Rosiley knew that Lonny had called her out deliberately, so she couldn’t help frowning and looking at Yunis and Rorey.
Although Yunis was smiling, his eyes burned with a barely perceptible heat as he looked at Rosiley.
He looked at her very possessively.
Rorey looked at her smugly, as though she was trying to prove to Rosiley that she was nothing more than a lowly employee at this gathering while she was the wife of a major shareholder.
“That b*tch,” Seneca Yayoi said under her breath.
Rosiley smiled coldly to herself but she said calmly, “I’m sorry, I’m allergic to alcohol at specific times, and coincidentally, I’m unable to drink now. It’s unfortunate but I wouldn’t be able to raise my glass to toast your new appointment. Mr. Ji, I’m sure you wouldn’t hold this against me, right?”
Yunis didn’t know how to react.
The room fell silent and everyone’s lips twitched in astonishment.
What did she mean when she said that she was allergic to alcohol at specific times? That had to be something she had made up, right?
Rorey looked upset because she had thought that she could use this opportunity to lord over Rosiley. She hadn’t expected Rosiley to utter such a tart remark.
She clenched her jaw and was about to fly into one of her tantrums when Lonny said, “Rosiley, how could you speak to rudely to Mr. Ji? You should consider this opportunity as an honor.”
“I’m sorry, but what do you mean by that? I didn’t choose to be allergic to alcohol, so since I’m unable to do so, I shall leave this honor to you. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it,” Rosiley said as she placed her glass of wine in front of Lonny.
“How dare…” Lonny immediately flushed red with anger.
She wanted to give Rosiley a good scolding but she didn’t dare to. She was placed in an awkward position.
The atmosphere had turned extremely tense, and many others from the senior management team watched on with a frown.
Lina immediately rose to her feet and raised her glass. She said affably, “I must apologize for the impetuousness of my employee. I’ll drink on her behalf since Rosiley can’t drink today…”
Lina was someone who was very tactful, so she downed her glass after she spoke.
The Managing Director hastily said with a smile, “I knew we could count on Lina.” Then, he turned to Rosiley and said sternly, “Rosiley, you can’t act like this in the future!”
“Yes, sir,” Rosiley said with a nod. Then, she looked apologetically at the others and said, “Please continue to enjoy the meal. We’ll head to the washroom.”
Then, she led Seneca Yayoi out of the room without a second glance.
Rorey’s hands balled into fists. She was so angry that her expression twisted savagely.
“Hahaha, that was great. Rosiley, you did so well earlier that I wanted to give you a round of applause!” Seneca Yayoi finally burst into laughter after they left the room and she couldn’t help giving her friend a thumbs up.
Her earlier anger was gone and was now replaced by a look of pure joy as she reveled in Rorey’s anger.
“I thought that there was something fishy about us being asked to attend this gathering but everything made sense the moment I saw Yunis and Rorey.”
Rosiley scoffed coldly and said, “This was a pretty good move from Rorey if she wanted to take advantage of me.”
Seneca Yayoi smiled brightly as she said, “You didn’t see her expression earlier. She looked so comical as she tried to tamp down her rising temper.”
Rosiley chuckled as she said, “All right, let’s go get some food.”
“Sounds good. I’m hungry right now. What shall we eat?”
“Let’s go get something good!” Rosiley said as she smiled sweetly before dragging her friend into a private room that was around the corner of the hallway.
“Huh? When did you book a private room as well?” Seneca Yayoi said as she looked at her friend in confusion. Then, she caught sight of the person who sat at the table in the room.
The man sat elegantly at the table in his white dress shirt. His jacket was placed neatly beside him, and he looked tenderly at Rosiley as though he had been waiting for her all along.
It was none other than Sachin!
“Didn’t I tell you to start without me?” Rosiley said as she walked up to her husband with a smile.
“I’m not hungry yet,” he said softly as he held her pull out a chair with a gentlemanly flair.
Rosiley took her seat and said to her friend, “Come on, take a seat as well. Let’s start eating.”
Seneca Yayoi chose a seat that was a little further away, then she said with a smile, “Did you have plans for a date before this?”
“Of course. It would be so boring if I were to be stuck over in the other room with those people. I’d rather eat with Shijin, so I told him where we’d be after we knocked off,” she said with a smile as she placed some food in her husband’s bowl.
Seneca Yayoi felt a little awkward and asked, “Am I intruding on your date?”
Sachin said, “No, don’t worry. Feel free to eat as much as you want. I’ve ordered your share as well.”
“Then, please don’t mind me,” Seneca Yayoi said as she started scarfing down the food.
Rosiley smiled in amusement at her friend’s actions, then she turned to look at Sachin and said, “The Ji Group has become a shareholder of TEG, so I think it’s just a matter of time before Rorey signs with TEG.”
