Chapter 481: Madeline Lost Three Chances

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-6-21

“Oh my God, what do we do now? Two hundred million dollars!”
“Didn’t they say investing in Acebegron Clear Relief would at least double our money?”
“I had my eyes on a car to buy by the end of the year. How did this happen?”
The Kaur family members were frantic, feeling as if their hearts were bleeding.
Two hundred million dollars, divided equally, meant each family lost at least ten million.
Now that Acebegron Clear Relief had collapsed, they lost everything!
It was like throwing two hundred million into a river and watching it wash away.
Madeline sat on the edge of her bed, her eyes vacant and her face pale.
Regret. Remorse.
Flynn had warned her twice about Acebegron Clear Relief’s impending collapse, and Scarlet had warned her once.
She thought Rose was trying to smear Acebegron Clear Relief’s reputation on purpose.
Who would have thought it was true?
If no one had warned her, she might have felt better. But the fact that she was warned three times made it worse!
She missed three chances. Just one chance taken seriously could have saved the two hundred million.
And the most despairing part-Madeline had borrowed two hundred million from Maximo to compensate Peninsula Group!
She thought she could repay the loan with the profits from Acebegron Clear Relief.
But not only did Acebegron Clear Relief fail to make money, it swallowed the principal too.
This meant the Kaur’s Group went from earning two hundred million to being in debt by two hundred million!
Heaven and hell in an instant.
And it was completely avoidable, yet she missed it.
“I’ll go find Braiden!” Madeline suddenly stood up and dashed out.
She needed to gather information about the Swanson’s Group’s next moves and find out how much of her two hundred million she could recover.
For the past few days, Madeline had been very concerned about Acebegron Clear Relief, almost daily visiting Swanson Pharmaceuticals for updates.
Because this was her entire fortune, she had to care.
That morning, upon hearing that Swanson’s Group stock prices nearly hit the limit up, she almost jumped for joy.
She even thanked Braiden specially and learned from him that there would be a Dragon Creek Society event that night.
She envied Braiden for a while, thinking following him would lead to great prospects.
Who would have thought things would take such a drastic turn?
Looking at the time, Dragon Creek Society should be in progress. Madeline drove towards Celestia Estate.
But she didn’t know Braiden had already left…
Mr. Price was also anxious at this moment.
The only person who could save tens of thousands of lives now was Flynn!
But Thodell Mansion’s gates were closed tight; no one answered despite his shouting for a long time.
Flynn’s phone couldn’t be reached either; he was almost desperate.
“To Orco Real Estate!” Mr. Price yelled.
Nathan turned the steering wheel sharply and sped down the mountain.
At Celestia Estate, Flynn and Rose were chatting and laughing, looking very relaxed. Especially Rose, whose smile hadn’t faded all day.
“Do they think they have a chance just because Mr. Swanson withdrew?” Lilia sneered at seeing them so carefree and turned to address everyone proudly:
“Since Mr. Swanson has withdrawn, I nominate Killian for membership!”
Everyone turned to look at Layla upon hearing this.
They didn’t like Rose either and thought Killian was the best choice after Braiden left. But they wanted to give Layla some face and let her speak first.
Layla looked towards the pavilion calmly and said, “I agree with Lilia.”
“I also nominate Killian!”
“I support Mr. Ramsey!”
“No objections here!”
The Dragon Creek Society members immediately expressed their opinions, unanimously deciding to elect Killian as a member.
A smug smile crossed Lilia’s lips, mixed with satisfaction.
These big shots were worth billions; they were more experienced, skilled, capable, and powerful than her in many ways. But compared to Layla, they still fell short. After all, no one dared offend a Grandmaster with connections spanning many wealthy families and even aristocratic clans.
As Layla’s friend, no member dared get angry at Lilia for speaking first. That’s networking power for you.
Of course, the most pleased person here was Killian. He initially thought he was just a backup but unexpectedly got in because Braiden withdrew!
What a pleasant surprise!
“Thank you all for your support. I promise to contribute greatly to Dragon Creek Society!”
Killian was a rough man, a nouveau riche who wasn’t good with words. The sudden stroke of luck made him even less articulate.
“Alright! Let’s eat something while we wait for Mr. Sheppard!”
Everyone laughed heartily and raised their glasses together.
Lilia sipped Bordeaux wine contentedly. She had done Mr. Ramsey a favor; he would be grateful and surely follow their alliance in the future. Although it was regrettable that Braiden didn’t join, having Killian join wasn’t bad either! It was far better than having Rose join!
Lilia walked slowly outside the pavilion with an air of triumph.
“Ms. Sharp, I think Mr. Ramsey is more suitable for Dragon Creek Society. I’m sorry I didn’t support your membership,” Lilia said mockingly with a smile in her eyes.
Rose didn’t lift an eyebrow and replied indifferently, “It’s your right to choose whoever you think is suitable; I don’t mind.”
“Oh? You don’t mind?” Lilia raised an eyebrow:
“So Ms. Sharp is just here for show?”
“Or maybe you’re here to meet some bosses?”
“But sitting there won’t help; why not come over and toast them? Lower your stance a bit; they might agree to invest some money.”
Flynn found Lilia’s nagging like a fly buzzing around annoying and said:
“What Ms. Sharp means is that membership belongs solely to her; no matter what you say or do, it’s useless!”
“So crawl away quickly; don’t interrupt our conversation.”
His words angered everyone present. Even Layla frowned.
“Membership belongs solely to Layla? Is he dreaming? Didn’t he hear our vote?”
“Rude! Disrespectful! Did Ms. Sharp bring him here to cause trouble?”
Everyone glared at Flynn angrily with frosty expressions. This place? Dragon Creek Society! All billionaires! Others would grovel just to be here; they wouldn’t dare speak loudly. Yet Flynn ate nonchalantly and even told Miss Hussain off?
How dare he?!
“A mere dog of God of War dares bark here?”
“Apologize! Apologize immediately!”
Killian strode beside Lilia and shouted angrily at Flynn.
Flynn finished his last shrimp piece, washed it down with wine, then walked down from the pavilion calmly towards them.
“See that? If you don’t assert dominance when dealing with dogs barking at people,” Killian said smugly as he saw Flynn approaching apologetically,
“They won’t understand respect!” He stood confidently with arms akimbo waiting for Flynn’s apology.
Rose shook her head seeing this scene unfold.
Great! Another show is about to start.
Killian oh Killian… Why did you have to provoke him?
