Mia’s POV
”Mother!, father, wait up.” I called out and tried meeting up with them, but felt my legs stuck to the ground. Again I tried to make a move, but my legs couldn’t move.
”What’s going on mother?” I asked while meeting her gaze, but didn’t get a response from her. ”Mother, father, come help me, I’m stuck in here.” I pleaded, but they both shook their head in disapproval. ”No, my dear Mia, we can’t help you.” Father spoke up. ”Why…” I asked confused, ”Do you guys wanna leave me in this thick dark Forest?” I asked in fear while staring around with panic.
”Unfortunately, yes, we have to leave you.” Mother responded with a weak smile, ”No please Mother, don’t leave me, I want to go with you guys, this place is scary.” I pleaded in tears and struggled to make a move, but it was useless.
”You can’t come with us Mia, your destiny is waiting for you and you can’t leave him behind, he needs you, and you will need him.” mom said with a smile and they both turned their backs to me.
”No, please don’t leave me here!” I pleaded, ”This place is scary.” I yelled in tears, which made mother turn in my direction. ”This place can be whatever you want it to be. It can be a paradise or a forest for you, it all depends on your decision.” She whispered with a half smile and they both vanished from my sight.
”No!” I yelled and forcefully opened my eyes, only to see three nurses, staring at me with curious eyes.
”Go inform the doctor that she is awake, but there might be a problem.” One of the nurses uttered, and I noticed a nurse rushed out of the room.
”Where am I?” I asked with panting breath while I tried to touch my head and realized it was bandaged. ”What…” I wanted to speak when suddenly memories flickered in my head.
I remembered dad and mom were in a heated argument and then… ”An accident.” I spoke out loud in panic and sat on the bed. ”Where are my parents?” I asked the two nurses, but none gave a response.
”Where are my parents? Take me to them, I want to see them, are they alright?” I asked in panic while memories of my dream flashed in my head, causing a great deal of fear to rush down my spine.
”Calm down miss…” A nurse tried reassuring me, but I wouldn’t listen. ”Where is mother, where is father.” I yelled and forcefully took out the needle that was pierced into my veins. ”I want to see my parents, where are they?” I asked in fear as I tried leaving the bed, but the two nurses held me down and pinned me to the bed with forceful grips.
”You have to calm down, you haven’t recovered fully.” One of the nurses urged, but I ignored her and struggled to take their grips off me. I was scared, really scared. Something tells me something was wrong, and I wished I was wrong.
”Where is my mother? I want to see my mother.” I pleaded in tears but got no response from them.
”Stay calm…”
”Don’t tell me to calm down, I want to see my parents.” I yelled in fear and panic, but the nurses didn’t say a word.
With fear and strength, I freed myself from their grips, scrambled out of the bed and rushed to the door. Just when I was about to hold the doorknob, the door widely opened and Ricardo stood before me with a blank look on his face.
He held my gaze with no emotion on his face, but then I noticed something in his eyes, something that made a cold shiver run down my spine. ”Where… Is… Father…”
”He is dead.” He cut in.
His words made me stagger backward as an immersed pain struck my heart. ”You are lying…” I mumbled in disbelief while shaking my head. ”So is your mother.” He announced coldly and shut the door behind him.
”No, no, no. ”I yelled and grabbed him by the arms. ”Tell me all these are lies.” I pleaded with panting breath while ignoring the painful aches in my head.
He stared at my hands on his arms for a moment before glaring coldly at me. ”Take your hands off me.” He muttered as an order which made me gulp and took my hand off.
I realized my legs became weak and couldn’t carry my body, so I fell to the floor and began weeping loudly. ”No!” I yelled in pain, ”This can’t be possible.” I screamed in grief. ”You are disturbing the hospital, remember here is a hospital and not your home.” Ricardo spoke coldly and moved away from the door.
With stunned eyes, I watched him comfortably sat on the couch while holding my gaze with a non-expression look, which made me wonder how a son could be this unconcern and nonchalant about the death of his father.
I understood since I arrived here, Ricardo hated dad and wished him death but does that mean he has a hand in it? I thought to myself and held his cold-blooded eyes.
”You killed them?” I asked with raging anger, ”They would have made it alive just like me, but you killed them, right?” I asked while getting on my feet. ”Why did you do it, why would you kill them”? I yelled and began throwing slaps at him, which made him groan, and held my two hands. Groaning angrily, he stood to his feet and held my gaze for a second before fixing it on the terrified nurses. ”Excuse us.” His voice was low but full of command.
Hurriedly, the nurses rushed out of the room, leaving me with Rick. ”Let go of me!” I yelled and tried to free myself, but he pushed me to the wall and pressed my face and body to the wall while he held my wrist behind me. ”Let go of me!” I yelled in fear.
”I wished them nothing but death.” He whispered harshly into my left ear. ” For the past four years I wanted to pay them back for what they did, but unfortunately, I wasn’t given the privilege because karma decided to do my dirty work.” He spoke in anger and tightened his grips on my wrists, which forced a painful whine from my lips. ”But you know what?” He asked with a bitter chuckle. ”Karma decided to leave me with a pleasant gift, which is you.” He spoke with a bitter chuckle, which got me confused and at the same time scared.
”Since I couldn’t get my revenge on them, then it’s only right that you will have to pay for their sins…” his words got me more confused. ”Those two think they can escape my rage by dying, but they are entirely wrong. ” He yelled with gritted teeth. ”I will make sure they hear your painful cry right from their graves. I’ll make sure they wished they were alive to help. I’ll cause you so much pain that you would wish for nothing but death.” He muttered those words not as a threat, but as a promise which he must fulfill.
