Book:My Half Brother, My Mate Published:2024-7-5

Mia’s POV
”This can’t be true.” I yelled and dropped to the floor. ”No, no, no!” I yelled in disbelief as I processed all that happened few minutes ago.
With shaking hands, I placed my fingertips on my bleeding neck and yelled in tears. How could this be possible, how can I be mated to my half brother who hates me with everything in him. ”This is a prank, right?” I questioned no one in particular.
”Calm down.” My wolf finally spoke, ”Don’t tell me to fucking calm down, do you know what it means.” I yelled, bitterly.
She did not give me a response, rather she went silent again, and I was left wailing in pain and misery. With my heart clenching with pain, I dragged my knees to my chest and wept bitterly. This was never what I imagined my life for me.
I did not know how long I’d been in that position, but the whimpering of my wolf caught my attention. ”Mine!” My wolf whimpers in pain. ”What is it?” I asked, scared and worried, for strange reasons I was worried about Ricardo, perhaps it was the effect of his mark on my neck.
Curiously, I stood to my feet, opened my door and stood outside my room. I fixed my gaze on Ricardo’s door and became curious about what was wrong with him. ”Mine!” My wolf howled angrily and pushed my feet towards his door.
I got to his door, stood there and didn’t know what to do. My wolf was whimpering, and it was making me uncomfortable. ”What is it…” I did not finish my words before I was cut off by an immense pain.
At first, the pain pierced through my heart, throwing me down to the floor. I held unto my burning chest and wined in pain as the pain continued to strike from my heart to my entire body. My whole body shook with pain, pain that I couldn’t explain. ”What’s… Going. On…” I asked while gritting my teeth, and my sight became blurry. I didn’t get a response from my wolf, but rather she continued whimpering in pain and with that, I understood what she meant.
”Oh moon goddess.” I sobbed in pain and continued rolling on the floor right in front of Ricardo’s door. ”Mia!” I heard aunt Cara’s voice from afar, but I was too weak to reply. ”What is wrong with you…” She paused, lifted me up from the floor, and wrapped my left arm around her shoulder. ”Please take me out of here.” I managed to speak. ”What’s wrong?” She asked again, but I didn’t give her a response, what could I possibly tell her?
With much struggle, she got to my door, pushed it open and walked me into my room. With throbbing heart, I dropped on the bed while my entire body vibrated with immense pain. ”What is wrong…” She paused and took a few steps closer to me. ”Are you marked…” She exclaimed in shock, but I couldn’t give her a response.
”Who marked you, who is inflicting this much pain on you, who…” She gasped and shook her head in disbelief, ”No, no, no.” She shook her head in disbelief, it was obvious she knew everything without me saying it.
”How is this possible?” She asked with doubt, but I did not say a word because my eyes were becoming blurry. ”Mia, Mia, are you okay?” She sat on the bed and shook me viciously, and before I could say a word, I blacked out.
”Do you think she will be okay?” I heard the familiar voice of aunt Cara from afar, ”Yes, she will wake up soon.” Another familiar voice which sounded like Doctor Steven’s voice responded.
Curiously, I slowly opened my eyes and the first thing that came to my sight was the white ceiling of my room. ”She is awake!” Aunt Cara exclaimed in relief. Curious, I moved my gaze and saw aunt Cara and Doctor Stephen standing beside me with a worried face. ”You got us scared.” Doctor Steven spoke with a sigh of relief.
”How are you feeling, Mia…” Aunt Cara asked, but I cut in, ” I had a really terrible dream.” I murmured with a frown and quickly went for the left part of my neck only to realize the injury was still there, and it was never a dream. ”No, No!” I shook my head in disbelief and held the gaze of aunt Cara, who stared at me with a pitiful look. ”No, it’s a dream.” I pleaded, half in tears. ”Calm down.” Aunt Cara pleaded and sat on the bed beside me. ”We will figure this out.” She assured me and moved her gaze back to doctor Stephen, who has a blank look on his Face. ”Thanks, I would like to be with her alone.” She notified doctor Stephen who nodded his head, flickered a warm smile at me and left the room.
With panting breath, I remembered all that happened last night. The memories were still fresh in my head. I could still feel crumbs of the pains in my heart and my neck hurts so badly.
”Alpha Ricardo is your mate.” She did not say it as a question, it was obvious she knew, so there was no need denying it. With tears-filled eyes, I nodded my head and looked away.
The room remained silent as neither I nor Aunt Cara said a word to each other. We were both lost in our thoughts. I tried to communicate with my wolf, but she was silent, like she never existed, which got me scared. ”My wolf, I can’t feel her?” I spoke in fear.
