“What happened to the child?” Charlotte asked nervously.
“The situation is stable, but the child was rendered unconscious by a sedative,” Quentin replied calmly. “It’s a powerful hypnotic gas; even a small amount can cause unconsciousness.”
“Let’s take the child to the hospital first and deal with everything else later.”
Quentin looked at the sleeping face of the child in his arms and silently lamented. How could these people be so heartless to harm an innocent child? They were truly despicable.
After taking Aubree to the hospital, Quentin immediately arranged for a room and a doctor to wake her up.
Riya turned pale upon hearing Charlotte’s description. If Quentin and the others hadn’t arrived in time, Aubree would have been in grave danger.
“Charlotte, Quentin, thank you both so much. I… I really don’t know how to express my gratitude!” Riya stammered, tears welling up in her eyes.

Charlotte spoke up, “Riya, if you’re worried about Aubree being alone, she can stay at my place for a while. The three children can keep each other company.”

However, she feared implicating Charlotte’s family and felt conflicted.
Charlotte reassured her, “It’s fine. We’ll keep a low profile; there won’t be any problems.”
“But Riya, dragging this on isn’t a solution. The Edwards family is a formidable force. If this isn’t resolved soon, you’ll always be in danger.”
