the pool side where the party was being held.
As we got closer to the pool side, we could hear loud music blasting from afar. ”This will be so much fun.” Rachael yelled happily, and dragged Sarah and me by the arms.
We got to the pool side and saw hundreds of young teens having fun. Some were in the swimming pool, while others were at the bar, drinking, and the others were grinding themselves together. ”This is so much fun.” Rachael spoke happily and dragged us along. We ended up at the bar and took the empty long stools. ”Welcome beautiful ladies, what would you like to have?” The bartender asked, ”A class of wine.” Sarah responded, ”A glass of whiskey and a glass of water for my friend.” Rachael said with a mockery laugh While I rolled my eyes and said, ”A glass of dry gin, not to worry I’m the only adult among us.” I teased while the bartender smiled and went for our orders.
”I will turn eighteen, six months from now.” Rachael grumbled playfully. Sarah and I chuckled at her words and fixed our gaze on the party behind us. ”keep your mind open, Mia, you might find your mate here.” Rachael said, and whack my left arm. ”Yeah, you may be right.” Sarah responded.
I stared at my two clueless friends and shook my head. If only they knew.
Our drinks were brought to us, we paid and left with our drinks back to the pool. ”Is that Jessy?, I’ll go say hi.” With that, Rachael left Sarah and me alone, like she always does. I took a sip of my drink and scanned around, looking for a particular person, even though the odds of him being here were low. ”Are you looking for someone.” Sarah asked, when she caught me searching around with my eyes. ”Yes, but I don’t think he would be here.” I responded with a weak smile and took another sip of my drink. ”Are you by any chance looking for him?” She asked, while looking at a direction. Curious, I moved my gaze to her direction and spotted Beta Jayson standing a few steps away from us, having a discussion with the football captain who happened to be his cousin.
”What is he doing here?” I asked, nervous. If he is here, that means alpha Ricardo is here, and I might not recognize him because my wolf is still not active.
”Why can’t he be here? He is just twenty-four, being a beta doesn’t mean he can’t come to parties like this.” Sarah responded with a scoff. ”Seems he isn’t the one you are looking for.” She said and just when I was about to respond, the person I was checking out, walked through the entrance with just a black short. ”Woah!” I whispered to myself as I ran a quick gaze on his muscular body. He looked incredibly hot, with broad shoulders and six packs, which proves he has been doing lots of work out.
With my gaze fixed on him, I watched him jump into the pool and sink inside. I believed all eyes were on him, including Sarah’s. ”Gosh, a god in human form.” She whispered beside me. I watched him swim to the other end of the pool and just when I was about to look away, he held my gaze.
Embarrassed, I looked away and pulled Sarah along with me. ”What is it, where are you taking me?” Sarah asked, confused, as I pulled her away until we got lost in between the crowd where he couldn’t see us.
”What was that?” Sarah asked, and I couldn’t give her a response ”Is everything okay, you’ve been acting strange since yesterday, are you okay?” She asked with a worried look while I just nodded my head as a response.
”Are you…” She tried speaking, but I quickly cut her off, ”Let split, go and have fun and mingle with people just like Rachael while I do the same.” I quickly suggested and walked away before she could object to it.
I got lost in the crowd and was out of Sarah’s sight. With panic, I emptied the glass of dry gin in my hand, kept it on a table and inhaled deeply. Curious, I moved my gaze around to make sure no one was looking my way. Although alpha Ricardo was not here, but I needed to be careful not to be caught.
When I was sure no one was paying attention to me, I walked through the crowd and made my way out of the pool side. Successfully, I left the pool side and made my way to the entrance gate. I got to the gate and just when I was about to walk out of the hotel I felt a presence behind me. With my heart thumping with fear, I turned around and met the curious eyes of Joshua. This time he was no longer putting on black shorts, but rather he was dressed in tight white jeans and a navy-blue long sleeve shirt, while three buttons were left open, revealing his muscular chest.” Are you leaving so early?” He asked, and took a step closer.
