This place seemed safe, but at the forefront, Trystan remained still, waiting for something.
A strange sound arose, followed by Vivian’s tense voice: “Look at the code door!”
Leo and Knox turned their heads to see an oval-shaped opening covered by a web-like structure, glowing white and sealing the entrance.
Then, the ceiling of the room revealed numerous tiny camera-like devices.
Seeing this, even the usually brave Knox couldn’t help but shout, “It’s a Particle Cutting Beam!”
Leo had no concept of these high-tech weapons, so he appeared somewhat dazed at Knox’s exclamation.
Before Leo could see what a Particle Cutting Beam was, Knox had already taken action.
Powerful electric currents spread across the ceiling, causing those camera-like devices to emit white smoke and a burnt smell under the electric flashes.
Only then did Trystan continue forward, walking to the white door ahead and pulling it open.
“Bang bang bang…” Countless gunshots rang out like a torrential downpour.
It seemed every bullet hit Trystan because none flew past him or through his body.
The gunfire abruptly stopped, followed by screams. Blood pooled on the floor beneath Trystan’s feet.
Trystan walked out of the room, and Leo and the others hurried forward. They saw that where Trystan had stood, there were hundreds of bullets amidst the blood.
Those who had fired the shots were now dismembered corpses. The sight was so horrifying that even Vivian, accustomed to death, almost vomited.
It was too brutal, too savage. This guy wasn’t human; he was a demon.
Beyond the code door lay a vast space before them.
In the center was a circular platform, about a hundred square feet in area.
At the center of the platform stood The Nine Cauldrons, a four-legged ancient vessel emitting a greenish glow under the lights.
Seeing The Nine Cauldrons, Leo and the others were thrilled.
After much hardship, they had finally found The Nine Cauldrons.
Around The Nine Cauldrons were four massive mechanical arms equipped with sophisticated high-tech detection instruments, continuously scanning it.
Led by Trystan, the four descended the steps outside the code door and approached the circular platform.
Strangely, this so-called Quantum Research Center was devoid of people despite its futuristic equipment. Not even ordinary researchers were present, let alone Sea Eagle Organization mutants.
The sharp alarm had also ceased, giving Leo and his companions an eerie sense of emptiness.
This illusion was short-lived. As soon as they stepped onto the first step of the circular platform, a powerful energy wave pressed down on them.
There was no need to look back to know that Sea Eagle Organization mutants had arrived.
Seven mutants appeared, with Brady, whom Leo remembered well for his arrogance and part-Lucifer heritage, leading them.
But Brady’s face was not looking good.
Understandably so-no one would welcome uninvited guests with open arms in their home.
Seeing Leo, Brady’s eyes burned with intense hatred. The saying “enemies meet with extra enmity” fit perfectly here.
The other six mutants shared a similar expression-anger!
This was the first time anyone had dared to intrude into Sea Eagle Organization’s headquarters. Such an act was akin to a slap in their faces.
Feeling the murderous aura from the Sea Eagle Organization mutants, Leo remained calm. With Trystan, WONDER’s top fighter, on their side, Brady had no chance of challenging him alone. It all depended on whether he could defeat Trystan.
Neither side rushed to make a move, creating a tense standoff.
Leo smiled at Brady and said loudly, “Brady, today you might lose your second life too.”
Brady also smiled: “You overconfident Atraria mutant. I said I would sacrifice your life to Satan. You better kneel and beg for a quick death.”
Brady’s gaze shifted to Trystan, squinting as he waved his hand behind him.
At Brady’s signal, the six mutants spread out and slowly surrounded Leo and his companions.
Powerful energy waves pressed down on Knox and Vivian, making their faces tense.
Through these energy waves, they could clearly feel that these six mutants were much stronger than James and his group from Rockefeller Estate.
Brady pointed at Leo: “He’s mine. Deal with the others as you wish.”
As soon as Brady finished speaking, Trystan suddenly appeared in front of Leo and mimicked Brady’s tone in a cold, eerie voice: “He’s mine.”
Brady’s mouth twitched in anger: “Get lost! You’re not worthy of fighting me. I’m not in the mood to play with you. Let…”
Before Brady could finish his sentence, his body suddenly flew backward as if struck by an invisible giant hammer in the chest.
Trystan’s figure blurred again as he closed in on Brady and said in a voice that seemed squeezed from an icy crevice: “Am I worthy now?”
Brady steadied himself and stared at Trystan, enunciating each word: “Who are you? Show your true face!”
“Dead men don’t deserve to see my face!” Trystan replied arrogantly.
Meanwhile, three of the six mutants surrounded Leo while the other three surrounded Knox and Vivian.
It seemed that Sea Eagle Organization’s mutants planned to overwhelm them with numbers and divide and conquer Leo’s group.
Trystan and Brady’s bodies simultaneously disappeared and reappeared on the circular platform.
Brady seemed to have realized Trystan’s strength. His arrogant expression turned cautious as he extended his right hand, igniting a black flame in his palm.
Brady then tossed the black flame into the air. It transformed into a black sword that shot toward Trystan as a streak of black light.
Trystan stood still until Brady launched his attack. He neither dodged nor countered, standing like a target as the black sword rushed toward him.
In an instant, the black light froze. The black sword hovered inches from Trystan’s heart.
