Chapter 26: Stuck with him

Book:My Half Brother, My Mate Published:2024-7-5

Mia’s POV
My body became numb as I saw him standing before me with a blank look. His eyes looked exhausted, and his black hair was roughly scattered. He was putting on just sweatpants and was shirtless, obviously he came out in a hurry.
”Where are you going?” He asked while holding my gaze with a piercing stare. I gulped and moved my gaze around only to realize all the servants were all gone, leaving Alpha Ricardo and me.
”I asked a question.” His words brought me back from my thoughts. ”I’m leaving.” I blurted out with no atom of fear in me. He scoffed at my words and shook his head like I just said a silly word. ”Really?” He asked with a loud chuckle. ”Yes, and you can’t keep me here, I’m now eighteen, remember?” I spoke with all the courage I could gather, everything about him speaks power and authority, and it takes a lot of courage for me to be able to talk back at him.
I heard him groan angrily and shut his eyes for a moment before opening them. ”Get back inside.” He ordered. Everything in me was urging me to obey his words, but I stood my ground and shook my head. ”No, I won’t.” I bluntly refused.
He held my gaze for a second and like a blink of an eye he held my wrist, and we appeared in father’s room, which was now his. With stunned eyes, I stared at the room, before staring back at him. This was the first time I was being teleported by his gift.
He left me standing by the door, walked over to a safe, which was locked. Curious, I watched him type in some code before he pulled out the safe. I watched him take out a File from the safe, stared at the File for a while before he walked back to me. ”Read through this.” He said while handing the File to me. ”What’s this?” I asked, while eyeing the File in his hand. Ignoring my question, he forcefully placed the file in my hand and made his way to the mini-bar. Curious, I opened the file and went through it. Just reading through the first three lines, my eyes widened with fear. ”This is not true.” I spoke in disbelief. He ignored my words and sat on the couch with a glass of wine in his left hand. ”Keep reading.” He ordered.
With panting breath, I moved my eyes back to the File and continued reading through it. After reading past the first paragraph, I couldn’t go further. ”All these are lies.” I yelled while throwing the file on the floor.
He scoffed, took a sip of his drink and stood at his feet. ”This File was stamped with dad’s official stamp, you can go see the council of wolverines if you think it’s false.” He said with a victorious grin.
”No, never.” I yelled, and marched forward to him. ”You have no choice, my little Mia, you are stuck with me for life.” He mocked. ”No, this ridiculous, how could father make you my guidance until I find my mate!” I yelled, still shaking my head. I couldn’t believe the fact that father made Ricardo my guidance until I get my mate, he made Ricardo my caretaker and as declared as my father and my alpha that on no account should I leave Ricardo’s protection until I find my mate, and he must be accepted by Ricardo, only with that can I leave Ricardo’s side.
”This is insane, these are all lies, you forged all this.” I yelled in disbelief. Dad knew how much Ricardo hated me, then why would he make such a declaration. ”You can file a case against it to the wolverines if you think it is forged.” He spoke so confidently like he already knew the outcome of the case, obviously they wouldn’t want to go against him, Everyone is feared being burnt to ashes.
”You are a beast, just let me go.” I yelled, ”Never!” he responded with a groan, ”This is just the beginning, Mia. I will make you feel so much pain that you will get so used to it.” He yelled while holding my gaze.
His words tore my heart into pieces and I almost broke down in tears, but I held them back and held his gaze. ”I’m the daughter of alpha Luciano, you can’t treat me unfairly.” I spoke back with no atom of fear. I heard him chuckling at my words and took another step closer to me. Nervously, I moved backwards and hit my back on the wall. While holding my gaze, he took another step forward to me and stood just an inch apart from me. I could smell the manly scents of fresh wood coming out of his body, and just his presence made my knees weak.
He moved over to the left part of my neck and I could swear I felt him inhale deeply, which sent a cold shiver down my spine. I could feel his hot breath fanning my neck and, willingly, I felt my body submit to him.
”You have the gift of healing.” He did not express those words as a question. ”And you think it will be able to wipe off the bond?” He mocked and moved away from my neck. ”You may be able to make the mark a bit invisible, but the bond is strong as ever.” He mocked. ”You have no idea what I have in store for you.” He whispered into my left ear, and before I could process his words, he teleported away from the room.
