Chapter 482: No Respect for Layla

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-6-21

“Flynn, I advise you not to go crazy here.”
Unlike Killian, Lilia had interacted with Flynn a few times and knew his temper. Seeing Flynn’s demeanor, it was clear he wasn’t here to apologize.
“Miss Hussain, don’t worry. I can scare him off just by stomping my foot…”
“Slap!”
A loud slap echoed through the room. Killian’s face jiggled as his entire body flew into the air. Weighing two hundred pounds, he landed heavily five meters away at everyone’s feet. His right cheek was blood-red, four teeth were knocked out, and his head buzzed in pain as he screamed.
“I told you to stay away, yet you still came barking like a dog. Are you out of your mind?” Flynn shot him a cold glance before turning to Lilia. “So what if I hit him?”
The room fell silent. The surrounding waitstaff were stunned. Who was this man? He showed no respect for anyone!
“From today onwards, Zeusbite Investments will blacklist the Sharp’s Group!”
“Redcloud Technology will blacklist the Sharp’s Group!”
“Phoenix Dynasty Entertainment as well…”
Members of the Dragon Creek Society were furious and made their stance clear. Since Flynn was associated with Rose, they didn’t want to deal with a thug and directed their anger at Rose.
Lilia sneered. So what if he hit him? Now they would see the consequences! Did they think the Dragon Creek Society was just a small organization? Offending them meant the Sharp’s Group wouldn’t have a foothold in Shipmeda State!
“Someone! Escort Ms. Sharp and her people out!” Phillip ordered, and a dozen bodyguards surrounded them with menacing looks.
“Stand down!” A voice rang out.
Bobby strode in. The bodyguards immediately showed respect and stepped aside upon seeing him. The members’ anger dissipated. Bobby held an exalted position in Pelens, second only to Zion Watson, and his word was law within the Dragon Creek Society. Everyone had to show him respect.
Phillip hesitated, then smiled apologetically. “I lost my temper. I should have waited for Mr. Sheppard to handle this.”
With that, he led everyone over to greet Bobby.
“Mr. Sheppard, Rose brought people here causing trouble and hit Mr. Ramsey…” Phillip started to explain but was cut off by Bobby raising his hand.
“Mr. Clark and his companion are my esteemed guests. I believe Mr. Ramsey must have provoked them; otherwise, Mr. Clark wouldn’t have hit him.”
The room erupted in shock. Without even asking for details, Bobby concluded that Mr. Ramsey had instigated the trouble? And how did Flynn become his esteemed guest? There had been no previous connection!
Phillip was nearly choked by surprise, standing there dumbfounded. Lilia was equally stunned, and even Layla furrowed her brow.
They had fought against Rose for ten years without hearing of any ties with the Sheppard family. How did they suddenly become esteemed guests?
Bobby scanned the room coldly before speaking again: “This year’s membership qualification for the Dragon Creek Society will go to Ms. Sharp. Any objections?”
Everyone was bewildered.
“Mr. Sheppard, I think we should discuss this first,” Oakley whispered. “Miss Woods wants Mr. Ramsey to join…”
Bobby frowned and stared at him: “Oh? Has Miss Woods become the honorary president of the Dragon Creek Society?”
A chilling silence swept through the room as everyone gasped.
In the Dragon Creek Society, only the honorary president held a higher position than the president himself. Bobby’s implication was clear-Layla was just a member; her support meant nothing compared to his authority.
His words were harsh and showed no respect for Layla at all.
Everyone was surprised and curious-why would Bobby offend Layla for Flynn and Rose? It was unimaginable; he had never behaved this way before!
“I support Mr. Sheppard’s decision.”
“I agree with Ms. Sharp joining the Dragon Creek Society.”
“I also support Ms. Sharp…”
The Dragon Creek Society was founded by Bobby and Zion Watson; with Zion absent, Bobby’s word was final.
No one dared oppose him.
Moreover, it was Bobby’s decision-Layla could understand their predicament and wouldn’t blame them for agreeing.
Killian stepped forward reluctantly: “Mr. Sheppard, Ms. Sharp’s people caused trouble in the Dragon Creek Society; clearly, they don’t respect you at all…”
“Out! Get out immediately!” Mr. Sheppard interrupted sharply, pointing towards the manor gates.
Boom!
Killian looked incredulous as he left; he never expected this outcome-not only did he fail to join the Dragon Creek Society but also offended Bobby deeply.
And judging by Bobby’s attitude, he had underestimated his relationship with Rose and Flynn-he might never get into the Dragon Creek Society now.
Watching Killian’s dejected figure leave, Layla asked coldly: “Mr. Sheppard, are you really not going to give me any face?”
“The Sharp’s Group has two miracle drugs contributing far more to society than Laiya Cosmetics,” Bobby replied calmly. “I believe she is more suitable for joining the Dragon Creek Society.”
Previously, he would have considered Layla’s feelings because of her medical expertise-he might need her help someday.
But now that Flynn had miraculously healed Old Mrs. Wilcox’s leg with massage alone-while Layla needed six months of acupuncture treatments-who was superior was evident.
Why would Bobby offend a dragon for a tiger?
“Fine! Since Mr. Sheppard has decided, we’ll leave now.” Layla said coolly before leaving with Lilia.
She didn’t show any anger or argue like an ordinary woman might-but everyone knew she protested Mr. Sheppard’s decision by leaving-their relationship couldn’t be mended.
“Miss Woods indeed should return; Mr. Swanson is having a tough time now!” Bobby said with a faint smile.
Lilia frowned: “What do you mean by that?”
Bobby shook his head and sighed: “It’s hard to explain here-you should hurry back to Swanson’s Group.”
Lilia exchanged worried glances with Layla before quickly heading towards the manor gates together.
“Alright! There’s an upheaval outside affecting various industries-everyone should return quickly!” Bobby announced before distributing everyone’s phones back via managers.
“Mr. Clark,” Bobby addressed Flynn respectfully once more: “I wanted to invite you for dinner but Swanson’s Group is in trouble-several employees from my company are hospitalized because of it-I need to handle this urgently.”
“Next time we meet-please grant me some courtesy!”
Flynn nodded approvingly: “Alright-the company comes first; go handle it quickly!”
As soon as he finished speaking-the members’ phones powered on-they read their messages in shock:
“What? My grandmother is hospitalized? Liver and kidney failure? She only had diarrhea this morning! Huh? Acebegron Clear Relief’s toxic effects?”
“What?! My wife too-she felt dizzy this morning-and now she’s having a heart attack-being resuscitated at the hospital? She also took Acebegron Clear Relief!”
“Oh my god! Everyone check the news-the National Medical Authority reports sixteen thousand critical patients nationwide already-and rising-the Swanson family is doomed…”