”It’s okay, she is fine, but you can’t communicate with her because she is also healing from the pain she suffered last night.” Aunt Cara assured me with a gentle tap on my shoulder. With a heavy sigh, I fell back on the bed and shut my eyes with pain. A few droplets of tears fell on my cheek and I didn’t bother to hold them back.
This was never what I imagined my life to be. How could the moon goddess be this cruel to me, how could she mate me with my half brother who wants nothing but revenge for the death of his Mother.
”What is the next step.” Aunt Cara asked, and I didn’t have an answer to that. I was confused about the whole thing. ”I know alpha Ricardo never liked you or your mother, but what I can’t seem to understand is why he would mark you and inflict such pain on you when he knows you might die in the process.” Aunt Cara spoke, confused and in disbelief.
Inhaling deeply, I opened my eyes and wiped my cheek with the back of my palms. I sat on the bed and held Aunt Cara’s gaze, which was filled with worries. ” How did alpha Ricardo mom die?” I asked, curious.
”Is he accusing your mom of the death of our late Luna.” Aunt Cara asked, stunned. ”Yes, in fact, he thinks father and mother conspired to kill her.” I gulped in pain and shook my head.
”That’s ridiculous, our late Luna of blessed memory died of pneumonic plague.” Aunt Cara explained. ”He thinks father made it up.” I responded with a sigh and left the bed. ”How could he think such terrible things of mother and father. Mother can’t even kill a fly, let alone a human.” I spoke bitterly and stood before my window.
I opened the window and inhaled the fresh morning breeze coming from the garden. This place was supposed to be a happy home for me, but with the death of my mother and father, this place became my worst nightmare.
”I should go talk to him.” Aunt Cara suggested, but I shook my head and turned in her direction. ”There is no need to do that.” I responded and walked forward to her. ”What do you intend to do?” She asked worried.
”First, I will have to do this.” With a deep breath, I ran my fingers on the mark and slowly closed my eyes, wishing for the mark to heal, and it miraculously did.
”You have the gift of healing?” Aunt Cara asked, stunned, and I responded with a nod while opening my eyes. ”Wow, this is great news.” She spoke excitedly and fixed her gaze on my neck. ” The mark is really tiny and no one would take notice of it, but that doesn’t mean the mate bond is erased, if he sleeps around or anything happens to him, you will still feel it because he has already tasted your blood.” She announced with a pitiful look which brought out a heavy sigh out of my lips.
With heavy feet, I sat on the bed and drew back the tears that threatened to fall on my cheek. ”Maybe I should have died in that accident.” I murmured in regret. ”Don’t say that, the moon goddess has a reason to keep you alive, and you should be grateful for…” ”Grateful for what?” I cut in, furious, ”I should be grateful that she let my parents died and mate me with a beast!” I yelled and angrily stood to my feet. Pain and anger were racing all over my body and I knew if I had a dangerous gift I would be spoiling things at that moment.
”Calm down.” Aunt Cara pleaded. With a deep breath, I closed my eyes and calmed my nerves before opening them. ”I’m leaving.” I announced. ”I’m leaving this place.” I spoke out loud and hurriedly went to my closet.
In a hurry, I took out a box, lay it on the bed and began tossing my clothes inside the box. ”Where will you go?” Aunt Cara asked, ”Anywhere but this place.” I responded and began arranging my things properly inside the box. ”You need…” ”I can’t stay here.” I cut in, ”I might die if I continue to stay here.” I yelled and hurriedly put on my boots.
”You can run away from this house, but you can’t run away from the mate bond, he will still track you and inflict a lot of pain on you.” She pleaded. ”To hell with him, to hell with the moon goddess and to hell with the mate bond.” I yelled furiously and picked up my box. ”Think about it, you have nowhere to go, you have no relatives.” She pleaded, but I ignored her, opened my door and stormed out of my room.
As I took the stairs, memories played in my head. I remember how Mother and I came into this Mansion with so much happiness and expectations. I, in particular, was delighted because I would get to meet my big brother, and another member of my family apart from my mother and father. I had so many ideas in my head. I imagined we would play games together, go to school together; he would play the role of a big brother, protecting me from everyone who dares to bully me, but alas, all that never happened.
With my heart clenching with pain, I arrived in the sitting room and met the eyes of curious servants staring at me, but none bothered to ask or stop me.
With a heavy heart, I made my way to the door, and was about to reach for the doorknob when suddenly alpha Ricardo appeared right before me.
