Others looked at him in confusion but Audrey understood him perfectly.
Audrey turned and stared at him. She didn’t know how to feel, she knew it was Alpha Lake’s orders, but she didn’t know if she could still be friendly with someone who had a hand in her near-death experience.
“I know you hate me right now. But I beg you to forgive me. I needed to get it off my chest, it’s been weighing on me for the past year.
I’m sorry, Audrey.” He cautiously walked up to her and placed his hand on her shoulder.
Andrew felt light Like a load had been lifted off his chest.
He needed to make that confession, if he was taking her as his mate, he didn’t want any secrets between them.
“I think, I need to think about that,” Audrey said.
Audrey said and walked out of the room, leaving everyone behind.
Four pairs of eyes were glued to the door Audrey had just gone through, different emotions in their eyes.
Alpha Sebastian was dumbfounded, Andrew was filled with regrets, Sandra felt empathy and Alex felt anger, raging anger.
“It was you!” Alex launched at Andrew from behind, pushing him to the floor.
Andrew hit his head by the side of the table as he fell, but he quickly got up, dodging the fist that was coming right at his face with speed.
“Stop it!” Alpha Sebastian commanded.
Alex quit his actions immediately from the Alpha’s command.
“Fuck! Cub!” Andrew held his bleeding forehead, he wasn’t expecting such an attack from anyone in that room, but even if he foresaw it, he couldn’t possibly hurt Alex. He would kill him if he did.
“You almost killed her!” Alex growled.
“Quit it! Alex. We all feel bad about Audrey’s predicament. If we had the power we wouldn’t let it happen. Remember, we watched her been dragged to the dungeon; that, was the start of her misery, so, we’re also to blame.” Sandra explained.
“Go to your rooms,” Alpha Sebastian commanded.
“Yes, Alpha,” Sandra said and left.
Alex stood for a second more, angrily glaring at Andrew before he dashed out of the room, leaving only Alpha Sebastian and Andrew.
“Tell me everything.” Alpha Sebastian said.
Audrey slowly walked up the stairs to the Alpha’s condo. She felt emotionally exhausted, everything weighed down on her that night. She was reminded of how deathly Alpha Lake actually was.
He was so inhumane, the thought of what Andrew had said left her feeling conflicted.
She wasn’t angry at him, at the same time, she was angry him, he was just following orders. Yes, an order to dispose a wounded girl; a stupid order. Only a souless devil could give such orders, only Alpha Lake.
Her determination was sealed. Nothing, absolutely nothing was going to keep her here till full moon. She would find her amulet be get the fuck out of this cursed Pack.
She paused as she reached the door, a very unsettled aroma wafted through the the door; someone was cooking something.
She wondered if the Alpha decided to make something to eat since their night had been cut short by his lovely and meek visitors.
She opened the door and slowly walked in, only to find Janeth comfortably sitting on the dinning with the Alpha.
Has she successfully convinced him? Whatever! She walked into the living room and kept walking on, intending to ignore the duo.
Alpha Lake sensed Audrey the moment she walked in. He felt conflicted, he didn’t know what to do.
How was he supposed to function well when he had two people that looked exactly the same?
He had brought Janeth up to his house and asked her to prepare him dinner, at least he would know if she was Audrey or not, and, from the food in front of him… she was no Audrey, the food was inedible and smelt like rotten egg.
It was a simple omelette, yet, she managed to make it looked raw , and the mixture of the wrong ingredients she used made it smell awful.
Alpha was reaching his limit with the fraudster in front of him.
“Alpha! That’s her! The imposter! Tell her to return my bracelet!” Janeth stood from the dining chair and walked up to Audrey.
SLAP!!!
Alpha Lake wasn’t expecting it, but the next moment, he heard a loud slap from the living room.
Audrey palmed her cheek, staring at Janeth with no emotion in her eyes.
She was slowly reaching limit, there will soon reach a time when she would damn everyone and show her real identity by burning someone to ash at the slightest provocation.
