Ember
War held out his ring to me, using its power to keep me in place.
“You’ve lost,” he said before laughing. Using my power, I blasted him away from me by screaming. He was sent flying through the mansion and into the garden. My heart was broken. My mate-bond was destroyed. My life is finally ruined. My mates… My mates…..
“FUCK”, I screamed again, as he stood back up quickly only to be sent flying though more walls of the mansion. He phased and ended up behind me punching me in the back. I was sent flying onto the table.
“Stop fighting , Ember. You have nothing left”, he said, waving his hand. I was knocked into the fridge before he dropped me on the floor. I looked up at him and tried screaming again to send another blast of power at him, but he waved his hand. I could no longer make out any sound. I could not speak. He raised his ring, holding me in place. My body was sore from being tossed around like a rag doll.
“Your mates had hidden their entire pack from me, somehow. It won’t be long before I find them all and kill them, just in spite. They thought they could take me on? ME? I AM A FUCKING HORSEMEN”, he growled. As he said this, I saw a white light forming behind him. Was that death? Was I about to join my mates?
War was tossed to the side as a black hole opened and seemed to have swallowed him. The hold on me vanished. Agatha appeared after the white light died. She looked at my mates before looking at me. Her eyes glowed white and I felt the presence of Selene.
“Quick, we don’t have much time. He will be back”, she said to me, helping me up.
” There is no point, Selene. He has won. My mates are dead and he will soon have full possession of me. I can feel myself giving up”, I told her.
“Ember Maze, you are no quitter. You are the fucking goddess of the Earth realm. It is your duty to this realm to save it from those who would seek to destroy it,” she said. She swiped her hand in the air and the motion left a glowing line in the middle of the room.
“I have everyone in your pack and their friends in a safe place right now. I will only be able to help you with this once, Ember. This portal will take you back to the past, on the night of the blue moon. You have one chance. One chance to fix all of this. When you kill War, your past self and your current self will merge together, with your memories intact. You will remember everything that has happened here. Do not fail in your mission. Do not let any of their deaths be in vain” she said. I had a chance to see them again? To save them?
” I won’t fail”, I told her before touching the line. I was transported back into the past on the night of the blue moon, right before War was about to stab Jordan in my body. I phased behind Jordan just in time to grab him and pull him backwards to the ground before the knife was plunged into his heart, saving him in the process.
“Ember”, he said in shock, seeing me and then looking at my former self, who looked confused seeing me. Her eyes turned fully red.
” How did you?”she started, but I gave her no time to respond. Using my power, and recalling the feelings of the deaths I felt of all of my mates before I was sent here, I screamed. Not just any scream, but this scream was more powerful than any other I had ever done before. It was full of sadness, anger, bitterness, loss, agony, but most of all, hate. Hate for War for everything he has done to my life. It was time, once for all, he was put down. With my scream, I had managed to blast War’s control from my body as he left me in spirit form, returning my past self back to normal as she fell to the ground. His spirit seemed to form into solid form, coming into the shape of his bone-like state.
“You fucking”, he growled, but he was not quick enough. I phased in front of him, grabbing the ring off of his finger in one quick motion, before phasing back to my spot. Before he could phase to my spot, I screamed, shattering the red stone in the ring, which released the spirit of Ryder. With Ryder’s body disintegrated from when War possessed my past self , his spirit had nowhere to go but to the afterlife. I felt at peace knowing Ryder found his peace after a long time of being in the possession of War all this time.
Without his ring, War was powerless. He could not phase. He could not possess anyone. His army disappeared in a wisp of smoke. He was just a walking skeleton, with a beating heart.
“Finish him”, I said slowly, looking into the red smoky eyes of War, and all four of my mates heard me. They all shifted into their wolf forms and pounced on War as he tried to run. He did not get far. They tore at his bones, ripping into his heart and tearing it apart. A howl followed from Seth, followed by a chorus of howls and sounds from the other species. War was defeated. A tear rolled down my cheek as I dropped to my knees, feeling the ground under me. I crawled to my past self’s body, as she was still unconscious. I touched her head. My body started to change into a blue flow of energy and flew itself right into my former self, merging with her. I closed my eyes as one final tear made its way down its face.
When I opened my eyes, I was looking up at the bodies of all four of my mates, who were looking down at me with many emotions. I teared up as my memories ran through my mind. I could feel the bond again. A feeling I had only been without for one day, and yet, felt like an eternity.
“Guys”, I started sobbing to them, and they all crowded around me. I phased us all out of the area and back into the mansion in Seth and Carter’s room.
“Angel”, Jordan said, pulling me into a kiss. I hugged him hard, not wanting to let go.
“Ember”, Damien said, and I looked at him. He looked happy. The memory of his throat being slit made me pull away from Jordan and pull him close to me as well, not wanting to let him go either.
“Red, Princess,” I heard both Carter and Seth say. Tears were rolling down my face fast as I pulled away from Damien and pulled both Carter and Seth into me. I really started breaking down. Through the bond. I sent my memories of the last day, letting them see everything I had seen and what had happened to them, so they could understand my hysteric state. They all shared glances, knowing that I had just experienced the death of all four of them. I felt grateful though, to Selene, for giving me another chance to save them. Save them all, but I had one piece of unfinished business. It was time to meet my birth mother!
