Jonas moved away from the bookshelf and shook his head. Vlora watched him warily, sensing that Jonas wouldn’t follow through on his words, and it proved true. Instead of leaving, Jonas decided to sit down on the sofa.
“I guess you don’t understand human language.”
Jonas laughed heartily and lifted his head. One of his legs was raised, resting on the other. He leaned back in a deliberately relaxed posture to provoke Vlora.
Vlora’s patience was being tested, so she took a deep breath. She calmed herself, fully aware that her condition was not good that day. Her body was tired, and that affected her psyche a bit.
Vlora walked over to the sofa directly in front of Jonas and stood behind it. “Don’t you have anything else to do than visit someone’s house at the wrong time? I really don’t like you being here.”
“Something to do?” Jonas asked with traces of laughter. He sneered with a condescending air. “Why? Isn’t it better that I am like this? So, your husband has more reasons to provoke people?”
“Provoke people?”
For a moment, Vlora didn’t speak again. Instead, she just stared at Jonas with a questioning look. Thinking about it, she felt a little strange. Jonas’ sudden visit made her wonder if it had something to do with Andreas’ plans for the day.
“Your husband is…”
Vlora blinked once. She temporarily put the suspicion out of her mind. Again, she looked at Jonas, who continued to speak.
“… does indeed have a unique hobby. Always likes to create chaos.”
Jonas spoke each word with emphasis. Then he clenched his mouth tightly. His face seemed to harden and his breathing became a roar. There was no doubt, something had really happened to him and it was clearly related to Andreas.
Bryan had contacted Jonas some time ago. He informed him about the current heated situation, including the pressure from the majority shareholders to replace the CEO of Progun soon. Their voices were unanimous and there was nothing they could do at the moment.
So, Jonas couldn’t think clearly. He left the meeting and drove to Andreas’ house. Emotions pushed him to confront Andreas as soon as possible, but instead he met Vlora, who managed to provoke him even more with her words.
“Everything is chaotic because of your lack of self-awareness. Andreas actually wants to clean up the mess you’ve made. So, here’s some advice for you, stop it all before you ruin yourself”.
“You and Andreas are actually a perfect match. You’re just an outsider, and your speech is so arrogant, just like your husband’s.”
“You don’t have to be an insider to know everything that happens here,” Vlora said bluntly, ignoring Jonas’ increasingly penetrating gaze. “So, for the second time, I hope you leave this house before I call security to drag you out.”
“Drag me out?”
Vlora was sure she didn’t have to repeat her words. So, she remained silent and just stared at Jonas without any fear.
Jonas sneered and pointed at Vlora. “You’re like Andreas’ duplicate. All you think about is finding ways to kick me out.”
“It turns out that you not only can’t hear, but your way of thinking is also wrong. You should realize that no one will want to kick you out if you never disturb other people’s property. You…”
Vlora’s words were cut off. She blinked, and her shoulders seemed to rise as she took a breath. She held the air in her chest for a moment, felt a rumbling there, and tried to suppress it.
“You’re always thinking about taking what isn’t rightfully yours. You’re greedy, Jonas. You’re covetous, and when you forget something, you end up losing everything.”
There was something different about Vlora’s words this time. It wasn’t only in her words, but also in the emotions that seemed to accompany them. Jonas could feel it and his eyes narrowed as he looked at Vlora with a hint of curiosity.
What’s wrong with her?
At first, Vlora’s words seemed similar to her previous statements. But Jonas noticed something strange. Vlora’s voice and body seemed to tremble; he saw her fingers trembling on the sofa. In addition, Vlora’s breathing turned into panting. Most importantly, there was an anger in Vlora’s eyes that he had never seen before.
The emotion felt personal. It wasn’t as if Vlora was venting her anger over what Jonas had done to Andreas, not at all. Her demeanor suggested that the anger belonged to her, as if she had been harboring resentment all along.
“I have never met anyone as despicable as you, Jonas. You justify any means to take other people’s property, and I hope you won’t be surprised when you lose everything. Andreas will bring you down as low as possible.
For some inexplicable reason, Jonas could only remain silent as he heard Vlora’s words. The emotion felt utterly real, so much so that he had no difficulty comprehending it. He was stunned for a moment before he managed to dismiss the unpleasant feeling, then he scoffed.
“You must feel that Andreas’ chances of getting rid of me are very high for you to dare to say such things.”
For the first time, Vlora pulled the corners of her lips into a meaningful smile, but without any friendliness. “If Andreas’ chances weren’t high, I don’t think you would follow your feelings and come here. Isn’t that right?”
Jonas was surprised. Not only by the question, but also by Vlora’s smile and look, which made an unpleasant combination.
But Jonas couldn’t afford to be intimidated, especially not by a woman. So, he strengthened his self-confidence and replied: “No matter how high Andreas’ chances are, in the end I will still have everything.
“I hope this statement can comfort you.”
Jonas growled. “You.”
“Because I’m sure you’ve realized deep down that your current situation is really difficult, almost beyond redemption.”
