“Yes, Lane has already updated me,” Sachin said.
He didn’t seem surprised by the news as he continued to help peel some prawns for her.
Rosiley looked at him in surprise and asked, “Were you already aware of this beforehand?”
“The Ji Group had kept a very low profile when they completed this deal but it wasn’t difficult for me to find out. I didn’t let you know in advance because I knew that you’d be able to handle them,” he said as he placed the first prawn in her bowl and started working on the next prawn.
Rosiley fed him a piece of fish as she said, “That’s true. Rorey tried to put me on the spot earlier but I foiled her plans.”
Sachin’s eyes hardened for a brief instant as he said, “I’m sure that the first person the Ji family would target is you after they’ve gotten their foot in TEG.”
Rosiley shrugged and said, “Don’t worry. I’m not afraid of them. Let them try to bring me down, and we’ll see who ultimately ends up losing.”
Sachin studied her expression for a brief moment before he said, “I don’t want you to get hurt, no matter what happens.”
Rosiley was touched by his words and smiled sweetly at him as she said softly, “I’ll be on my guard.”
Seneca Yayoi returned to the gathering after she was done eating, while Rosiley continued to stick by Sachin’s side.
Sachin’s expression softened now that they were all alone inside the room. He pulled her onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her waist. He said tenderly, “Could you make up an excuse to leave and come up with me?”
“I’d love to even if you hadn’t brought it up,” she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his chest.
His presence comforted her.
She really enjoyed spending time with Sachin because he would respect her. He wouldn’t disregard what she brought into their relationship, but instead, he would shower her with even more care and concern.
He was completely different from Yunis, which was why she could forget about the hurt that Yunis had inflicted on her.
“I’ll wait for you,” Sachin said as he dropped a soft kiss on her lips. His voice sounded very soft and melodious to her ears.
Rosiley nodded with a smile, pulled herself out of his embrace, and made up an excuse to leave after she returned to the gathering.
She ran into Rorey and Lonny in the hallway. They were making their way back after heading to the washroom.
They looked darkly at Rosiley, clearly upset at how she had embarrassed them earlier.
Rosiley ignored them but Rorey had no intention of letting her off the hook. She said, “Rosiley, I’m sure you’re aware that I’ll soon sign with TEG now that the Ji Group is a shareholder, right? Your days are numbered once I join the firm, so I’d like to know why you think you can get away with behaving so boldly at this juncture?”
“since my days are numbered, I should make use of the opportunity to act as boldly as I can afford to. Mrs. Ji, please put up with my actions during this time,” Rosiley said with a smile.
She sounded like she didn’t fear Rorey at all.
Rorey’s expression darkened, then she asked, “Rosiley, do you really think that I wouldn’t dare to lay a finger on you? Would you believe me when I say that TEG would fire you at the drop of a hat as soon as I issued the command?”
“Of course, why wouldn’t I take you seriously? However, I would like to advise you against doing so because I wouldn’t be able to predict what my boyfriend would do when he flies into a rage,” she said.
