(The night of the Blue Moon)
Carter
The moon sat high in the sky as it took its place. Werewolves everywhere were getting ready to mate or find a possible chosen one, not knowing that the events we face tonight could impact them, should we fail. Howls echoed through the night as we prepared to advance into Tallahassee territory. Seth and I led the front lines. Mom, Dad, Agatha and Jordan lead each of the sidelines. Cole, Mia, and Jax lead their teams behind us to take on the second wave of enemies. Damien is tasked with grabbing Ember. We figured she would be heavily guarded, but with Damien’s power, he could have her out in no time. Our job was to clear a path for everyone else. After doing so, Damien, Seth, Jordan and I would head straight for War. Mom, Dad, and Agatha would lead their teams against the third wave of the hell army as we fought War. We made sure to block off all main roads, so humans would not witness what was about to unfold tonight. Before we left, everyone turned to Seth and I, so as to give final words.
“Tonight, we face a dangerous enemy. Possibly the most dangerous enemy we will ever face in this lifetime. He seeks to destroy all we have worked for. He seeks to eliminate the very existence of life from under us. He brings chaos where he goes and has destroyed the very life of your own Luna. He must be dealt with. Tonight, under the blue moon, our goddess Selene calls upon us as her army, to serve her in the mightiest of ways.” Seth spoke. Growls could be heard all throughout our army. He smirked.
“Can you feel it? The blue moon makes you strong, and your alphas are stronger. Your Luna has made it so. Friends who fight with us, thank you! You add to our strength in this time when we need it most, and we will never forget it. We will use this strength to tear a fucking hole through War and his army”, Seth said before looking at me.
“Some of you will not make it tonight. But fear not! Selene has already set your table to dine alongside her in the moon realm, where you will be welcome with open arms. She fights with us, inside us all. Her power increases all of Wolf’s power by tenfold. Use this power. Spare no one! Show this damn enemy no mercy. They will not show you any. Tonight … We face what is possibly hell itself, but we will succeed, as is the way of the Woodstone’s!”, I told them, following it with a battle cry howl to the moon, which was starting to show its blue tones. Battle cries from all species were heard from all sides of the pack ground. My brothers and I exchanged glances.
“Let’s go get our mate and end this”, Damien said, and with that, we put our plan into action.
Ember
I woke up in a jolt as I felt something that felt like electricity spark in my veins. It was like my body was telling me no, this is not the time to pass out. This was the time to fight. A moment, I had been moving towards my whole life without even realizing it. The shift in the air told me what I knew as the Blue Moon rose higher. It was silent. Deadly silent as I sat, restricted in this chair, with an army of his soldiers surrounding me. The smell in the air told me my mates were close. It was almost as if I could feel them somehow, which would have been impossible, but I knew in my bones they were here. Or close at least. As if War could sense it too, he turned to me and grinned.
“It’s about fucking time. Make sure to keep your eyes open for this little flame”, he said before he conjured a huge gun from the ring he was carrying. The ring really did seem to be the source of his power. It was my duty to destroy it. Since I could smell my mates, did that mean my powers were back? I looked towards a window and shot a wave of anger at it. It exploded on the spot. I looked up at the blue moon, and I could feel a light directed right at me. As if Selene was blessing me directly. My wounds were closing up fast. When the moonlight hit me, it was as if I received a burst of new energy all at once, and I sent this energy wave through my mates, empowering them without even realizing it.
“Men. Warriors. Advance!”, War commanded, pointing to the forest. As they did, I saw all four of my mates come running out. They all jumped and mid-shifted in the air, turning into creatures I had never seen before. They were like wolves, but they were on two legs instead of all four. They had evolved somehow. A blue smoke surrounded Damien and Jordan’s black fur. A blue smoke danced off the black and white fur of Seth and Carter as well. It was menacing, but I had finally understood why Selene wanted us to bond this badly. My god blood turned them into their true form. I was certain this was the Lycan form everyone was talking about.
Behind them were the pack warriors, along with some new faces I had never seen before. Shifters of all kinds came from all sides. More werewolves, cheetahs, lions, bears, foxes and snakes were coming in attack mode. War tilted his head for a moment, clearly not expecting this, but decided to advance on them anyway. A smile formed on his skull. He loved fighting.
” We will get you a clear shot, but you need to snatch his ring as we hold him down”, I heard Carter’s voice in my mind. I nodded. As War ran towards my mates, I looked down at my chains holding me, and used my power to break through them. The clash of my mates on War and his demons was loud and unsettling as I saw Carter and Seth tackle the demons on the side of War while Jordan and Damien went straight for War, himself. The monsters were strong, but almost no match for my mates, as Carter ripped the head of one and Seth ripped the heart out of the other. War’s monsters clashed with the rest of the army my mates had prepared. As I was free, I was now ready to fight.
