The man sitting casually in the chair was around forty years old, with a crew cut and a stern face that rarely showed emotion.
From the moment Leo entered, the man only glanced at him before returning to the documents in his hands.
“You’re Leo, right?” The handsome young man spoke, seeing Leo nod with a smile. He extended his right hand, “Hello, I’m Knox Chapman.”
Leo shook his hand, “Hello.”
“Leo, I’m Vivian Young. Nice to meet you.” The sweet-looking girl also extended her hand to Leo.
After the three introduced themselves, Leo turned his gaze to the middle-aged man. “And this is…”
“I’m Maximilian Ramsey,” the middle-aged man replied without looking up.
This attitude was extremely unfriendly, and Leo felt a bit annoyed. It was their first meeting; why put on airs?
Knox and Vivian were used to this kind of behavior and could only exchange helpless smiles.
They both knew very well that although Maximilian always had a stern face and seemed unapproachable, he was actually warm-hearted. Only those who truly knew him understood this.
The main reason for Maximilian’s attitude towards Leo today was the order from WONDER three hours ago: fully cooperate with Leo in finding the Yongzhou Cauldron in New York, and follow his commands if necessary.
Maximilian felt displeased, thinking that as the leader of WONDER’s foreign operations team, he should not have to take orders from an outsider.
“Let’s all sit down and discuss business,” Maximilian said, assuming his role as team leader.
After they sat down, Knox’s eyes fell on Leo’s suit, which caught his attention.
Given Knox’s knowledge of suits, he could tell that Leo’s suit was extraordinary.
“Vivian, explain the mission to Leo,” Maximilian said, looking at her after putting down his documents.
“Alright, Mr. Ramsey.”
Vivian took a sip of tea and then briefed Leo on the mission.
In short, one of The Nine Cauldrons, the Yongzhou Cauldron, had been smuggled abroad. It first appeared in France and then made its way to the United States.
The current buyer of The Nine Cauldrons was a mysterious and special organization, which had caught WONDER’s attention.
The Nine Cauldrons were national treasures and symbols of Atraria, so WONDER was determined to retrieve them at any cost.
“Have you located the Yongzhou Cauldron?” Leo asked.
Knox replied, “We have confirmed it’s in New York, but we haven’t pinpointed its exact location yet.”
Leo asked again, “So what do we do now? Wait for more information?”
“Leo, I’ve heard you have extraordinary skills. Do you have any way to find the Yongzhou Cauldron?” Maximilian suddenly asked.
Leo shrugged. He wasn’t a miracle worker who could find anything just by wanting to.
Seeing Leo shake his head, a flash of disappointment crossed Maximilian’s eyes. He said in a deep voice, “Let’s wait for now. The people I sent out should bring back news soon.”
Before Maximilian finished speaking, the door creaked open and a man rushed in.
After a few steps, the man collapsed to the ground.
“Fox!”
Knox and Vivian exclaimed and quickly rushed to the fallen man.
With a sweep of Divine Awareness, Leo knew what had happened to the man.
Although his clothes were intact, he had suffered serious internal injuries.
Knox and Vivian laid the man flat on the ground. Vivian extended her right hand over the man’s heart, and white light flowed from her hand into his body.
Leo sensed that the light from Vivian’s hand carried powerful life energy and was rapidly healing the man’s internal injuries.
Knox took out a small syringe and injected its contents into the man’s arm.
The man’s body twitched slightly before he slowly opened his eyes.
Maximilian walked over to him.
Seeing Maximilian, the man tried to sit up but couldn’t manage it.
His lips moved as if trying to say something, but his voice was too weak to be heard clearly.
Maximilian quickly crouched down and put his ear close to the man’s lips.
After saying a few words to Maximilian, the man fell unconscious again.
Maximilian stood up with a serious expression. He looked at Vivian first. “Vivian, get someone to take Fox back to his room and take good care of him.”
Then he turned to Knox and Leo. “Knox, Leo, Fox has found information about the Yongzhou Cauldron. It’s in Rockefeller Estate.”
“Tonight at nine o’clock, you two will go to Rockefeller Estate and find the Yongzhou Cauldron!”
“Yes!” Knox responded loudly.
Vivian became anxious. “Mr. Ramsey, I want to go too!”
“No, Fox is seriously injured. You know how to heal; you stay here and take care of him. This mission is up to Knox and Leo!” Maximilian refused.
“But I already treated Fox; he’s no longer in danger. I want to go!” Vivian insisted.
Having been cooped up in New York for so long, Vivian was eager for action. Now that there was confirmed information about the Yongzhou Cauldron, she couldn’t accept being left out.
Moreover, she had heard many stories about how amazing Leo was in WONDER and wanted to see it for herself.
Maximilian was immune to Vivian’s pleading. He firmly said no.
“Hmph!” Vivian pouted and played her trump card. “Boss, if you don’t let me go, I’ll tell your wife about that thing!”
“You…” Maximilian looked like he had been hit where it hurt most. His eyes widened in reluctance as he waved his hand. “Fine, go if you want!”
Vivian smiled triumphantly.
At exactly nine o’clock, Leo, Knox, and Vivian got into an inconspicuous Volkswagen sedan.
The driver was Alden, who had picked up Leo from the airport earlier. He wore large sunglasses even at night and drove with a calm demeanor.
Leo was curious how Alden could drive so fast while wearing sunglasses at night.
Once out of the city, their average speed exceeded 150 kilometers per hour.
Vivian sat in the front passenger seat while Leo and Knox sat in the back.
“Knox, Vivian, are you both Espers?” Leo asked curiously about their abilities.
Knox nodded. “Yes.”
“What are your abilities?”
Knox was about to answer when Vivian interrupted. “It’s a secret for now; you’ll find out soon enough.”
