A soft knock echoed, and a moment later Desmon entered with a servant. They served breakfast while Vlora leaned back and tried to relax.
“Did Andreas ask you to call the doctor?”
Desmon nodded. “Yes, madam. The doctor will probably be here in an hour.”
“I think there’s no need to call the doctor. So please cancel it.”
“No need to call the doctor?” Desmon repeated, trying to be reassuring. “Shouldn’t you be examined? I think Master is concerned about your health.”
“I’m fine, just a little tired. Everything will be fine after some rest.”
Desmon looked hesitant, but he couldn’t argue. He nodded and said, “Very well, madam. I’ll excuse myself, and if you need anything, please call me.”
“Thank you, and…” Vlora paused for a moment, turning her attention to the servant behind Desmon. “… I’d like you to stay here.”
Desmon walked away, leaving the servant behind. Vlora waited until the bedroom door was completely closed before she spoke.
“I want you to buy some testpacks.”
The servant’s eyes widened and she nodded.
“Remember, don’t just buy one.”
“Yes, madam.”
Time passed. Vlora went to the bathroom with three testpacks. She took a deep breath and started the tests.
Her heart was beating with an unusual rhythm. Vlora tried to calm herself as hope and fear merged into one. Then, slowly, the two lines began to appear.
Vlora was stunned for a moment. She didn’t move, as if she needed time to digest it. Then her eyes blinked once, but the result remained unchanged.
Emotions quickly surged and enveloped Vlora. Warmth spread through her chest, creating a peace she had never felt before. She was happy, but she tried to remain calm.
“I have to convince him first.”
So, Vlora did two more tests. She waited patiently while her heart continued to race. She waited, and a moment later her eyes closed.
Vlora’s heart seemed to stop beating. Various emotions surfaced, something she had never felt before. She was sure it was happiness, but why did her eyes feel warm?
Vlora exhaled quickly to calm herself from the rush of joy. She left the bathroom with the three pregnancy test kits and immediately grabbed her cell phone.
Andreas’ contact appeared on the screen, but Vlora quickly ended the call before it connected. Something crossed her mind and made her think for a moment.
Andreas would surely be happy to return home. His plans were going smoothly, and Vlora guessed that the majority shareholders had probably set a date for a meeting to appoint a new CEO for Progun.
Wouldn’t it be a good idea to share this news as a final happiness before going to bed?
Vlora’s smile blossomed perfectly. Her pale face seemed insignificant compared to the radiance that shone there. Her eyes sparkled, and now her patience was really tested.
Vlora couldn’t wait to tell Andreas about their happiness, but she had to wait. She didn’t want to break the news over the phone. They had to sit together so she could look into Andreas’ eyes and…
Oh, God. I have to be patient. I have to stay calm. Time will pass quickly.
Unfortunately, Vlora’s self was acting out of control. Even her brain consciously began to imagine. She imagined that the night would come and she would welcome Andreas home. She would take Andreas aside and tell him the good news.
Vlora wondered what Andreas’ expression would be like. She was sure that Andreas would be happy, as happy as she was now, but her imagination was limited to imagining Andreas’ happy expression.
A knock on the door interrupted Vlora’s happy reverie. She placed the three pregnancy test kits on the bedside table, then rose and said, “Come in.”
Desmon entered. He approached Vlora, who was sitting quietly on the sofa, and said, “Sorry to disturb your rest, madam. Mr. Jonas is here.”
The name Jonas wiped out Vlora’s happy expression. Now she looked confused with a touch of shock. She had never thought that Jonas would come to her house without an invitation.
“Why is he coming here?”
“He wants to meet Sir, and although I told him that Sir is not at home, he didn’t believe me. Instead, he insisted on entering Sir’s study.”
“Study?”
Desmon nodded. “He said he was waiting for Sir to come home.”
Vlora’s eyes widened. Jonas’ arrival alone made her feel uncomfortable, especially when she learned where Jonas was.
“No need to bring refreshments. I will ask him to leave immediately.”
Desmon nodded and let Vlora get up first. They left with different intentions. While Vlora went straight to Andreas’ study, Desmon decided to contact Andreas.
Vlora entered, and her eyes immediately found Jonas standing in front of the bookshelf, apparently leafing through the books there. His arrival caught Jonas’ attention and he spoke without any preamble.
“I thought Desmon told you that my husband is not at home.”
Jonas sighed as he looked at Vlora. Vlora’s casual appearance in a house dress made him slightly disoriented; she looked different.
“Vlora. I thought you were in the office and Andreas was at home. Isn’t that usually the case? You work and he takes care of the house. Oh, is everything back to the way it used to be?”
Vlora was expressionless as usual. Jonas’ words were not enough to disturb her, quite the opposite.
“Shouldn’t you pray that our nature doesn’t change?”
Instead, it was Jonas’ expression that changed due to Vlora’s question. The scornful look on his face disappeared instantly, especially as Vlora continued to speak.
“Or the other way around? Have you prepared yourself in case my husband returns to work soon?”
Jonas snorted with rising emotion. “You are just like Andreas. You both like to daydream.”
“We do like to dream, but at least not about usurping the rights of others.”
Jonas couldn’t ignore Vlora’s sarcasm. But Vlora continued before he could say a word.
“I hope you’re not offended, but as the lady of this house, I don’t want any male guests when my husband is away. So can you leave now?”
“W-what?” Jonas asked incredulously. He stared at Vlora in shock; he really hadn’t expected that Vlora would not be content with openly mocking him. Moreover, Vlora didn’t hesitate to kick him out. “Are you kicking me out?”
Vlora nodded. “Of course, I’m throwing you out. You and my husband are not on friendly terms, quite the opposite. So, I hope you won’t touch any of Andreas’ things here. If you really want to meet Andreas, then wait for him on the terrace.”