Audrey already knew Janeth’s plans before she got up from the chair. She only allowed Janeth to slap her so she could read her mind through the skin contact, and she did.
She discovered something very funny and stupid.
“Audrey!” Alpha Lake bellowed from the dining.
What was this girl’s plan exactly.
“Alpha, she… the bracelet you gifted me…” Janeth started crying, tears effortlessly ran down her cheeks, any passer by would think she was the one that had gotten slapped.
“Catherine…”
“Here, it’s rightfully yours.” Audrey removed the bracelet and dropped it I to Janeth’s palm.
There was no use letting him finish what he wanted to say, she was tured of all the drama.
She turned around and left them standing in the living with confusion written all over their faces.
They didn’t expect her to give back the bracelet so easily.
“You see, she knew it was mine all along! Alpha, send her away right away, she’s a threat to our Pack! She dares to collaborate with a witch!” Janeth said maliciously.
“She did?” Alpha Lake asked.
“Yes! How else did she transform herself to look exactly like me?” Janeth explained.
Alpha Lake watched her as she delicately carresed the gold bracelet on her wrist.
He didnt feel comfortable seeing someone else wearing Audrey’s bracelet, he had carefully chosen that gift for her, and he had personally engraved that word on it, and now, a stranger was wearing it so proudly and he could not take it from her, till he had a proof that she wasn’t Audrey.
The one that claimed to be Audrey, he felt no connection with her, nothing about her showed that she was who she claimed to be; the one that denied being Audrey, he felt a strong connection with her and everything about her pointed to her being Audrey.
“Go to your room.” Alpha Lake said, exhausted.
“Yes, Alpha,” Janeth was over the moon.
Finally, she’ll gets to sleep in the same house as the Alpha.
She couldn’t wait for midnight to come, she’ll wear something sexy and go into the Alpha’s room.
A wolf can’t resist a sexy woman in that wee hours of the night, the Alpha must be hers tonight.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Alpha Lake asked her, pausing her asent unto the stairs.
“I’m going to get that evil imposter out of my room, she deserves to sleep in the forest, for rogues to tear her flesh to peices.” Janeth started proudly.
“Was this were you slept before you decided to run away?” Alpha Lake asked, fixing his strong gaze on her.
“Oh, no, Alpha, I thought maybe, since we’re starting on a new page, as your mate… that is supposed to be my room. And maybe, we could get to…”
“Get out!” Alpha Lake snarled dangerously.
This was the limit.
He had been tolerating her all these while, and now, she had overstepped her boundary.
Janeth was scared and embarrassed, she hastely ran to the door and opened it.
“Stop!” Alpha Lake barked.
Janeth slowly turned to him, not moving towards him, she was scared he might have changed his mind and want to kill her now.
“The bracelet,” He said, stretching out his hand to her.
Janeth felt stupid. She hopelessly walked towards him and placed the bracelet on his palm.
She had wanted to beg him to let her keep it, but she had seen his mood wasn’t the type to mess around with.
“Audrey, I’ll take you to your room.” Andrew said beside the door. He had a strange expression on his face as he stared at her.
Alpha Lake had mindlinked him, asking him to come and take Janeth to Audrey’s formal room, which was more like a storage room now.
Janeth looked from Alpha Lake to Andrew and her hatred for Audrey intensified a hundred fold.
These were supposed to be her friends; but just like before, they always chose that bitch over her.
She swore within herself to end Audrey before the end of tomorrow. She couldn’t go on like this anymore.
She reluctantly followed Andrew down the stairs and Into the servants’ quarters.
Audrey lay in bed staring at the ceiling absent mindedly.
Her sister, Enissa, had no idea she still had her powers. Enissa thought she had only reincarnated as a normal human.
When Janeth had slapped her, she saw a vision of how Enissa had met her outside the Pack’s border. She was with that Alpha Malachi, she always knew there was something fishy about him.