With panting breath, I collapsed on the floor and dragged my knees to my chest as I stared at the file on the floor. I felt all the blood in my body draining out of my body. I can’t believe I’m stuck in this mansion with him until he gets tired of me. ”No!” I shook my head in disapproval and stood to my feet.
Quickly, I opened the door of dad’s room and went out. I made my way to the last floor by using the stairs. When I got to the sitting room, I met Jayson having a drink, probably waiting for Ricardo.
Jayson turned in my direction and held my gaze, without a second thought, I hurriedly made my way to him and held his two arms. ”Please help me.” I pleaded. He stared at me with raised and confused eyebrows. ”What is wrong?” He asked, concerned. ”I… I…” I stuttered because I couldn’t form words out of my lips. ”Calm down and take a seat.” He held my two arms and made me take his seat. He squatted before me and held my gaze with a pitiful look. ”Take a deep breath.” He pleaded. Heeding to his words, I closed my both eyes and inhaled deeply. Slowly, I opened my eyes and met the curious and worried gaze of Jayson.
Seeing how worried he was about me, my heart clenched with pain. He was my ideal type of man, caring, supportive and kind.
”Talk to me.” He pleaded, ”I…” Just when I was about to speak, Ricardo appeared in the sitting room.
The moment I saw him, my body froze with fear and I couldn’t form words out of my lips. ”You are here.” Jayson greeted him and moved his gaze back to me. ”You were about saying something?” He asked, ignoring Alpha Ricardo’s presence.
With panic, I stood to my feet and wanted to run away, but Jayson was quick to grab my wrist. ”What is wrong?” He asked, but this time through telepathy. I shook my head because I couldn’t say a word, not when Ricardo was standing just few steps away from me.
”Let her go.” Alpha Ricardo uttered, but Jayson ignored him and fixed his gaze on me. ”Does it involve him?” He asked through telepathy, and all I could do was to nod. I heard him release a heavy sigh and let go of my wrist. ”We will talk about this someday.” He assured me through telepathy, and all I could do was to hurriedly take the stairs.
I got to my room, pushed my door open and slammed my back on the bed. ”This is a dream.” I mumbled to myself as tears trimmed down on my cheek. I cried for hours until I eventually fell asleep.
”Wake up Mia.” I heard Sarah’s voice in my sleep. Gradually, I opened my eyes and saw Sarah seated beside me with a worried look on her face. Sighing heavily, I sat on the bed, ignoring her questioning gaze on me. ”Spill it out!” She demanded. ”What?” I asked, pretending ignorant. ”Terrible liar.” She scoffed and stood to her feet.
I watched her strolled to the fridge in a corner in my room, took out a bottle of water and a glass cup. She walked back to me, poured the water into the glass and handed it over to me. Reluctantly, I took the glass of water from her and took a sip of it. ”Beta Jayson made a mind link with me.” She announced. ”Jayson?” I asked, while giving the glass back to her. ”Yes, he said I should come meet you that you are not feeling fine.” She explained. ” Really?” I asked, thrilled, that he really cares so much about me. ”Yeah, so you better start telling me what’s going on, I mean everything, don’t you dare keep anything away from me.” She warned.
”There is nothing to talk about.” I murmured and left the bed. ”You are bad at lying.” She said, but I ignored her and walked to my reading table. ”Something is definitely wrong.” She urged me, but I ignored her and dragged out my seat. I sat behind the table, picked up a pen and paper.
”So you don’t wanna talk about it?” She asked with folded arms. ”I need to work on my speech, remember it’s tomorrow.” I murmured with a deep sigh, ”So we now keep secrets from each other?” She asked, but I couldn’t give a response. How could I possibly tell her I am mated with my half brother, who promised to make my life a living hell.
”I will tell you when the time is right.” I pleaded. She remained silent for a moment before nodding her head in agreement. ”I will wait until you are ready to talk.” She heaved a deep sigh and sat on the bed.
The room remained silent as none of us said a word, but I noticed Sarah’s curious gaze on me while I wrote down my speech.
”You are still coming for the after party?” Sarah asked after several minutes of silence. I wanted to object to it, but then a silly idea came to my mind, an idea that I wouldn’t have imagined I would take.
