Seeing the woman actually make a move, a cold glint flashed in Quentin’s eyes.
No one could harm Charlotte under his watch, no matter who they were! Even if it was a woman, he wouldn’t let her off!
“Stop!”
At that moment, a powerful voice echoed through the ward, commanding respect. Even someone as domineering and unruly as Aviana was stunned into silence by the shout.
Riya spoke up, “Aviana, right? I understand your issues now.”
“Now, let me share my opinion.”
Aviana glared at Charlotte but knew she had to wait for Riya to speak first.
Aviana had always looked down on Devon. Among her suitors, Devon had the worst conditions-no parents and poor financial standing, far from the luxurious life she dreamed of.
During that period, she kept Devon on a string without any intention of dating him, maintaining ambiguous relationships with multiple suitors.
However, she was only moderately attractive, so none of her suitors were particularly outstanding.
Thus, she couldn’t settle on anyone and kept stringing along several men, looking for a better option.
By chance, she learned that although Devon was poor, his sister was a high-ranking executive at Time Group and very wealthy. This piqued her interest, and she reluctantly agreed to Devon’s pursuit.
After Devon graduated, he managed to earn around ten thousand dollars a month, but this was far from the luxurious life she imagined.
She tried multiple times to get Devon to ask his sister for benefits, but Devon refused, insisting on working hard on his own.
This pent-up anger finally exploded!
“Go ahead, I’m listening!”
She raised her chin. “If you can meet my requirements, I might consider marrying him. Specifically… it depends on his performance.”
Even now, she maintained a high stance.
Riya’s tone was calm. “Devon is my brother. If I don’t take care of his matters, who will?”
Hearing this, Aviana’s frown relaxed, and a hint of joy appeared on her face.
“He doesn’t have money for a house right now. As his sister, I should support him. Not just a 150-square-meter house; I can give him a 200-square-meter house.”
“As for a car, that’s even simpler. A Mercedes or something ordinary isn’t worth much. I can give him that too.”
Riya’s words made Aviana beam with joy. “That’s great! As his sister, you’re indeed generous!”
“Of course, these are just minor conditions. For me, it’s nothing.”
“You don’t need to remind me; I’ll do it.”
“You’ve made so many demands; it’s not unreasonable for me to make one request, right?”
Aviana was overwhelmed with joy and quickly nodded. “Go ahead!”
“I’m listening!”
Her current demeanor was completely different from her previous arrogance. She had gone from acting superior to resembling a dog waiting for scraps.
Riya said calmly, “My request is… the wife of the Shannon family cannot be someone like you!”
“Devon can marry anyone he wants; I can give them these things as gifts.”
“But… not you!”
“If you stay with him, I won’t give a single penny! Devon, if you continue with this woman, don’t come to see me again!”
“The Shannon family may not be prestigious, but we have our principles. Not just anyone can enter our family.”
“If you marry someone unworthy like her, I’ll be so ashamed for the rest of my life!”
Riya’s words left Aviana’s face pale and stunned.
Anyone else could marry him and receive gifts?
But not her.
She wasn’t worthy.
This was blatant humiliation!
“You-”
“You-”
She gritted her teeth and glared at Riya.
“What do you mean?” Riya said coldly. “If you think Devon is unworthy of you, then leave now. No one is stopping you!”
Seeing Aviana’s defeated look, Charlotte laughed so hard her eyes turned into slits. This shrew had been frustrated by Riya, who could cut deep with soft words.
Aviana looked into Riya’s calm yet indifferent eyes. Despite her anger, she didn’t dare utter a word of defiance.
The authority emanating from Riya was built over years of being in a high position; Aviana couldn’t compete.
Hearing Charlotte’s laughter made her even angrier. She turned her fury towards Charlotte.
“Laugh?”
“You wretch! Laugh again! Damn it! How dare a lowly person like you laugh at me?”
“Who do you think you are?”
